The chalet is sweet and could be made so much better.
The furniture is all odd and could be arranged better and may be decluttered. The kitchen is tidy and has been tidied up. I took my air fryer and used that 99% of the time apart from the kettle, toaster and microwave. Lots of mugs but you need to pick through as some donât look like they have been washed too well. The bathroom is great and the shower works perfectly. The main bedroom the bed is a small double and it is very soft and low. It has bedside cabinets which are add but does the job. There is a big built in wardrobe that has the Emerson tank and the main electric switch. Now, this is where I found a problem and also in the 2nd bedroom. There is no electrical sockets at all in the bedrooms. So no charging of phones or iwatches or even a bedside lamp. I like to read but the big ceiling light to read with isnât very cosy and relaxing. The second bedroom, no sockets and this was a pain with kids and their iPads in the evenings. Again, no where to plug in night lights. I really think money needs to be spent to get sockets put into these rooms. The cleaning does seem to be done. However, the mop that was left should we need to use it or at the end of the stay I like to clean, well the mop was disgusting and I wouldnât and didnât use it. I have taken a picture but not sure I can upload it. The chalet cost over £600 for a week and I do think some money should be spent on the property to bring it up to more modern times with the use of devices. Now, WIFI !!!! This is provided by the caravan park and not the owners of the chalets. It is Meant to be 5g WiFi. The signal is really poor. You have to keep putting in the code as it drops out so easily. It cost over £8 for 7 days and you can only use one code per device. So we had 4 iPhones. 2 iPads and this was a real pain. The kids will play games on the iPad in the evening but like to FaceTime their friends and play and talk about the game and help each other. We had some rain so in the evenings when cooking etc having showers etc it was good for the kids to have their devices but I got fed up of the moaning about wifi. The site facilities wasnât at all pleasing either. The restaurant/bar closed Sunday afternoon and didnât open until Thursday. There was a swimming pool, that was meant to heated but I am unsure how it is heated as on the really sunny day we did have I was told it was very cold to get in. There isnât a shop on site. So make sure if you are going in the evening like we did you take milk, bread etc. otherwise it is a drive to the nearest village to get to the co-op before it closed. We did have fun as we went out most days. But home from home it wasnât. It could be really cosy and an ideal base for exploring. It just needs some work and if allowed I would get my own wifi installed and maybe a smart tv etc.

Nice little place, the location is great and the views are lovely and as described.
Check in was easy and owner responded quickly to the question we had. Having the beach and costal walks at our doorstep was the selling point. Pub and mini market in walking distance were another plus. Sadly we couldn't use the outdoor seating area to enjoy the views due to the strong winds and rainy weather but that's in no one's control. The place was clean, tidy and bright and the kitchen was very well equipped. Perhaps the layout with kitchen table and seating area could be slightly better but was ok for us as we were only 3 people. Would also be nice to put your legs up after a long day walking, maybe something to think about. Board Games were provided too. Big disappointment were the twin beds, as mattresses were so uncomfortable, very hard and with springs poking through and had definitely seen better days, it was very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Something which could easily be rectified. Mattress on double bed is better and more comfortable, so we gave it to my 80 year old mum who came with us to sleep on. On the plus, linen and towels were clean, fresh and looked new. Late check in on arrival and early check out on the Sunday, plus cleaning before departure made it a bit stressful and less worth for money spend, especially then one only stays for a weekend. Overall however a lovely place, which we would certainly recommend and come back to, if mattress issue is addressed.

The cleanliness of the lodge fell well short of expectations.
The furniture on the decking was strewn all over and the decking definitely needed some cleaning up as it was caked in old cobwebs and debris. In the lodge we moved one of the settees to hoover behind and found it thick with dog hairs so it had never been moved in a long time. We had a dog with us for 3 days but he was light coloured so not his hair. We had to clean the toilets due to where the seat/lid being stained. Also the skirting boards needed cleaning and the windows were filthy so we could tell that lodge hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time.On the last day we stripped the beds as requested and found one of the beds did not have a mattress protector on it, we found it in a drawer. The mattress was stained quite badly. Luckily the weather was hot so I didn't get into the bed and slept on top of it. We put the mattress protector on but the mattress definitely could do with replacing. We have been to this holiday village before but will not take the risk and return again. This is the first time a Sykes property has not come up to expectations but in the current climate with covid it should have exceeded our expectations.

Just back from a week away from South Lakeland Holiday Village.
Site was very clean and looked well maintained. My grandson loved the swimming which you no longer need to book. We ate a few times in the restaurant where the food was really nice and good selection. You need to book this and we seen lots of people getting turned away for either a table or takeaway which is such a shame. There was staffing issues to but the ones on duty were excellent and were always polite and courteous despite being run off their feet. There isnât much in the site to do, but we knew this before we went and planned our days out with the site and enjoyed the great weather. The lodge we had was beautiful and well equipped. Location was superb just at the lake. Would definitely return.

We were on site for three days and on three occasions we tried to book a table or access the takeaway service from your on site restaurant.
We were only successful on one occasion in relation to a takeaway , on that occasion our request was met with a less than positive attitude. At the time we felt that the manner of the staff made us feel that they were doing us a favour rather than trying to assist customers. On Wednesday at 4,30 in the afternoon we again tried to place a takeaway order, only to be told they werenât open for food and once again met with a less than positive attitude and told that all takeaway slots had been filled. The quality of the food we did order was very good and we enjoyed our stay on your site. The only negative regarding our stay was the difficulty in accessing restaurant facilities.
