"Yew Trees is in an excellent location allowing you to walk into Winderemere and Bowness or enjoy country walks from the door. The property has a great layout with very comfortable settees and comfortable beds and an excellent on-suite shower room although I cannot say the same about the over bath shower. Thank you for the bottle of fizz which was so good I went and bought another bottle. During our stay there was a short power cut in the evening and when we went to look for the torch we found it was missing. Also found that the knives in the kitchen were so bad that they were almost dangerous to us when attempting to cut an onion. I noted in the visitors book that someone had mentioned this back in April. The equipment and layout of the kitchen was excellent but extractor fan could do with cleaning/replacing. I found that the front on the top left drawer on the chest of drawers in the twin room pulled off because it hadn't been glued on. I also noted that the light when entering the basement/Garage area was very poor at illuminating the room an as this is down a couple of steps I would suggest that it is replaced with a different bulb. On entering the property at the front door we noted that there were no coat hooks in the hallway but there were some useful seats available to sit and pull footwear on. This is a good property in an excellent location which could be made great with a few tweaks such as loosing the piano and replacing it with a bookcase or other useful piece of furniture. I would also consider turning the bathroom into another shower room but I realise some visitors particularly those the children may want a bath. The exterior of the property and grounds could do with some TLC which would also make it more attractive and safe to use. It may also encourage visitors to use the rear door into the basement/garage to bring in muddy/wet equipment where I noted there were door hooks and drying racks. On another note I would recommend the Prince of India in Winderemere if you are looking a takeaway."

"This is a very good property due to its location being in a private area midway between Windermere and Bowness making it easy to walk to either. The property is spacious with just the right amount of equipment and not a lot of clutter. However the property could be excellent with a few tweaks. The outside of the property has recently been painted and some of the paving re-grouted but there are still some lose pavers and the picnic bench needs refurbishment as it detracts from the exterior of the property. I found that rain water was spilling out over the gutter at the front door and this was due to debris at the bottom of the drain spout which was being held in place by the drain cover. Would suggest that the drain spout should be cut back 1/2 to 1 inch to allow the debris to wash out. Some shrubs at the rear are too close to the property causing the guttering to block and overflow and the subsequent waterfall being heard from the bedrooms which is unfortunate at night. The hallway is spacious with chairs and a table but could benefit from coat hooks on the wall to the right of the door instead of having to drape them over chairs. The bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of storage space and loads of coat hangers. However the bedrooms are let down by poor curtains and curtain rails with end stops missing which means if you pull the curtains open too far they come off the track. The bathroom and on suite are excellent but both could benefit from having spare toilet roll holders to prevent space loo roll sitting on top of the toilet and possibly falling into the toilet. The fabric blind and light shade in the on suite have both become covered in mould. As there is an opaque window they could just remove the blind. The kitchen could do with a few hooks to put a towel and tea towel on."

"Cottage was perfectly situated for amenities and walking into Bowness but having two dogs with us there was nowhere for them to go of a night for toilet and as weather not always pleasant didn't fancy walking round streets looking for grass!! also parking was rather "tight", had to park right under bedroom window and "tuck" the car in as much as possible to allow other vehicles to pass, did damage front of car on very low wall as it was a tight squeeze turning round so could drive out of driveway instead of backing out as straight onto a busy road. Did have couple of problems with heating and pipes "knocking" during night, did get chap out but couldn't stop the "knocking" which keep us awake somewhat, plus not sure what or who were above us but not the quietest, were up and about early!!! Also taps in kitchen were very hard to switch on and off and as I have arthritis in hands struggled to use them ie fill kettle and wash dishes, just needed a little adjustment I think. Did say there was Freeview but there was a very limited amount of freeview available? not sure why ? as weather turned really wet we stayed in a cottage couple days as would have liked a little more choice of viewing. Found the cottage a little dark having to have lights on in hallway most of time and kitchen also had to have lights on when in there but comfortable otherwise and as I said ideally situated for amenities and motorway."

"The cottage is cosy, homely and full of character. It is generally spacious and clean and is in a fantastic location to access the amenities of Windermere town centre, with Bowness a 20-30 minute walk away. The kitchen is pretty well equipped, with fridge, freezer, washing machine (although this was out of order when we stayed), cooking utensils etc. The shower was good and the spa bath a nice surprise. It would be even better to know that feedback from customers is being acted upon, as I agree with other reviewers about the shortage of cutlery and the issues with the heating, which seemed to be on permanently (in a hot July) and no instructions on how to control it or set a timer. Turning down the thermostat made only a small difference. Perhaps some "guest information" inside the cottage might be helpful on this topic? One of the most important things to note, is that if you have anything other than a very small car, the "dedicated parking space" is no good. Be aware! However, despite this, the cottage was certainly very comfortable with lots of charm and we certainly enjoyed our stay, which is why I've still given it a high rating."

"cottage looked really nice on photos feedback looked good on most sites. Unfortunately that's were it ended, furniture was tired there were cob webs and spiders across the ceilings. Shower was broken and when reported it the first day, we were made to feel we had done it as she had checked that day. When going to bed at night it felt damp in the bed rooms and as the week went on the clothes in the wardrobe got damper. The cottage is advertised friendly for dogs that right the cottage is the outside is not as there are no gates stopping them getting into the grounds at the front were the other cottage is, the garden to the side you can not see them and there are other hazards such as a old storage shed and the veg garden is now covered in grass watch your ankles in the ploughed parts as all over grown. All doors are fire doors and they are very stiff to open, and the front step needs to be better for access in and out.The one up side is the location to walks, other areas and the village."
