"Good but challenging parking, plenty of room inside the property, creaky floorboards in bedroom, you’ll wake the other half on your way to the loo in the night!! The garden furniture is a bit lacking, so no al fresco breakfasts (unless they’ve taken notice of the visitors book)! Really good pub, drinks and food, across the road, but book a table Friday night. If it’s cold you’ll find it difficult to adjust the heating. I could but i’m a heating engineer!! (The boiler’s by the bathroom. Don’t let the owner know that you know!! shhh)!! There’s loads to see and do in the area. I recommend Dover Castle and the wartime tunnels, a picnic on the cliff tops at the national trust site, watching the comings and goings at the ferry terminal, and a walk (NT again)along the cliff top to South foreland lighthouse and back. Or , with a map, cut inland to return via St Margret at Cliffe, and see the Bleriot memorial. If I could i’d live in Kent, it is so lovely. May 2012."

"S13550 is a compact but comfortable base for two people attached to the owners' house in a quiet residential street in Birchington within walking distance of the seafront and a small supermarket although the main shopping street is a little further away. It is well equipped, modern and clean. A small part of the owners'garden has been sectioned off for users of the cottage. It is a good base for exploring northern Kent. We had trouble connecting to the wifi initially but once connected in the owners' house we had no further trouble and the signal was strong. The owners are very nice and helpful."

"We found S13550 to be very clean and comfortable. As a responsible dog owner though I did find it very disappointing that the owners' dogs were allowed to foul in the garden (the owners' garden, which was overlooked by the cottage's kitchen and living area) and it was not cleaned up the whole week we were there. Another disappointing thing as far as I was concerned was the fact it is advertised as having a washing machine. I find that very convenient on holiday, however, it does not make it clear you have to ask the owners to use theirs! A good base however for touring the area."

"The cottage was lovely and warm and I particularly liked the well equipped kitchen, everything was at hand to cook for Christmas day. We liked the location and the unique setting and location near to excellent shops, the butcher in particular, and frequent bus service at the top of the road. Access to the cottage was a bit tricky because of the wintery conditions. We would have liked more description about how to access the key (we have heard of others people having difficulty in different properties) but the owners were most helpful. Dec 2009."

"Comfortable cottage but a couple of items. I had to clean out the grill pan which had grease and bread crumbs in it and the oven door was very greasy, and burnt on grease around the hotplates which needed a brillo pad. There was a smell of 'drains' in the sink and had to clean the wire baskets which had a black film on the undersides. It was better after that. Would have appreciated a washing up bowl as we didn't use the dishwasher and the hot water took a long time to come through and was not very hot."
