What our customers say about their holidays

    • Shannon - Verified booking

What a wonderful stay we had, we stayed here in Dec 21 too.

Again our visit did not dissapoint. We stayed at Streamside both times and we really do enjoy it down by the stream. So calming to hear the water first thing in the morning. We love the Hot-Tub, we used it daily. Very happy that it gets checked daily for our own safety. Due to the time of year we visit, staff is limited and one of the evenings we wanted to use the on-site pub, it was CLOSED. We tried to go in a couple other times but they were closed. But I do know they are closed I think 2 days of our stay anyway. I would like to highlight that 2 toilet rolls for a week stay just isn't good enough, we learnt this from our last stay so I purchased some before we arrived. Also if there was a possibility to do this, I think if people are using the kitchen dailly and are staying for a week then two dishwasher tablets are not enough. Our lodge was full of cobwebs hanging from the ceiling in master bedroom and both bathrooms. The shower in the master could have done with some mould and mildew on the tiles and also shower hose. However, with all that aside we had the best stay, comfy bed, heating. T.V., used the local footpath, and we did feel super isolated which was great. We will be coming back next year for sure! We might even get some family to tag along too. Thank you for a great stay :)

      The property was lovely.

Clean, comfortable & spacious. Extra crockery & cutlery would be a bonus as the dishwasher is full size. It had to be run half empty or you just do the washing up yourself. The kitchen has basic equipment. When we were there it was very quiet, all you could hear were the birds & the stream. The site is quite spectacular & very well maintained. The slight downside was that the advertised photos showed the stream, but in reality it was so overgrown that you couldn't see it & the brambles were starting to come up the sides & through the floor of the verandah. We were informed that the lodge had a lovely 180 degree view! The only view we had were trees surrounding the lodge. We did not mind the total privacy too much, but others may not like having nothing to see from any window. The hot tub would benefit from a cleaning net, to scoop out the flies & leaves that land in it while in use. Also a cleaning cloth/sponge to remove scum lines after each use. All in all, it is a lovely place to stay & relax in super surroundings. 1 Streamside was tip top & we didn't want to come home & certainly would return. Highly recommended for that much needed break.

We had stayed here about 3 years ago and loved it so much that we came back, this time for 4 nights.

We were informed that since our last visit the accommodation was now pet friendly. This wasn't a problem at the time, however there was what I call a doggy smell, not overpowering but noticeable all the same. This was not a major problem as it mostly dissappeared as we had all the doors open for most of our first day as we spent the afternoon and evening on the terrace and in the hot tub. On the evening of our second day, on our return from a day out, I sat down on one of the sofas and after a little while noticed several thick black dogs hairs and numerous finer white hairs on the seats. On closer inspection there were dog hairs on the floor, on the shelf underneath the occasional table and under the furniture. Thankfully there was no sign of hair or odour in the bedroom. I have to say that although it did not totally spoil our stay, we were very surprised and disappointed and as a result we would not book number 7 or any other pet friendly lodge on this site and although we would love to return would only now do so in accommodation where no pets are allowed.

The lodge itself is lovely, the gardens, car park and hot tub are all totally great.

And the amenities in the kitchen and bathroom are really great. The location is scenic and close to some amazing places that we had some great experiences at. We’d absolutely return to Cornwall. But… We found issues with a few things in the lodge, a) the bathrooms could have been cleaner. b) the amount of toilet rolls left was inadequate and no nespresso pods for a machine in the kitchen. If you didn’t want to leave and go find a Morrisons straight away you’d struggle after the first night. However we could overlook all this and recommend until the cows come home, if the next section hadn’t happened. We had some strange experiences. Noises at night on the decking (3am!! Every night) lights that didn’t actually work (bedside) turning on by themselves, drawers opening, TV lights flashing, things going missing, and a child saying “hello”…it was all very strange. And not something we’ve experienced before! The area used to be a theme park and we’re not sure if something sinister has happened… We truly think that the lodge should be cleansed?

We were aware that some soft furnishings would not be available to us, however, we were unable to enjoy any outdoor space as there were no cushions for the chairs and sun beds outside.

The wooden table and chairs outside were covered in algae and actually had weeds growing in the chairs, so they were not able to be used during our stay. There was also no lighting on the verandas. I felt uncomfortable stepping out doors in the evening especially on wooden decking which was naturally unlevel with gaps between the planks. The kitchen was very well equipped, except for some essential items that we were not told would be available to us…tea towels and oven gloves! Unfortunately we ended up having to use a hand towel from the bathroom for both of these purposes, which is less than perfect. Not having oven gloves I would consider to be a bit of a health and safety issue. I would also like to mention for future holiday makers at Streamside 7, that there were no windows for fresh air overnight. The only way to get a bit of air was to leave the doors wide open and unlocked which was a bit of a security issue for me. Other than that a great site, very clean, very peaceful, and I can highly recommend the steak from The Old Mill!
