What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Gaffney - Verified booking

The house was even better than we had expected .. absolutely perfect for 6 adults, 2 teenagers, an 8 year old and 1 well behaved dog. The occasion was an important family one … my 80th birthday(!), so a delicious roast dinner was prepared and cooked in the amazingly well-equipped kitchen, by 1 couple with assistance from extra hands for peeling etc. Those in the house, as well as further family of 5 adults and a 4 and 2 year old, staying nearby all ate comfortably in the dining room and breakfast area. There was an enormous amount of space for children to play safely, or watch tv, allowing the adults to relax and thoroughly enjoy themselves. The weather was chilly but bright and we all walked to the Harbour Inn along the beach, dunes and track, as well as exploring the town. The house was ideally situated a short walk from everywhere .. the pier, the beach and the shops. Perfect in every way. We will definitely come to Southwold House again and have already recommended it to several friends. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to share your magnificent property!

    • Mr Edgson Wright - Verified booking

The location was ideal and only a short walk from the main shopping area and the beach. Gulls Nest provided everything needed to ensure we had a comfortable base in Southwold. The modern kitchen had every appliance you could possibly need including a washing machine and dishwasher. The whole cottage was clean and was like home from home with nice touches such as ornaments and pictures. There was also a lovely welcome pack. Washing up liquid, hand soap and loo rolls were also included which was really helpful. An off road parking space and a small courtyard with table and chairs was an added bonus. We had our little dog with us and there are plenty of places to walk. The area is very dog friendly and most cafes and some shops allowed dogs inside. The countryside in Suffolk is beautiful and we found plenty to do in Southwold and also within driving distance. Overall, we had a lovely time and would recommend both the property and area.

There is nothing negative to say about Southwold House! It's a beautiful house with comfortable furnishings throughout and set in a perfect location close to the sea. It's a large house and we were concerned it would feel a bit chilly for a winter break however we were all very cosy and comfortable. All six bedrooms were of a good size with comfortable beds etc. The kitchen is well stocked and a great sociable area, we made a full roast dinner with no problem at all. There are 3 other downstairs living areas and we made use of all of them. I would definitely return to this property.

    • Mr Danielsson - Verified booking

Lovely location, property and items. Quiet street and close to the town centre ( less than 5 mins ) and a further few minutes to the beach. Parking space good for our car - but very large cars would find it a bit narrow. Very cosy and homely with plenty of equipment and utilities. Small bathroom downstairs, but had a bath and very good double shower over it ( large and small ). Stairs are little steep - but have a good hand rail. Nice small paved garden with furniture for sitting out, and a shed. We would gladly stay again.

    • Ms Robinson - Verified booking

We enjoyed our stay at Cygnet Cottage, it is a perfect location but the cottage is only suitable for people (and their pets) who are fully mobile and able-bodied. The staircase is very steep and not safe for anyone with young children or with mobility issues. One could not safely or easily carry things/children when going downstairs as one needs to hold on to the bannisters at all times. The living room is also somewhat bijou. It is a bit cramped for 4 people. Courtyard garden was nice to sit in for mealtimes.
