    Hatersage Holiday Cottages

10 miles southwest of Sheffield, at the eastern end of the Hope Valley, sits Hathersage - a busy village with rich literary associations. Indeed, holiday cottages in Hathersage are often favoured by English students and bookworms as the gorgeous scenery makes for literary inspiration.

The Church of St Michael in the village houses the grave of Little John, the famous lieutenant of Robin Hood. Robin Hood’s Cave, the Well and Stoop, is also nearby. Moreover, Charlotte Bronte had close ties to the village – with North Lees Hall believed to be the model for Jane Eyre’s Thornfield Hall. Hathersage is surrounded by designated AONB (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty), including Offerton, Abney Moor, and Bretton Clough - just north of the River Derwent. Those staying in Hathersage can enjoy drinks at the local country inn overlooking the river or explore the Hope Valley further by foot or bike.

At Snaptrip, our best price guarantee covers every booking made, so you won't find better value elsewhere. Property searches for holiday cottages in Hathersage can be filtered by your specific requirements: from parking availability to hot tubs. Should you need any further support, the Snaptrip customer service team are on-hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Gordon - Verified booking

Have been visiting the Peak District for a great number of years and Town End Barn was one of the nicest places we have stayed.

Bradwell is a lovely village where everybody is friendly. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. The upside-down layout (bedrooms & bathroom downstairs, with lounge, diner & kitchen upstairs) may take some getting to used to for some people, but it posed no issues for us. Be aware that access to the upper floor is via a wooden, slightly winding staircase and may be a tad difficult for those people unsteady on their feet. Off-road parking was a bonus, especially in a fairly busy village. However, there are absolutely no noise issues at all. After a day of touring/sight-seeing, the outside seating area was most welcome for an afternoon tea , or glass of wine. We took full advantage of all three village pubs, Fish &Chip shop, Co-Op Store and Post Office. The White Hart provided the warmest of welcomes and a quiz night on a Wednesday evening (where we did very poor....). Unfortunately there was no food on offer, but the log burner/fire was great. The Shoulder of Mutton also provided a very warm welcome, with the added bonus of serving food. The Sunday Lunch was great (booking advisable). Although there were a number of different opinions relating to the Fish & Chip shop, we found the food to be of a good standard. The Co-Op mini-supermarket store offered everything we needed. All-in-all, we had a fantastic week, made all the better by the lovely accommodation and welcoming people of Bradwell. We will return.

Lovely little cottage with lots of potential.

A few minor issues but worth noting. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty so we had to buy our own hand soap not a major issue but I would expect it to be available for us. There was no toilet brush or shower curtain. No washing up sponges provided in the kitchen, just a flannel which wasn't ideal. Appreciate the cottage is old but there are a lot of cobwebs that have blatantly been there for a while and could be dealt with a duster, just makes the place look a little unkempt. Someone's old contact lenses were left on the bedside table which wasn't nice either. Seems there is a lack of attention to detail here compared to other cottages we have stayed at for a similar price. The host did leave us some milk and biscuits which was lovely. It would be good for future guest for the kitchen to have some oil, tin foil, kitchen roll etc. Again something we have had in other stays for a similar price. Overall a pleasant stay, lovely cottage just needs some tweaks from the hosts and it could be amazing.

A delightful cottage in the heart of the Peak District.

Ideally situated in the pretty village of Bradwell which offers all facilities you could ask for on the doorstep. The cottage lived up to its rating and provided every amenity needed for an enjoyable and comfortable holiday with our dog. Worth noting from an earlier review was the internet access has recently been upgraded to a high speed system connected to a modern multimedia television system offering on demand services. As previously mentioned the village is ideally placed to visit all of the sights of the Peak District without driving for hours. There are many walking trails which can be reached directly or within a short drive from the cottage. Also worthy of mention is the cottage is within two miles distance from the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club and would make an ideal base for a weeks flying at this excellent facility. Very happy to recommend this highly and certainly equalled the standard of previous Sykes cottages we have stayed in.

This is the 5th holiday my wife and I have spent in this area of Derbyshire, but the first visit to this cottage and we were delighted with it.

The cottage is centrally placed in the village, it was clean and tidy, modern and everything worked. There are 4 pubs within a few minutes walk and we can recommend The Bowling Green, the food was very good and plenty of it especially if you've been out walking all day and the staff were very friendly and welcoming and most importantly for us, dog friendly. Try the local bakery on the main street opposite the Co-op, The Bake house has a great selection of sandwich fillings along with other produce, great value. Bradwell is ideally placed to visit most parts of Derbyshire whether that is to go walking or visiting the various historical homes. We had a great holiday and will definitely be going back to Town End Barn next year.

The cottage is well equipped and comfortable - could have done with some kitchen tongs but the knives were sharp which is so rare!

We had fabulous weather so didn’t need to use the log burner but I’m sure it makes things very cosy when it’s cold. The wifi was quite slow - I’m aware this might be a constraint of the local area, and it didn’t impact our trip - but just mentioning it as it wouldn’t be suitable if you were planning to work remotely, as we sometimes do on a trip. Our dog really enjoyed himself and although the playing field just across from the cottage is dog-free, there are public footpaths/bridle paths nearby for walks. Bradwell itself was a lovely place to stay - quiet and friendly. The Co-op and a couple of nice pubs are only a couple of minutes walk away. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others.
