What our customers say about their holidays

    • Craig - Verified booking

The Banquet House provided us with a wonderful place to stay for our family in August 2023.

If you’re after a character property that’s well equipped and you don’t mind a low doorway or two, this is a great place to stay in North Wales. When I say character, I mean a property that’s well over 500 years old that has been beautifully looked after and restored and features on the town trail! The beams throughout are beautiful, the floors squeaky and the trapdoor and tunnel in the living room gives you somewhere to put the kids when they’re misbehaving for a couple of hours. Our dog Olive also loved the walled garden, and we particularly enjoyed sitting out on a night in the summerhouse with a glass of something listening to the waterfall in the pond. Jan and Mark, the owners were excellent in terms of communication by text throughout and also accommodated our request to be able to plug our car into the 13 amp socket in the little outhouse. Rhuddlan is a quiet little town that’s well located for lots of things in the north eastern part of Wales. Prestatyn beach is 15 minutes away, Chester Zoo 35 minutes, Llandudno 30 minutes or south to Llangollen about 50 minutes. However, at the end of the street is the gem of Rhuddlan Castle, also surrounded by some lovely walks to take the dog. Rumour has it (although unconfirmed) that the aforementioned tunnel (I didn’t really put the kids in there for a couple of hours) used to link to the castle, but apparently when a previous owner started excavating it, there was a bit of handy subsidence. A wonderful little stay. Thank you.

We have just had the pleasure of spending a week in the beautiful Banquet House in Rhuddlan, and we are looking forward to returning again in the future.

The house is simply beautiful, with its own unique quirks that make it so special. We would enjoy sitting and enjoying a meal in the dining room/garden room early in the day, admiring the lovely garden area. Later in the day we would move in to the warm and cozy living room with the log fire roaring....perfect!! The main bedroom was beautiful, the huge bed, old fireplace and shutters made you feel like you were living in days gone by, just magical. The summerhouse in the garden was also a lovely addition to the house , it was perfect for sitting in with a glass of wine enjoying the view of the house when the sun was shining. The house itself is set within a few minutes walk to Rhuddlan Castle and the main high street where there are some local shops, take aways and couple of pubs which is good if you want to stay local. During our stay we visited lots of places including Anglessy, which was well worth the hours drive too, the Welsh Mountain Zoo, which we loved, Dyserth Waterfalls and Conwy to name but a few. We also bumped in to the owners, Jan and Mark, when out for a walk in the area. They were really friendly and advised us of places to visit too. The welcome pack and fresh flowers was such a lovely touch also. We would highly reccomend a stay at the Banquet House.

Impossible to say too many good things about The Banquet House.

For us the main thing was the garden being secure, which it is. Completely walled and large in size, with lots of little nooks for the dogs to sniff around, and play. Parking area was gated, which gave us added security. The house offered everything we needed during our stay. Comfort, convenience and so much more. Everything you need is on your doorstep, shops for groceries, good choice of takeaways and restaurants, as well as great walks. We visited Conwy, Llandudno, Livepool, Chester and Talacre Beach. All so dog friendly and easily accessible. We were lucky with the weather during our stay, so we were able to enjoy the beautiful garden too. Jan and Mark were easily contactable during our stay, not that we needed them as everything was perfect for us. Really was a perfect and relaxing stay for us and our precious dogs, so cannot rate highly enough. We really hope to visit again soon to explore more of the area.

This is a loverly cottage in a great rural location with the added bonus of an enclosed garden for our dog to sit out and enjoy.

The property is only a quick drive away from the main town for all your shopping needs and close to the main highways so you don’t have to travel that far to get going when you want venture out and about. There are also some lovely walks you can take straight from your doorstep which was very handy. We had a couple of minor gripes - the water pressure in the main bathroom was not the greatest and some work is required in regard to the wash basin taps as they were loose and moved when you turned them on and off. The other main issue was the WiFi, it was very good in the kitchen, and in the up stairs bedroom (directly above the kitchen) but awful on the other side of the house where the main front room and TV is located. I would recommend to the owner to install some WiFi boosters around the house as this would definitely help. Overall though our stay was great and we would definitely stay again in the future.

The house was lovely, very clean and well equipped.

It was a fantastic size and suited myself, mum and 4 year old perfectly. The garden was a nice size and secure for our two miniature dachshunds. When we first entered the house you could tell the heating had been on, it was lovely and warm and really hit you. The heating didn't come back on though, we tried to override it as per the instructions but nothing worked. It did get a bit cool in the evenings but there was 2 plug in heaters that kept us warm. Some clearer instructions on how to reach the house would be great, my sat nav sent me up a residential street which then went into a very narrow and steep lane before announcing we'd reached our destination. However, the owner was a phone call away and once we'd be guided onto the correct road, the house is very easy to find! All in all, a lovely stay, we was very lucky with the weather and spent our few days in October on the beach!! Thank you!
