What our customers say about their holidays

    • Tanya - Verified booking

This was meant to be a very relaxing family holiday.

We found on arrival that the lodge was in very poor condition. There was pet and human hair in the carpet and in the draws! The property had a very offensive smell of a stale/mould. The cupboards in the kitchen gave off an awful musky smell. Myself and my disabled mother spent the first day cleaning the whole place and yet the property owners failed to have a decent working hoover or alternative dust pan and brush forcing me to clean the floor on my hands and knees! The hoover smelt so bad when switched on the bag has clearly never seen the light of day! It was like 50 pairs of old smelling socks! Needless to say I am extremely dissatisfied with the experience of our stay. No one should have to have gone on holiday only to have to spent the first few hours cleaning! I had to buy my own air fresheners to help keep the bad smells at bay. We were keen to leave the lodge on a daily basis but sadly the weather was not on our side and we spent many a rainy day in the lodge. The other thing is if it rains you have nowhere to dry your washing. A clothes horse would have been really handy! The place on a whole was not very inviting. The only decent thing was the hot tub. However I will point out that two of the head rests were missing and one day the owner left his bag of chemicals lying around and forgot to switch the hot tub back on. I have a young 3year old who luckily didn’t get hold of these chemicals. The owners were made aware of all of these matters but nothing was done to compensate us. The outside bbq was rusty and full of old coal which again the smell was just horrendous, safe to say we didn’t use this but it would have been nice to have had the option given it was advertised as having a bbq. The sofa bed is just awful! It is made up of springs and no padding, this is not fit for anyone to sleep on and my daughter complained each evening from how uncomfortable it was! On the last day the owner called and left me a voice message to say a new WiFi router was being installed. We came back to the lodge to find a new router but no instructions on what the new password was so we had no use of the telly or WiFi connection which was very disappointing! The mobile number I had been emailed wasn’t connecting and the office was closed. All in all a dry disappointing stay at Keylow and I would like to be compensated for spending a week feeling miserable in a holiday lodge with misleading pictures and information on your website.

We stayed at Tredarn at the beginning on July, and WOW what an experience.

Firstly the home is absolutely stunning. The house was clean and welcoming, the snacks left were fabulous and the kitchen was fully equit. The rooms were pristine and so cosy. We had a problem when we arrived as the dryer had been reported broken by the previous guests. HOWEVER, Jane was so lovely and offered launderette expenses.. not that we took her up on this, these things happen and who actuals wants to wash cloths on there holiday anyway. We also met Mr Tredarn who came the day the dryer repair man came and he was equally as lovely. Both Stuart and the repair man were so friendly, both so apologetic when the dryer couldt be fixed (again not the owners fault). The hot tub was fabulous, the kiddos loved it! We had our 2 doggies and they settled straight away. Hayle is beautiful, the beach was fabulous and places like Penzance, St Ives and lands end are so close. If your looking for a beautiful home in a beautiful seaside town, then this is the one!. It's a gem and well definitely be back next year. We actually fell in love. Can I also shout out to Jules and her husband who turned up alittle before we left (concierge) again absolutely fantastic people, so down to earth and lovely to chat with. Thank you for having us! Honest review.

.. location wasn’t the best nothing really around apart from 1 pub (for local people) and a londis, closest supermarket about 20 minute drive each way. We did more driving than anything this last week nothing local that’s any good. Lodge itself. Jacuzzi was brilliant perfect for relaxing after a long drive everyday. Outside furniture seats just left out to ruin in rain which was disappointing. No bbq at the lodge, I think you had to request one from reception. No washing line of any kind to dry towels or bathing suits,(other 2 lodges do have one each) Living room/kitchen open plan good setup all modern appliances in kitchen all work as they should. Don’t expect to be able to put a lot in fridge only essentials. Comfy sofa in room and a single chair also tv with freeview reception goes quite a bit but your not there to sit and watch tv. Bedroom 1 3 quarter bed very comfortable little wardrobe and plenty drawer space. Bedroom 2 two single beds again comfy and enough storage. Shower room. Shower wouldn’t drain properly and had a leak. Toilet and basin as expected. Overall 6/10 was ok probably wouldn’t stop again as location too far from anywhere but that was my fault when booking not Sykes. Looking forward to our next holiday in Newquay with Sykes though.

Photographs on the Cornwall Hideaways website do not do this place justice, even though the photos are great. Westaway is a superb home for a holidaying family wishing to explore Cornwall. The house itself is a superb example of a modern, well-furnished and perfect coastal home. In our party there were 6 adults and two infants all were well accommodated and comfortable throughout our stay. Anyone turning up at this house for a holiday will not be disappointed, views that linger in the memory from most rooms and a wraparound balcony with a large hot tub also with a view of the beach and coast. Portreath, the village is a nice quiet little place that seems to have developed to service the new coastal properties that have appeared in modern times. We were there at the end of May and the weather was poor, this didn't detract anything from the luxurious house which was warm and yet could be opened to the elements on a nice day by opening up the bi folding doors which led out to the balcony for the best views in that area, A fantastic place to stay!

Well what can we say about Westaway apart from IT'S AMAZING! It's immaculately kept, very clean and comfortable with everything you will need catered for. The house itself is in a perfect location with a view that you will never get tired of. You can also fall asleep to the sound of the sea waves crashing against the shore. Despite the beach not being dog friendly between 10am and 6pm, we managed very well with our two springers. They loved their early morning walks along the beach which was popular with lots of dogs. Make sure to take a ball! The wet room on the ground floor was just bliss to shower off the sand. The village itself is great. Locals are really friendly. Great pub within walking distance which has a big screen showing sport, a pool table and dartboard. The fish and chip restaurant and takeaway was delicious. Make sure you book. There is a beautiful coffee shop serving breakfast and lunch. Both have live entertainment during the Summer. We were glad that we had booked for two weeks.
