We very greatly enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again some time in the future.
We live in the South East and very much wanted an escape from all the busyness of the world. We were not disappointed. The cabin is perfect for a retreat but it is close enough to beautiful and interesting places to also have a holiday. In fact we took advantage of the trails that pass right past the cabin and took the long walk past the old mine workings and along the valley and down to the quay. These walks are mostly through pine plantations with occasional views of the beautiful valley and fascinating for anyone with even the most casual interest in Victorian industrial archaeology . Anyone wanting more open countryside can take a short drive to Dartmoor which is as open as you could ever get! We had a fabulous lunch in Tavistock and at every turn we were surprised by how quiet (in a good way) everything was. Even Totnes and the South Ham's coastline is only an hour away so if bad weather requires something different this place is perfectly situated. Catherine, our host, was helpful and friendly and when I foolishly left my laptop charger behind she quickly returned it without my having to ask or pay for the postage. She made the cabin inviting for our arrival with scones and cream, which once heated up in the oven created a problem by way of awakening a taste for these delicious treats. Most importantly she allowed us to bring our very elderly cat, a very important personage without whose company we wouldn't have been able to come. The cat appreciated the warmth of the cabin and also enjoyed sitting outside with us soaking up the sun. The cabin is situated by itself so there is total privacy, peace and solitude. The very occasional person walks past on one of the trails but this in no way spoilt the solitude of the place. The only sounds are the wind in the trees and bird song so all in all - for anyone seeking escape from noise and bustle - this location is a winner.

A stunning dog friendly cottage with all the comforts of home.
The cottage had everything we needed and more for our weeks stay. The large enclosed garden and leisurely stroll to the lake were much appreciated by our furry friends. Itâs located in a very tranquil area but within less than an hours drive to many beaches in the Devon, North Cornwall coastlines along with being very much in the close vicinity of the Dartmoor National Park and itâs wonderful walks and history. Meldon and Fenworthy reservoirs are a must visit and within easy driving distance from the accommodation. We enjoyed reading in the information booklets provided by the owners the amazing story and pictures of how the farm and building conversions were developed by the present owners family. We used the local pub The Post Inn which was recommended and very dog friendly for a Sunday carvery and an evening meal both of which was superb. We will definitely return in the near future.

Although only a short drive from the A30, this cottage is situated on a peaceful country lane leading down to the moor.
The cottage was elegant and brilliantly equipped - nothing had been left to chance. The mattress on the king size bed was firm and fabulous - and ensured good sleeps. The beautiful and well-tended walled garden was happily secure enough for even the most adventurous of springer spaniels who spent many happy hours hunting the flower beds for squirrels whilst I lazed on the bench reading books. Genuinely dog-friendly, there is a stair-gate ensuring dogs can't accidentally explore upstairs and a roomy utility room where dogs can enjoy their own space. Peace of mind for everyone. Ideally suited to those who enjoy walking and those who appreciate the beauty and quiet of Dartmoor, the cottage offered a warm and cosy haven after a morning yomping across the moor.

We had a great week at miners dry, peaceful and relaxing and away from fireworks which our dogs are reactive to.
We personally didn't find the sofa very comfy that could be just us. The bed was nice and comfy. There is a lot of black mould in all the corners of this property and this bothers my chest due to health issues if I had seen this in reviews we wouldn't of booked, maybe it's due to all the wet weather but it needs attention. Toilet seat was quite dusty and sticky at the back and Toilet brush holder was full of old dirty water. The garden isn't fully inclosed as we thought but our girls are not wonder's but worth mentioning. The TV sound has gone funny i think the speakers are gone. It's was a shame because this property is delightful and in a fantastic area We made the most of our time in miners dry and we did enjoy the area very much.

The first thing that blew us was the size of the garden, fully enclosed so we felt safe in knowing that our two mini schnauzers couldnât get out.
Itâs big enough to build another house in and have a decent garden by todays standards. I was a bit concerned after booking this property after reading youâre allowed to unload your car on arrival but it has to be parked through a gate just down the narrow road. This isnât anything to worry about because where you park your car is by the garden gate which also a private lane to the pond so when going out in the car we used the back gate all the time. It was a pleasant walk down to the pond which had a pair of Canada geese in residence with two young. Also saw some roe deer chasing each other in the field next to us. Large bedroom with a comfortable bed. Linhay was well equipped with everything youâd need and we would recommend it.
