What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jean - Verified booking

I filled in an on line form as soon as I arrived.

I also rang the owner. The description on your website is incorrect. If it had been a correct description of the layout I would not have booked it. It says on the ground floor there’s a downstairs bedroom leading to the living room which leads to the kitchen, and there’s three bedrooms on the first floor. So I booked it because I’m disabled and use a wheelchair so everything was on the ground floor for me. But it wasn’t. The kitchen was upstairs so totally ruined Christmas for us as I only went upstairs when two people carried me which was unsafe. One of the elderly couples decided they couldn’t come when I told them about the layout of the property because they originally assumed they’d only have to go upstairs at bedtime. So the cost had to be divided between two parties instead of three, which we wouldn’t have paid if we’d known about it. Your website also states fuel provided so we didn’t take wood, it wasn’t provided so Christmas Eve had to go looking for wood. Contacted the owner who said he would have to contact Sykes about fuel being provided. Also said to him, as it’s Christmas we thought there’d be a Christmas tree up, his reply was I live in Chester, I’m useless (referring to himself). There wasn’t even a piece of tinsel. The downstairs wet room leaked onto the bedroom floor, and we couldn’t turn the heating off so had to go round turning radiators on and off.

What a lovely little gem of a property!

Away from it all, but near enough to the beach (1 mile) and the local shops/cafes. Really quiet other than the natural countryside noises and a total sun trap when the weather is nice, which it was all week. Some have commented on the lane going to the property which is indeed narrow, but its perfectly negotiable and I never actually encountered another vehicle when driving. For info I drive a 4x4 so unless you're trying to drive down a lorry I think you'll be ok. Perfect for walkers, with me and the dog clocking up over 90 miles in the week. The local pubs can get VERY busy on the weekend in summer as can the beach, but there are much quieter ones further afield in the car. The house is west facing, so can get VERY hot in the sun so best keep the curtains closed. It would benefit from blackout curtains in the bedroom such as those in the lounge but I guess this is down to personal preference. Please note there is also no washing machine here, so get your elbow grease ready for the handwash! Alternatively there is an laundry in the village. Hosts are tremendous and couldn't do enough. Local amenities are grand, including an emergency visit to the vets who couldn't help enough. All that remains to say is diolch!

Lovely holiday home, nicely proportioned and great having the lounge upstairs.

Meant that nights during the hot spell were cooler. Beds very comfortable and spacious. The apartment is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood…only a short walk to the Beach…..I timed the walk to the Beach at 7 mins on the way down …. Maybe 10 on the way back up. There is a little cut through so no need to walk all the way around. The apartment was clean, nice bedding and towels. There were some Welsh cakes and a pint of milk as a start off…. Nice touch thank you. Shame no dishwasher… but not the end of the world not really anywhere for it to go I understand. If I may pint out one thing……All of the windows really do need a real good clean inside and as specially outside, frames and all…. I opened a window and the inside of frame is quite horrible cobwebs and dirt …. Not nice to see. Otherwise everything is great about this place really loved it. I am sure we will be visiting once again in the future.

Poor quality sofabed did not work as a couch.

Extremely uncomfortable to sit on, missing back cushion filled in with two grubby scatter cushions. Wood floor in lounge showing bad signs of wear and looked dirty. Ice compartment in fridge iced up and needed defrosting. Lack of kitchen utensils, specifically no collander or slotted spoon. No basic cleaning materials such as cloths. If this had been flagged in the details we would have brought our own. A basic welcome basket of tea, coffee and milk would have been appreciated. Size of balcony was good but maintenance extremely poor: the floor needed re-staining, the door frames were dirty and rusting at the bottom, the balcony rail and glass were greasy and dirty. Quality of balcony funiture was basic and in a poor state: rusty chairs. No sun umbrella or awning so we couldn't use the balcony for most of the day as it was too hot and unshaded.

Our stay at Eglwys St Cynfil was wonderful and relaxing.

An incredibly peaceful place to stay and unwind You could hear a pin drop in the evenings. The church is light, bright, airy and wonderfully decorated with plenty of character with exposed beams. Lovely and clean, stocked with Fresh linen and fluffy towels. Our girls, 13 & 15yrs, were not looking forward to sharing a bedroom with each other however, spent every night laughing and giggling until they fell asleep and said they had “the best time “! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and outside a bbq with huge table and bench seating. So many rabbits! which were very entertaining. We really liked The history of the church and the very old headstones. The renovation photo album was also interesting to see. Thank you both for a wonderful place to stay. Tim, Debbie, Lucy & Chloe
