The county of Carmarthenshire sits in the south west of Wales and is marked by its three largest towns, Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford. Known affectionately as ‘The Garden of Wales’, it’s also home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. What our customers say about their holidays

    • Tim - Verified booking

This is the first time we, as a family, have ever booked a cottage type break away - it won't be the last.

This is a delightful cottage and far exceeded the expectations from the already wonderful pictures you see here. It is spacious with 2 sitting rooms. The main sitting room has a log burner with everything provided to get it going. I've no idea how to use one, but I gave it a go and had a nice fire going. Has a TV with all the usual channels and iplayer etc. The other sitting room is equally as nice but you may need your own firestick there if you want to watch the television. But we didn't do much telly watching - so only briefly looked. Kitchen diner is massive! All you need to cook is here. Very good quality throughout. Ensuite main bedroom. Make sure you pull the blind down (You'll see!). Bed is extremely comfy. The children reported the same from there room too! Now, the cottage is on a main road, so there is a bit of traffic noise - but to be honest its not really an issue. The boiler clicks a bit in the main bedroom when the heating comes on but again you're being uber picky if this is an issue. The outside is just lovely. You can spend hours in the hot tub, listening to tunes if you want, or the blissful sound of absolute calm. It is really secluded too so no one can see round the back. There is a lovely little welcome back - and a folder with all you need to know about the cottage and the area. A brilliant touch. As it says, everything is a bit of a drive away, but an ideal base for exploring Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Our only regret is not being able to stay a bit longer. Out two asked when we were going back. I said I didn't know - but we will be going back to this beautifully presented cottage.

A lot of health and safety issues and environmental issues e.

      G. piles of rubbish including old radiators , old fireplace, plasterboard and plaster , and lots of bags of rubbish with a dank and musty smell outside house blocking footway from car park to cottages . there was a mouse in the rubbish on one occasion. car park unlit in dark as was footway from car park to cottages causing safety issue especially with so much rubbish on footway. there is disused swimming pool with foul water in it and not securely fenced off causing health and safety issues. The playground facilities were in a bad state of repair with visible signs of rot. the indoors games facilities in a state of neglect and the whole area had very uneven ground. . there was cabling coming from our sitting room going across pathway causing trip hazard .the bath in cottage showed distinct signs of enamel coming away and i would not have liked to sit in it and risk getting my bottom scratched It really was a very depressing place to stay everything in cottage was very dated and tired . we had come up for a family party on Saturday and couldn't wait to leave early the following day .workmen came and worked in cottage whilst we were staying . we are taking the health and safety and environmental risks further as in all the thirty years we have been with Sykes we have never seen anything like it. we have taken lots of photos to prove our case.

We loved our stay at Y Cartws.

The cottages have all been converted from farm outbuildings and Y Cartws was the feed storage and cart house. The conversions are to a high standard with some beautiful woodwork and old beams. The scenery is lovely with the hills ascending just behind you. Great walks from your front door. The beds are brand new and so comfortable with lovely clean white bed linen. It was pretty cold when we were there but the heating was really good ... and we could control it ourselves. The log burner is an added bonus. There are stair gates on both the bottom and top of the stairs which is handy for kids and dogs. WiFi worked great. Washing machine AND tumble drier, very important in Wales. Eirlys, the owner, took over the farm in May 2023 & she is giving the cottages a real makeover. She is lovely and friendly. Her daughter Gwen is very sweet and she played with my 9 year old son and took him to see all the animals which he loved. I would definitely recommend staying here. Rachel, Judy & Patrick (Midlands)

I recently had the pleasure of spending a holiday at a charming Y Cartws cottage with my family and it was an experience I won't soon forget!

Nestled in a picturesque location surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil nature. The cottage provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, combining rustic charm with modern amenities. The cozy living area featured a lovely fireplace, making it the perfect spot to spend time with my family. The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to prepare our own meals with ease. Early morning, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of nature. Overall, our holiday stay at this cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The combination of comfort, beauty and welcoming hospitality made it a truly memorable getaway. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature!

This cottage is just as described.

It's cosy, has lots of space and was just perfect for our Christmas getaway. There was a Christmas tree and decorations that made it a perfect home away from home. The log fire place also added that touch of cosiness. The beds were comfortable, the duvets and pillows were all very comfy and warm too. The kitchen and dining area was so spacious, even with us all getting things ready for our Christmas dinner. The garden setting and hot tub were such bonus. It was great being able to just relax, with music on and in such an isolated area. We didn't go out and about much, but that wasn't the purpose for our getaway. We literally just wanted to chill and have fun with the family. We would love to go back and will definitely be recommending this property.
