What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lorna - Verified booking

This property is well furnished with comfortable furniture and beds, good pillows and bedding.

The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials. It is smaller than the pictures makes it appear and we had dog crates with us which makes it quite cramped. There is also some mould on the grouting in the shower and round the window in the bathroom. The welcome pack consists of a packet of Tesco scones, clotted cream and jam. I am gluten and lactose intolerant, the owners obviously did not know but in this day and age with vegetarians, vegans and intolerances couldn’t help feeling it could be more imaginative. The patio doors from the garden go through the bedroom, it was very wet when we stayed and I was terrified a wet, muddy dog would jump on the bed, with careful manoeuvring they didn’t but there was no mop available in the property to wash the floors. We had asked to take 3 dogs via Sykes which the owner agreed to. We did have issues regarding the washing machine and dryer, it was a very wet week when we were there and each time we went to use the washer or drier they were both in use with big notices on them telling us not to remove whatever was in them, there was a contact number, when phoned no one answered, we didn’t bother leaving a message. The hot tub shed is kept locked, which means in effect you have to get permission to use it by asking for the key, which I didn’t. There is nothing in the property about the local area, walks or activities, no leaflets or maps. There is also nothing for if the weather is bad, there are no games, books or playing cards. Due to circumstances I spent a lot of time on my own in the property but had fortunately taken books with me. We did have some issues regarding the adjoining door between properties, we had booked both, I would suggest you get very clear assurances from Sykes and the owner about the arrangements you require before booking.

We have had many self catering holidays in the past but this one at 3 The Old Smoke House surpassed all our expectations. The owner Brian Green was extremely helpful with information and directions. The location at Charlestown and its little very ancient harbour of Tall Ships fame and film sets was delightful with many eating venues and pubs all within less than 5 minutes walk. We were very surprised on arrival to find that the owner had left us a lovely gift wrapped present of local coffee, biscuits and salt etc. Thank you Brian - this was much enjoyed. The property itself was of an extremely high standard, exceptional well-fitted with appliances and the necessary kitchen utensils. The bedrooms, bathroom/shower and sitting room were immaculate and plenty of hot water. In particular I loved the "monsoon" shower although my wife preferred the other attachment since she did not want to get her hair wet! The house and very well maintained little garden was perfect for our dog and the small beach, outside the harbour, ideal for recreation. All in all a perfect holiday and we will definitely return when we are next down in Cornwall.

We fell in love with the cottage, area and Cornwall.

Leghorn is a five star cottage with fluffy white towels, white bed linen, peace and tranquillity. It is immaculately clean, we took our two small dogs and assumed they would smell other dogs, there was no doggie smell at all. The owner is on hand if needed but basically let’s you get on and enjoy your holiday. We had fresh eggs from the farm and wish we had bought more to bring home. Eggs delivered to our door! Each cottage has its own hot tub, ours was in the barn with a great sea view from the open stable door. We had the key to the barn which meant we pleased ourselves when we used it. We were entertained evenings by the goat and sheep, horses and cows. The Eden project is within walking distance though a lovely country walk which takes approx 20 minutes. Easy reach to the rest of Cornwall. I can not recommend this place enough, we will definitely be returning. Thank you Leghorn for the lovely memories we’ve made.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Casa Mia. It is in a very convenient position just south of St. Austell. We were able to visit many beautiful places nearby, including Charlestown, Fowey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and the Roseland Peninsula. The cottage is in a very quiet village near a beach. It was a real bonus to have private parking and garden. The view from the garden is spectacular! The property and equipment were exceptionally clean, the huge bed was very comfortable. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The village church is s few steps from the property and supermarkets and a fish and chip shop are within a ten minute drive. The owner, Janet, came to make sure all was well on our first evening. A cream tea and flowers awaited us in the cottage, as well as books and leaflets regarding the area to look at. A good stay!

We had an absolutely amazing time here at Leghorn.

The cottage is stunning and decorated to a high standard. Everything you need is on hand to help you with your self catering stay from a dishwasher, microwave and oven down to a bottle opener. The double room and ensuite toilet/shower is down stairs and the twin room with ensuite/bath is upstairs. There is plenty of space for a family of four. The cream tea waiting for us on our arrival was a beautiful gesture. The owners were on hand to help us with any queries not that we had very many. The hot tub was a god send after a busy day visiting family and places. The cottage has some spectacular sea views and is central to many attractions. We had some very peaceful nights sleeps too in very comfortable beds. We will definitely be visiting this little gem very very soon. Also loved meeting the grumpy goat who visited every evening.
