What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lisa - Verified booking

We really enjoyed the location and the facilities.

Lovely friendly welcome from Kirsty and John and felt we could ask if we needed anything. Fantastic touches with dog bowl, poo bags and treats as well as Milk, yummy scones, jam and cream! A unique location which added to our experience. It wouldn’t suit all, but we loved it. It is one of the few places we have been which we would love to go back to. Loved visiting lots of beaches and exploring. We found The cabin very dog friendly and were pleased that the dogs were able to stretch their legs just outside the cabin not always on leads, which always makes life a little easier! Kirsty and John are developing the site which it would have been nice to know before hand, but the quality of the cabins and thicknesss of the windows meant very little noise and also the worker on site we found was very considerate. It’s such a lovely location- we are not surprising they are adding another cabin! We took dressing gowns to walk to and from the hot tub, which I would highly recommend on chilly days/ evenings! Also a torch is required when wandering to the hot tub at night.

      Very pleasant and comfortable stay.

The site was very quiet, just before August bank holiday. Do note that there are no facilities on site, restaurant, play park etc. We had no issue with this. The beds were very comfortable and it was great to escape to the hot tub after a days walking. Our hot tub was available on the day we arrived. All kitchen appliances worked as expected and it was really useful to have a washing machine to spin the costumes. Reception were fantastic help when we realised we were missing a clothes horse. Reception also call in advance to welcome you. The only let down was mould in the bathroom, the lodge is only a few years old. The toilet seats weren't fitted well and had come loose before our stay (we forgot to mention this to reception and just made do!) We really enjoyed our stay, it was a great location (we had family in Liskeard) and a very comfortable lodge.

Wow, what can we say other than WOW!

! What a great time we had staying at the Fern. Not only did we love every minute, our 2 cockapoos, Maggie & Mabel, had the time of their lives there too. They absolutely loved running around the grounds and seeing some of the farm animals from across the way. And we were able to relax, knowing that it was in enclosed, so the dogs were safe at all times. The hot tub was perfect, along with the outside fire. Julie, the owner, went out her way to ensure we had the best stay there. From providing stuff for the dogs (poo bags, water/food bowls, toys etc), she also posted back to us a few bits that we had accidentally left behind there - ops! The Fern was super clean and comfortable. Just an all round perfect stay. We will definitely be back!! And I'll be recommending it to everyone I know!! Thanks so much again Julie!! Amy, Dan, Maggie & Mabel

The property is of a very high standard, with a full and useful kitchen and good quality furnishings throughout.

Our only moan is regarding the hot tub, we arrived on the Saturday after a 6 hour journey and was looking forward to a nice evening relaxing in the hot tub, however, we were told that it wasn't working and we were not to use it. I made our disappointment clear in an email. It was clear being the weekend that it was not going to get fixed until Monday. However, we later found out there was nothing wrong with it and apparently it just needed cleaning and as the hot tub people don't work weekends we would have to wait until Monday. That's 2 evenings out of 7 that we couldn't use it, I wondered if we was going to get some kind of refund! However, they did draft someone in on Sunday to clean it which obviously we were pleased with. All in all an excellent holiday lodge and location if peace and quiet is required 9.5/10.

We had a great time staying at Tor down Quarry.

The cabin was very clean and decorated to a high standard, we had everything we needed to relax and enjoy ourselves. The views across the local countryside were beautiful and the lakes were a spectacular place to have fun with the family. we stayed for three nights and didn't feel the need to leave the site as it was such an enjoyable place to be. We arrived late on our first night as traffic was bad but Kirsty made sure that once we had got to the site picking up the key and getting into our cabin was super easy. Once in we were greeted by a delicious plate of local scones along with plenty of tasty jam and cream to go with them which we all enjoyed tucking in to! We highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a great place to relax and unwind.
