What our customers say about their holidays

WE LOVED STAYING IN THE OLD GRANARY AND THE STABLES - Our extended family (7 plus 2 dogs) booked this truly wonderful accommodation for the 4 days of Easter. Our hosts Rob and Bridget, were very kind and helpful. (My opening comment to them was the photos did not do the places justice..!!) We struggled to choose which of the 4 en suite bedrooms we each would have as the whole place is so wonderfully appointed and decorated... all high end appliances, furnishing and fittings. The fully walled, shared square courtyard with wisteria on the walls, shelters you from any breezes and is a wonderful warmth trap... the courtyard AND the garden is fully enclosed and totally child and dog safe... It was wonderful to go immediately on walks from immediately outside the property, the adjacent farmyard, which is concrete hard standing, is well cared and clean, and the grandchildren loved having the ponies nearby; ( for those not interested there was no noise and smell). The set up with grandparent having The Stables, which had a good sized living area which with the open plan kitchen enabled us, after agreement with the owners, to entertain some local family ... we ate our main meals together in The Old Granary A Truly Wonderful venue , which we were sad to leave..thank you once again.

A fantastic stay in this property.

We were made to feel special straight away with the welcome basket. A warm, cosy, original cottage in the heart of the friendly old town. Amenities close to hand and a great base for sight seeing/ visiting old haunts. Clean & well maintained. Cosy beds, great kitchen, cute living space, lovely bathroom ( great first a pamper) and plush carpet. Useful feedback: Kitchen: Would benefit from a tin opener/ bottle opener, waste food recycling bin, glass recycling bin outside and a sieve. Left hand tap handle kept falling off. Living room: instruction folder for telly, heating and microwave. Comments book & a lamp (for subdued lighting in evening). We used two from upstairs and made it feel even more cosy. We were there when bad weather struck so lots of cold air coming in under front door. Optional draft excluder may help in winter months. We know this is a new holiday rental and is work in progress so this is why we have added more suggestions. For me, my sister, two girls and a dog this was a fantastic property and nice to see a different aspect of the old town. Our grandparents used to live in Eastbourne and this break helped us say goodbye.

We had a wonderful holiday at Stables Cottage.

It is the perfect place for a restful break. Jamie and Katya are friendly, kind hosts, constantly helpful - they went out of their way to make us feel at home. The cottage is really beautifully renovated, stylish and cosy, with lots of space and light, as well as very comfortable beds. The kitchen is well-equipped and we enjoyed the nespresso machine. The outdoor seating and dining area is very pretty and secluded and we enjoyed eating outside and admiring the lovely roses. Our two small children loved the owner's paddock, a huge field up the hill from the cottage where they could run around safely with us as it is entirely fenced and securely gated. The views from the paddock are fantastic across the Sussex countryside and we found it a very relaxing place to spend time. The cottage is also near a whole range of great places to visit. We spent several days at the seaside and visited Herstmonceux Castle. We really felt that we had found a gem with this cottage and travelled home with lots of happy memories of a great holiday.

Cottage was lovely and just as advertised.

The furnishings were high quality and the refurbishment was done to a high specification. The area was lovely too, but as mentioned previously very close to the main road, though it didn't really bother us much - but obviously thats a personal thing. Did find it hard to find, turning could do with larger signage. Bed was very comfy and everything was spotless. There were a few very minor issues - a woodburner with a few pieces of wood, but no kindling/fire lighters. The kitchen was lovely but surprisingly no where to put food (except a fridge). No additional items that have normally been provided in previous cottages I've stayed in eg tin foil, clingfilm, spare bin bags, etc. Though the welcome pack did have a washing/diswasher tablet, wine and coffee capsules for the machine. The TV signal dropped out alot, it as easier to use the wifi enabled apps - wifi was really good. We will be back, as it was in all a fab holiday - perhaps next time you could organise better weather!! ;)

We have just returned from a perfect week at Stables Cottage.

What an absolute gem this charming cottage is! The cottage has just been completely refurbished to the very highest standard, with amazing attention to detail. The kitchen is lovely and really well equipped, the lounge/diner is really homely, the bed is really comfy and the garden is just perfect - we ate outdoors all week! Jamie and Katya are lovely, and so accommodating. In all honesty, we are surprised that this gorgeous cottage doesn't have 5* (or 5tick) rating. There are plenty of fantastic places to visit - we walked around Bewl Water, drove down to Eastbourne via Beachy Head and a short walk to Belle Tout lighthouse, and took a slightly longer (but very worthwhile) trip to Dungeness and New Romney, with a ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. There are local farm shops to buy fresh produce and quaint high streets in tiny local towns to stroll along. We will definitely be visiting again!
