    Laugharne Holiday Cottages

Winding country roads lead you into Laugharne along plenty of signs for the Dylan Thomas Boathouse – the poet being perhaps the locale’s most famous resident. He referred to Laugharne as “a timeliness, mild, beguiling island of a town”, and it’s clear to see why. It sits in picturesque surroundings and became a prime filming location for BBC drama ‘Keeping Faith’. The cast’s favourite spot in the town was the Brown’s Hotel, a watering hole that dates back to the 1750s that was also favoured by Dylan Thomas. Visitors can get a history lesson, a drink, and a chat with locals here, as well as through the town’s several well-renowned eateries and cafes – the cream teas here to die for!

Holiday cottages in Laugharne include cottages with patio space, pet-friendly accommodations and open-plan, family-friendly homes. We're sure you'll find something to suit everyone, whether you're travelling just the two of you, or with the whole family crew.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Simon - Verified booking

This cottage was right up our street, and was hoping it was as described in the listing, which it was.

The cottage was immaculately clean on arrival and even more spacious than viewed from the pictures online. There was only the three of us including dog, but we like our space. The rural location on a farm with horses and dogs was great. Our dog is really hit and miss with other dogs but once she was settled in, she loved the two farm dogs. The younger dog would love to play with our dog when I walked her up the road or down in the extended grounds. Jackie the owner was very friendly and could not have been more helpful. On the day after we arrived she even invited us over to join her and others for a very belated Christmas get together which she had had to postpone from last December, now September, pulled pork baps with salad followed by profiteroles!. We spent some time just chilling and relaxing at the property. The view over the extended grounds with its peaceful and tranquil location were just the job. With the door open to the conservatory it was just nice to sit and listen to the River Corran babbling away as it runs through the grounds. There was a distant thunder storm on the first night but with all the lights off and full view of the sky from the conservatory, we had a show of lightning for most of the evening. We are members of National Trust (NT), so most of our visits were to NT properties or places including Stackpole Quay (and circular walk to the spectacular Barrafundle Beach), Paxton's Tower, Newton House, Dinefwr Grounds and Castle, Calby Woodland Garden, Lawrenny Quay/Claddeau Woods. and Dyffryn Gardens (on our journey home). Other places we visited were the Dylan Thomas history trail in and round Laugharne itself and the Castle with spectacular vies accross the River Taf/estuary. Also for those interested in all types of vehicles and speed, the Museum of Land Speed at Pendine is worth a visit. We had some good food at Poon's in Laugharne (Thai/British street food and breakfasts). Also Indian takeaways both good from Elaichi's and Bombay Spice in St. Clears. Another good place for breakfast (on way to Pendine) is the Stone Range Cafe. Lovely food too at Lawrenny Quay Cafe. All in all a great stay and would definitely consider a returning. Little Brook cottage was spacious, cozy and had everything we needed for our 5 night doggy holiday.

It was very clean and tidy, had a wonderful inglenook fireplace and wood burner, really comfy bed and nice hot shower. The garden space was a good size and completely enclosed and secure so we had no issues allowing our dog out without his lead. The driveway was accessed over a little Brook and through a double farm gate and there was easily enough space for two large cars. Wood was supplied for our first night and then more wood was located in shed priced a £5 per bag if required ( we took our own wood with us). At the bottom of the drive and on the right hand side was a lovely little cafe that was open most days 9-4pm and was dog friendly. During our stay we visited several beaches including Pendine sands which was approx 5 minute drive away, Llansteffan beach, Saundersfoot, Amroth and Tenby, all of which were between 30-40 minutes in car. All had dog friendly parts. We also ate at the Carpenters Arms which was about 10 minutes drive away from Little Brook and was dog friendly. We had a fantastic time at Little Brook and it is the best we have stayed in so far. We had to call the owner for advice on one occasion and he was very polite and helpful. The only slightly negative comment I would make is in relation to the departure time of 9am. I appreciate that the owners require time to make the cottage ready for the next guests but as the arrival time is not until 4pm, I am sure that allowing guests a later departure time of even an hour would make a difference, as it was a bit of a rush to get everything packed and tidied up before leaving. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing stay!

We had a very disappointing stay at Corran Cottage, I'm sorry to say.

We really wanted to love this property as we were looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing holiday with our dog. The cottage was advertised as being in a "tranquil setting" with "quiet surroundings", however it was far from this. The cottage is semi-detached; there is a bed and breakfast adjoining the building and guests come and go. This would not ordinarily be a problem but for the owners 2 dogs barking at all arrivals. Also on site is the owners stables and this also resulted in many arrivals and departures, again causing car door slamming and dogs barking. The owner lives opposite the cottage and the lovely garden you see in the pictures of the trees and stream is beautiful, but is also shared with the owner and the B and B guests. There is, therefore, very little privacy in the so called "private" garden for residents of the cottage, as it is overlooked by the extended garden and all who visit it. To make matters worse the owners dogs took exception to anyone using the extended garden, and our dog was jumped on and growled at each time we left the cottage. We also witnessed the same thing happening to residents of the B and B who tried to walk their dog in the extended grounds, so it certainly was not a one-off situation. Each time we left the cottage we had to carry our dog to the car to prevent it being jumped on by the owners dogs. A far from relaxing stay at Corran Cottage and we decided to leave 4 days early, as 3 nights there was far too stressful for us and our dog.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage and were gutted we had to cut our stay short due to work commitments.

Everything was ready when we arrived and the cottage was very clean and the kitchen well equipped. Not long after we settled in the owner popped by to check all was ok and if we needed anything. We brought our 2 dogs and there was lots of space inside the cottage and outside for them to roam. We all enjoyed long walks on Pendine beach and up the coastal path. Despite the bad weather, the best thing was coming back to the cottage, drying off and warming up in front of the gorgeous fire. The dogs loved it too and we enjoyed cosy evenings in the living room relaxing from the days walking. The bed was so comfy and we slept very well. The dogs settled quickly and we loved the homely feel the cottage gave us. We did try and say we were leaving but there was no answer at the house and the mobile telephone number provided on the Sykes booking didn’t work. Thank you so much for a great stay. We enjoyed it so much we will be back again next year.

Where do I start on praising this property, it was utterly lovely, on arrival it was spotless!

and so lovely and thoughtful of the owner to provide fresh milk and orange juice, also Welsh cakes and chocolate (thank you). The cottage is so cosy and warm, beautifully thought out and provided every comfort. The large garden was totally secure for our fur babies, which gives great peace of mind to let them just roam and play. The location was beautiful so peaceful. Just a short drive to the beach, pub, shops, chip shop and cafes. We absolutely loved our stay at little Brook cottage so much so we booked for next year while we were there. A massive thank you to the friendly owner who kindly took the time off his busy dairy farm to welcome us, glad we managed to catch you when we were leaving to say bye and thank you! Cannot recommend this property enough 5* we had a amazing and relaxing stay. So looking forward to going back, see you next year! And thank you. Jo, Stu, Ellie and Nancy
