Ashbank Cottage is consistently praised for its comfortable accommodation, peaceful and beautiful setting, and welcoming hosts. Guests enjoy the wildlife, the views, and the thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts. While some minor criticisms exist regarding maintenance and cleanliness, the overall experience is highly regarded, making it a recommended stay for a relaxing holiday.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. However, a few reviews mentioned issues such as cobwebs, dirty curtains, and carpet stains, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness standards.
The location is highly praised for its quietness, peacefulness, and wonderful views. Its proximity to local attractions and villages adds to its appeal, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy atmosphere and the presence of animals adding to the charm. Some guests noted that the bed squeaked and the bathroom could be updated, indicating slight deductions in comfort.
The facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being described as well-equipped. However, comments about dated decor, the need for a lick of paint, and a desire for general modernisation suggest that some aspects of the facilities could benefit from attention.
The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, with several guests mentioning welcome gifts such as wine, chocolates, and fresh eggs. It should be noted that while these gestures are appreciated, they may not be a guaranteed feature for all stays.

The cottage has such charm and the most amazing views from the lounge and terrace. Watching the horses, dogs, geese, goslings, chickens and in the further distance the sheep, cows and a few rabbits was delightful and there were so many birds and their lovely birdsong all around. The owners were so friendly and made us so very welcome and helped to make our stay very special. We also very much appreciated the welcome treats including the wonderful eggs. Can't say enough about our stay, it was just wonderful. Thank you Sue and Ken
