What our customers say about their holidays

A True Hidden Gem My wife surprised me with a stay at the Northcott Hut in Cornwall for my 40th birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Situated on a secluded family-run farm with picturesque views of the sea, this shepherd's hut is a true hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, Andrea was the perfect host, ensuring every detail was taken care of. She even organized a balloon and a bottle of bubbles for my birthday, which was a delightful touch. The hut itself is wonderfully appointed, with all the facilities one could need. The log burner was perfect for the cooler months, creating a cozy winter retreat, while the outdoor BBQ and beautiful outdoor jacuzzi made for a perfect summer escape. The jacuzzi can be used all year round, and with the outdoor burner, evenings become even cozier as you watch the beautiful stars. Sun loungers are also provided for those sunny days. The attention to detail was impeccable, from the cosy blankets for evening outdoor seating around the log fire to the robes and premium toiletries provided. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a BBQ with fresh fish from the local fishmongers, making the evening even more special as we watched the sunset. If you're a couple looking for a romantic getaway in Bude, look no further. The photos don’t do justice to the stunning views, especially at sunset. Northcott Hut is truly a perfect blend of comfort, seclusion, and natural beauty. Highly recommended!

We probably stay 2 to 3 times a year at either Southern halt or stonerush lakes and we try a different lodge everytime.

We got hit with a storm on this occasion and loved every minute. One drawback was the parking which is some distance away especially packing for 4 days but you get the benefit of it being completely isolated. I did worry I would find a tree had fell on my car with the winds but luckily avoided that, plenty of large branches fell along the path which I cleared. The lodge itself was perfect, completely different style layout to what we have had previously but it worked well and was our favourite one so far. The hottub was lovely and the balcony surrounding the lodge was the best so far. Didn't get to use much of the outside due to the weather but we had already planned for it to be cosy and away from the world. Again the lodge contained everything we needed in order to cook everything we took. The restaurant on the Saturday was quite nice but very limited being out of season. All in all this has been our favourite break and lodge so far and I would definitely book this one again in the future. Only downside is we like the fish in the lakes, they usually come to greet you and say hello but they must have been busy doing fish stuff. Multiple squirrels instead on the decking which we fed and entertained us. Perfect getaway, thank you.

      Everything was top notch!

We was really happy with our experience at 11 meadow retreat. Everything was super clean and tidy. My girlfriend absolutely loved it and vows to stay here now every time we come down to Cornwall. She can be fussy at times with accommodation but she did not have one bad word to say about your property. I only have one tiny little niggle and some may think it’s silly but I want to mention it to you only for you to be able to improve all you can. That being the pressure of the shower wasn’t the strongest. Although, I understand there is a lot that goes into water pressure and it may not be your fault if you don’t have the best provider or your area suffers from poor pressure. However, this didn’t affect my stay what so ever, it was just one tiny little thing. We look forward to staying with yourselves again!

      We adored Northcott Hut!

! From arrival Andrea was so welcoming and so lovely to communicate with regarding keys and general enquiries. The plot of land is breathtaking and you do feel completely isolated from everyone and anyone. We loved that we could sit outside or in the hot tub and every now and then hear a sheep or the cows chatting. It was also extraordinary that we drove through the working farm and got to see them moving the cows, that was a huge highlight for us. The facilities with the hut were incredible, Andrea and family have thought of everything you could possibly need and more, from loungers and bbq if it’s sunny to the under floor heating and scrabble if it’s a bit chilly. I cannot praise this little family business more. We will 1000% be returning to Northcott Hut in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at 4 Millers Island, the accommodation was bright and very clean with a comfy master bed.

The hot tub was set in a glorious woodland area with complete privacy and the visitors which included ducks, squirrels and even a heron were wonderful. The outdoor decking area however does need some attention to be able to enjoy it. The decking and seating areas were not cleaned and so unusable and some stinging nettles need to be cut back. The soft furniture looks to be always be left out so could do with being cleaned and taken in after each stay so people can then bring it out if desired (plenty of wardrobe space for those). If this area could be sorted it would be 5* all round from us as we did have a wonderful stay and would love to come back if some attention could be given outdoors.
