I stayed at Sunny Bank for a 4 week period, whilst searching for permanent accommodation in the area.

I had not long arrived from Australia & was working full time. I had also brought my pet cat over with me, & Sally (the owner) was very generous about letting her stay in the cottage with me. Sally is a lovely lady, who was helpful & kind, & her attention to detail in Sunny Bank is a testament to her thoughtfulness for the needs of others. In the 4 weeks I spent at Sunny Bank, I did not want for anything. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, for any length of stay. I imagine if there was something you might want, that wasn’t in the cottage, Sally would do all she could to try & help you out. I cannot speak highly enough of her generosity & kindness. Thank you Sally, for all the hard work & effort you have put into the renovation & modernisation of the 300+ year old Sunny Bank, & then sharing the fruits of all that labour with the rest of us. I highly recommend Sunny Bank to anyone looking for the comforts of a home-away-from-home experience, in a beautiful area of Lancashire.

The property was very clean, a major plus for me with a well equipped kitchen with everything we needed.

Good selection of pans, pyrex, oven trays and a slow cooker alongside the microwave, electric hob and oven. Minor niggles. A silicon pan trivet would have been useful and a washing machine would have been a bonus during our personal current lifestyle. A clear plastic 1/8" sheet or similar behind the bin may stop the unsightly marks on the wall behind and swapping the fridge/freezer door hinges over from right to left would be logical. No bath mat to step on when out of the shower. Duvet was very hot for summer. The traffic on the adjacent road stopped us walking directly from the house and the noise from the road during late evening early morning bothered me but I'm quite sensitive to road noise. The shower trap is constantly being syphoned from a source below leading to smells in the bathroom, we poured water into the trap short term but this is very fixable. Minor niggles aside I'd recommend and return.

The cottage was in a lovely spot, very peaceful.

It was very clean & had just about everything you would need & being able to take the dog was a bonus, lovely little enclosed garden. However 3 things we felt let it down, there is no heat in the bathroom or bedrooms( there are plug in heaters in bedrooms so not such a problem),but it would have been nice to have somewhere to dry towels. On our first night we were cold, as the storage heater on landing didn't seem to come on till early morning. In the lounge there is a plug in heater, but without lighting the fire that is totally inadequate in the winter. The storage heater in dining room hardly felt warm. There is also just a plug in heater in kitchen. Thirdly it would have been nice to have proper sized bath towels. We did enjoy our stay & the cottage is obviously loved & well cared for, but I think you would struggle to be warm enough had the weather been snowing & frosty.

The cottage is so incredibly sweet and cozy, a beautiful building with a lot of heart.

The Beds are THE most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in considering I’ve staying in 5* hotels the beds at the cottage are so incredibly comfortable it’s like sleeping on a cloud. The area is quiet although close to pub and shops, there are walks and places to visit close by and I genuinely can’t say how much we really enjoyed our stay and can’t rate it highly enough. We had to be there because of a sudden death in the family and Sally the owners is the sweetest kindest lady I’ve ever known. Sally made sure that we were happy and comfortable and was ready to help with anything instantly and for that I will always respect her for this and also be a loyal customer as well as friend. If anyone needs a comfortable calm clean space to rest then the cottage is definitely the place is to unwind and recharge. Thank you Sally your amazing as your cottage is too

Property was looking a tad tired and in need of decoration.

We were not aware that the dining room window looked directly into the cottage behind ours. Very off putting when eating meals. The kitchen was also overlooked but had a net curtain at the window. The kitchen and bathroom were spotless, but other rooms could do with being given the same level of dusting. The garden was sadly quite neglected, and several shrubs and plants were in need off a good chop and tidy. There was no welcome pack, and this was the first cottage we have stayed in were there was no hairdryer. That said, the cottage is in a lovely place and we did have a relaxing holiday. It was also very kind and much appreciated that they let us bring a second dog.
