Our stay in Shireâs End was an absolute joy, it is a beautifully appointed and furnished Hobbit Hole and we were loath to leave!
We had a virtually fully self-catered 7 days and, while quite small as it needed to be, the fridge and freezer were ample and anything we didnât have we could just pop to Tesco, Sainsburyâs or Morrisonâs for - which was super convenient. The location itself is gorgeous and the views incredible. There is so much to see around the area and nearby. Being on the borders of Wales, too, meant visits there as well were straightforward and incredibly scenic! One wish that weâd have is that the mattress be a bit more comfy and the frame itself a bit less creaky - otherwise, we slept well and just cannot knock this incredible place. Our hosts were lovely, left us to it but were also there if we needed them - they left us some hobbit cakes on our welcome, together with some garlic grown last year. Both were utterly delicious!! Just remember to say if youâve any intolerances/allergies as Iâd not even thought to before we left. Finally, watching the extended (of course!!) LOTR trilogy from the imagined purview of a hobbit was an awesome experience!! Stay and have a wonderful time. We hope to return in the near future, too!

Another fantastic stay at Manor Cottage.
This was our fourth visit to Ludlow and as usual we were not disappointed. Following a warm welcome from our genial albeit unobtrusive host Phil we set about exploring the Marches and hitherto unfamiliar parts of Mid Wales. We thoroughly recommend the Elan Vally, a mere fifty minutes drive through stunning scenery. For those, like us who have a horse mad eleven year old in tow the nearby North Farm Equestrian Centre provides some lovely hacks through Mortimer Forest. Excellent dog walks too. Similarly, Darky Dale Riding Stables near Befstone provides much enjoyment in surroundings that leave an indelible impression. Returning home to the ease and comfort of Manor Cottage always provides a bonus. A mere five minutes walk takes you to the Queens where a warm Shropshire welcome and a truly excellent menu awaits. Here's the secret - Ludlow provides amazingly good value for money. We often proclaim 'how much!' and not for reasons one might expect. Thanks Phil; thanks Shropshire; thanks Ludlow. The Davies family from (expensive) Southwold, Suffolk.

We had a lovely holiday which came at a really sad time.
The cottage was spacious, lovely and well equipped with everything you needed and more with some nice touches. For example, some milk left in the fridge and fresh flowers. One bedroom had 2 single beds in and therefore could accommodate 5 guests. There is off road parking and could accommodate 2 cars. The host was lovely, visiting us a couple of times to check we were ok and to wish us well on our travels. We managed to visit many areas in and around Ludlow- Worcester cathedral, Shrewsbury, Blist Hill Victorian town and had some lovely meals out. I would definitely recommend the Athena Greek restaurant, The George too. The Tapas not so good! Ludlow centre is probably more than 5 minutes walk from the cottage I would say 10-15 minute walk with a steep hill, but once you get into the centre itâs lovely. Places to eat and drink close early so make sure you go out early. The locals were extremely friendly. The weather was sunny all week except for 1 day when it rained in the afternoon. Overall it was a great stay!

What an incredible stay in the perfect hobit hole !
Ample room and well equipped for all your needs. great use of the space, Lots of room considering its a hobbit hole, my 6ft4 boyfriend had plenty space no need to duck or squeeze in. Everything was really clean and tidy with a super comfy and beautiful bed we were so sad to leave behind. Some delicious treats to welcome us including home grown garlic, fresh oj and milk, home made bilbos seed cake everything was delicious! Hosts Peter and Karen went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions we can't thank them enough, Truly amazing kind and friendly people! We Loved our wooly neighbours too and our visits from kitty. Could not think of a better place to propose to my boyfriend for the leap year, i should say my now fiancé! The attention to detail was brilliant so many clever ways to incorporate both the hobbit and lord of the rings in a tasteful way. We cannot wait to come back next year, already planned our next stay ! Thank you for an amazing experience â¤ï¸

We arrived at our cottage as arranged and being given an e mail with helpful information about our stay and also how to use amenities in the Cottage.
Everything that was expected was very accurate and what we expected. We had no problem with the shower area or the three flights of stairs but we are small people and understand how this could be difficult for some people especially with mobility issues. A hand basin would be helpful in the upstairs toilet as mentioned by others. The cottage was compact and clean for us and very olde worlde which we loved. The beds were comfortable and the location was great as it is a short walk away from the town itself. Supermarkets and the railway station are also a 5 minute walk away which is great as car parking is more difficult. The Ludlow brewery was a good find and also easy to get to. We would have been so grateful however if a drop of milk were left so we could have made a cup of tea upon arrival. We did appreciate the history of the street over the centuries in the books that were in the cottage.
