What our customers say about their holidays

    • Persephone - Verified booking

Honestly the pictures shown do not do this property justice, the whole place is even more stunning than shown!

! Val and Steve were on hand to help with any problems you had (I had an issue with the shower in the morning, I messaged Val and she offered to get Steve to come and have a look at it. Turns out I just hadn’t turned it on properly). Their hosting skills were absolutely fantastic. The lodge was impeccably well put together, tidy and clean. The kitchen was fully functional and had the options of a washing machine and a dishwasher which made the stay a lot easier. Val and Steve went the extra mile and put balloons and banners up as they knew we were attending for my daughter’s 12th birthday, they even left a lovely card for her. She really was over the moon. The hot tub was heated and ready for us on arrival. There was lots of information sheets, DVD’s and the choice to book swimming which meant we had lots to do!! I have rated them on here as high as I could but they really do deserve the highest ratings!! We will definitely be booking to come back again in the future. I would also like to add that where the lodge is located it is very tranquil and quiet. I loved waking up in the mornings and seeing the view from the balcony when I went upstairs in the morning.

Had a lovely week, lovely location, clean and very accommodating.

Site staff were friendly. Tv aerial either faulty or needing better aerial, as tv required was required when raining and signal was playing up, connector seemed loose. Beds were comfy, bedding was clean. Trees could do with lopping back a bit to protect lodges. Games room was good fun. Pool times were awkward, and no availability outside when rain forecast, even though it didn’t rain. Also, pool shut early outside when plenty of sun and light would have allowed a swim. Never got to use outside pool due to restrictions. Inner pool said to book online but we were allowed in as it was almost empty and allowed to stay over booked time slot. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. Welcome pack of drinks and biscuits was a nice touch! Restaurant made good food and was dog friendly which was nice to see. Meals were large! Internet was weak, being in a valley, I guess. Thanks for a nice holiday!! Went to Eden project, Rock, Fowey, Padstow, Jamaica inn, camel train, Polperro, Poole, Tavistock ( Friday market). All great places. A visitors' book would be a nice add on to the lodge.

The setting and location was lovely.

The lodge could do with some investment as looking a little tired. Understand this is a holiday lodge but the table and chairs and settees and double bed were not the best. It was perfectly functionable though and did not ruin our stay. The lodge did smell damp downstairs, I believe this is to do with the area as mornings outside would be damp but if heating not turned on even for an hour to dry your bath towels etc then downstairs did not really warm through enough to dry out and I believe this also added to the dampness. Once turned on the space dried out and the smell disappeared. Might be worth noting this to potential guest to help combat this issue in the future. There was black mould on some of the windows and back of the curtains (although clean) you could see where this had been an issue. The decking outside also needed some maintenance. We had a wonderful stay and none of this effected our holiday but I think this might be helpful to future guests and the owner if not stayed at the property recently. The space and size of the property was ideal for us.

Short concrete path leads directly from car park to the property.

I have had back trouble in the past so really appreciated the orthopaedic mattress - so much so that I have taken its details and have ordered one for mysellf, The owners obviously take pride in providing everything a guest could wish for. Cupboards/drawers full of books, games videos etc for if weather is bad (luckily we didn’t need them). Every conceivable kitchen implement was there including Tupperware boxes to make a picnic if desired. Towels were the softest we have ever felt and smelt like summer - name of fabric conditioner please. Cottage very clean with enough cloths and comprehensive cleaning materials to clean a medium sized hotel. All we needed to bring on holiday were our clothes and toiletries- everything else was well provided for. Well located near Bude and beaches. Comfortable stay for two people using second bedroom as storage for suitcases etc. Might be a bit snug for family if four. All in all would book this dog friendly cottage in future

This is a very well located lodge on a good site offering additional facilities which can sometimes be hard to come by, such as gym/swimming pool, restuarant/bar, shop and games room.

The lodge itself is a fair size and well laid out, with a very nice feature of a first floor balcony which gets a good bit of sunshine throughout the day. Three double bedrooms, so good for larger parties or if you have guests. The kitchen has all the things you need for cooking, washing and cleaning. The owners are very friendly and we received a useful whatsapp message from them before the stay with the immediate bits of information we needed. The only negative we have, and I'm guessing this applies to all of these lodges as I think it's a building issue rather than a maintenance issue is that the air in the ground floor space is quite damp and you are greeted when you first enter with a fusty smell. This then transferred itself to our clothes over the course of the stay. Clearly this single issue wasn't a massive problem for us though. We liked the lodge and the site that much that we have booked again for next April!
