Let’s start with the pros- great location and stunning views.

Large spacious bedrooms and overall spacious property. Cons- Cleanliness is far from satisfactory. I will usually keep my shoes off inside my home, but with this property my socks were so filthy after removing shoes, I kept them on downstairs. Cobwebs everywhere and dust etc. The house felt grubby and unkept. I asked Sykes for the beds to all be made up as doubles, they had not done this and denied I had ever called. I have the call log as proof of this. We then had to go out and buy a double sheet to do this ourselves. In terms of crockery, staying over Christmas especially, meant we had to go out and buy more pans etc, No wine glasses and 1 Prosecco flute. The only glasses provided were short tumblers, not even big enough for a decent glass of squash. Very poorly stocked kitchen. There is only a slimline dishwasher which isn’t great for this size of property, however as there are only 7 large plates, 7 bowls,7 side plates, 7 forks, 7 knives etc then the slimline works fine and is just used multiple times a day. More crockery and a larger dishwasher would be more cost effective. There is no washing machine or dryer, though there is a gap in the units in which they could be placed, instead this just makes the kitchen look unfinished with a gap showing a void, where there is no skirting and just gaps to the brick wall. Fridge space is limited with 1/3 fridge and 2/3 freezer, poorly thought out for a holiday let. Large bedrooms but only a hanging rail and no wardrobes, no drawers in which to put away clothes. For weekend stays, this wouldn’t be an issue but those staying longer may want to unpack. 2 large bathrooms but only one 800mm by 800mm shower cubicle for 7 persons, the first floor bathroom could accommodate a shower over the bath and the ground floor would have benefited from a larger shower, my 9 month pregnant daughter could barely fit through the gap due to the corner opening doors. There was also no mirror in this bathroom. When using the toilet on the ground floor it is not fixed securely to the floor and moves from side to side. The external steps are extremely slippery and dangerous and one of our party fell down the first flight. They really need to be maintained in terms of jet washing off the algae. For the final straw, all rubbish is required to be removed from the property. With a 6 hour drive ahead and Christmas rubbish from 7 people this made for a very stressful morning hunting around locally for bins that could take the rubbish. We would have never been able to fit that amount of rubbish into the car, nor would it have been a very pleasant drive home to do so. Day before departure, I was keen to give the place a hoover and found a Henry with no accessories, just a hose, so was unable to do so. Would be a good idea to provide guests with this option. I asked the owner if they were elsewhere in the property and was advised to use the dustpan and brush. On the final morning whilst opening the oven the handle came away in my hand. I contacted the owner who asked me to ask the neighbour for a screwdriver to fix it myself, I had already checked out by this point. Staying in multiple properties over the years at Christmas I would have at least expected a tree to be up, this was disappointing but more of a nice to have. Overall great house with great potential but felt very unloved, dirty and little thought to the holiday let useage.

I spoke to the Owner of the property before we were due to go regarding parking because my husband is registered disabled he has COPD and mobility issues.

He is unable to walk very far and has to use 2 walking sticks. She told us we could park anywhere in the car park but there was a designated car space immediately outside the property which did have in huge letters NO PARKING. One day we had only gone out for a short while we came back and couldn't park the car in that spot. The car park was full. I phoned the owner who came with another lady who had parked there as well and apologized saying there was a big Golf tournament on plus a funeral. Now I respect all funerals but I didnt like being made to feel guilty I was complaining. Its no excuse to parking in a designated car space for that property. I was told it doesn't really happen. The next day we went out again and we couldn't park again due to some one parking a Golf buggy in the same designated space. I phoned the Owner again who had it removed straight away. During our stay we noticed on occasions the Golf club car park does indeed get quite full. Although there is room out side on the road to park. I should imagine in the high summer season the car park would get really full too. There was another two times I had to phone the Owner because on arrival there was no internet connection and the power went of in the property on the Friday morning . Both were rectified very soon by the Owner who was really nice and very friendly and very welcoming. A lovely Lady. We liked the property very much. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable and had all we needed. We would very much like to book again to stay in this property but with the parking issues especially if your Disabled. Unfortunately we will not book again.

There are many good things to say about Fairways and these are our observations: 1.

Guests should be aware that the bungalow is immediately adjacent to the golf clubhouse and whilst the golfers are quiet they do walk past your front door to get to their changing rooms. There is no late night noise. Guests are free to use the clubhouse bar and restaurant, the food is the usual golf club fare. I cannot speak for the course but it is in a good setting and looks well maintained 2. There is no wardrobe in the twin room and no room to install one. A second wardrobe could be put in the main bedroom. 3. The super king size bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable and the room spacious. The lounge is also comfortable and spacious. 4. In the kitchen there is no freezer and no frozen food compartment in the fridge. We stay in many holiday cottages and there seems to be an assumption that guests will either eat out or bring in takeaways or ready meals. The pots and pans are sufficient but otherwise if you wish to cook a meal from scratch you will need to bring everything, from a sharp knife to salt and pepper. Remember also to bring fresh milk and immediate provisions as there is no convenience store within walking distance. A big Tesco, Aldi and Lidl are within 5 minutes drive. 5. The garden is small but secure and the grass is artificial, it took our dog a little while to get used to it! There is a very good walk down the public footpath which runs immediately next to the bungalow. We enjoyed our stay and you will too if you factor in the above.

      Beautiful property with wonderful views.

Upon opening the front door, we realised we had arrived home and were visualising our own belongings in the house. It was spacious, clean and had a good feel to it. Our girls had already moved in, by dressing their room with toys, crafts and cuddly teddies. There is an easy stroll to local shops, pubs and a children's play area, which was very handy. There are steep steps up to the property, but if my mum can handle it, so can you, and my mum could trip over fresh air. The front garden was nicely kept, so much so, we released our newly emerged butterflies, where they enjoyed the juicy plum trees. To the rear there is a lovely patio area where we stayed most evenings. There could be a mirror in the downstairs bathroom or a washing machine to wash all those dirty clothes, but that's just picky, it was a truly awesome holiday and although we had fun on our day trips (yes, I'm now skint) I really loved coming back 'home' at the end of the day. I would recommend staying at this property and we will be coming back again soon.

Lovely small but well equipped property.

Space well thought out and height used where width could not…cupboards in the main living area at 10ft high for instance. Bathroom particularly nice and premium feeling. Inclusion of hot tub in private back yard was great and the placement of the tub was well thought out too as it meant you were not overlooked. The property needs either a couple of windows that can be open or air conditioning to cool it. We stayed on a couple of mild to warm days (around 20 degrees) and due to the velux windows in ceiling of living room it created almost a geeenhouse effect meaning the whole property was almost uncomfortably warm. A fan was provided but being honest that just recirculated warm air. We found best option was to leave back door open but obviously this didn’t help at night when asleep. Other than this (on the scale of it) small criticism / suggestion we would 100% stay here again and thought it was a lovely little ‘home’ for a couple of nights : )
