What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sally - Verified booking

Albie’s End is a wonderful retreat, ideal for a couple/singleton who want some quiet time and an opportunity to venture out and see some local sights.

It is ideally situated for Battle, Hastings and the south coast as well as Bodiam Castle and The Science Observatory. The station is only a few minutes away too so access further afield without driving is also an option. The property is an annexe to the hosts’ home but other than checking everything was ok on arrival and offering to help unload the car, we would never have known. Albie’s End is equipped with everything you need and arriving to find tea/coffee and milk in the fridge was much appreciated (as were the snacks/Prosecco). We were also delighted to find a teapot as we had forgotten to pack the one we usually travel with. Kim and Mark were also wonderfully understanding when due to an unexpected hospital appointment we had to push our arrival back to Sunday evening. A highlight of the week was definitely watching the birds on the strategically placed bird feeders. We would definitely return and fully recommend this rental.

      This cottage is beautifully furnished.

The owner is a talented designer with a real flair for interior design which shows in the enormous attention to detail throughout the cottage. The location is perfect: very quiet, away from any main roads and with its own huge natural garden with a small pond and orchard and lots of outside seating which was great for eating out, as was the large attached conservatory which effectively doubles the size of the downstairs space. Perfect for a couple with a lovely bedroom and en suite bathroom. It’s also ideally located for exploring the Sussex Downs, the South Coast great destinations like Brighton and Rye, famous gardens like Sissinghurst and Great Dixter and numerous National Trust properties.

The house is centrally located in Rye. It's just a short walk to train station, shops, restaurants and bars. If you are a cask ale fan, then you are just 100m from a very welcoming and friendly micropub with at least eight cask ales and a range of ciders too. They do a great scotch egg and pork pie too! The Ypres Castle Inn was great too. For food, then we loved Webbe's at the Fish Cafe. Camber sands is a short cycle away on an off road cycle route, and the sea is not cold (in June)! We arranged a great vineyard tour in the local area too. Also recommend a visit to Bodiam Castle and Dungerness for end of world feel.

The Cowshed is a great place for a lovely relaxing holiday.

So much effort has gone in to making it a comfortable and attractive place to stay with much attention to detail and some really nice finishing touches. In short, the Cowshed has everything you could need. Sedlescombe is a very good base for accessing all the lovely attractions that East Sussex has to offer and on top of that, there are plenty of good walks in the immediate area without having to get the car out. Cathy and Tim are nearby to help with any queries without being intrusive and are obviously determined to make sure their guests are having a lovely holiday. We would thoroughly recommend the Cowshed.

The cottage is an absolute delight.

The fixtures, fittings and furnishings are of a high quality. The bathroom has an excellent shower and a heated towel rail, something which many cottages lack. The kitchen is adequate for 2 people and contains all the equipment you can imagine. The sitting room has comfortable seating and the conservatory is a joy to be in on a warm summers day. There are many places to visit nearby and a pub serving good food within easy walking distance. I recommend a visit to Wood Glen for a thoroughly enjoyable cottage break in tranquil countryside that cannot fail to be enjoyed
