What our customers say about their holidays

    • Alan - Verified booking

Thank you Judy and Stuart for allowing us to rent this beautiful bungalow and the welcome pack and dog treats.

The property is very well equipped and has loads of space. There are a selection of DVDs, children toys and dog toys. We stayed from 8th July to 22nd July so unlike previous years we seen our fair share of rain. Not that it stopped us having a fantastic time and the owners had thought of everything. (the umbrellas came in very handy ). With the rain it meant that we did spend more time in the bungalow and found the conservatory to be a god send. Sat in the warmth with the doors open listening to the rain on the roof whilst reading was quite therapeutic. The bungalow is dog friendly and we could let our dog roam around the garden safe in the knowledge that she could not escape. It is also a sun trap both at the front and back. There are places to sit in both gardens and chairs also in the shed that you can use. Despite the weather we still went on numerous walks around both Ludlow and the surrounding areas, visiting many places. The walk around the castle is a must. (Not in the castle itself as we didn’t do that). The walk leads to the river where dogs can have a paddle and a short walk later you are walking at the side of the river into the woods. The Co-Op and Squirrel pub are both just minutes walk away as is a field for dogs to have a good run. We preferred to walk into the town in the evening which takes around 20 minutes at a leisurely pace, although we also caught the bus a few times which are dog friendly. If you have a dog, the pubs are all dog friendly. We mainly used the Queens pub as we got talking to a few local people who were really friendly and gave us loads of ideas for walks, most of which we did. The town itself has plenty of places to eat and pubs to drink in. There is a little shop in Ludlow called Vaughans which does an amazing hog roast sandwich. The bacon and sausage baguette is huge so we would buy one to share. They also do a good salad/pasta bar. If you have children i’d recommend a visit to Queenswood Country park. It has a gruffalo trail for kids and a nice play area for them. The cafe also serves reasonably priced food and drinks and plenty of tables if you want to take you own picnic. The walk in the woods is easy going and push chair friendly. If like us you only had a dog then you can venture into the wooded area for a walk. Carding Mill valley is also a good walk with the dog and has fantastic views and a waterfall to walk to, although wear proper footwear as it is quite rugged. We also visited stiperstones which has amazing views into Wales. It can be a tough walk but well worth the effort. There is also a pub nearby called Bridges which has pleasant views and serves food. There are also a number of forest walks on your doorstep and loads of lovely villages around the area. We will defiantly be looking to come back as we had a fantastic time.

We have just returned home from a short Tuesday to Sunday break at Roseland.

The property is amazing. It was very clean and had lots of little extras making it more homely such as an abundance of tea towels, towels, cleaning supplies, dishwasher tablets, wash machine tablets, cotton buds and pads etc which all make the difference. The property is well decorated and has lovely little touches homely touches such as plants, ornaments etc. The information booklet provided is hefty with lots of information in it. We did not use the conservatory due to attending the property in January but I can imagine looking out over the garden from the conservatory in summer would be lovely. The garden is well kept. The house is lovely. The kitchen has all you could need for preparing meals (we were lazy and had a take out each night or went to the local pub) but had we cooked we could have with ease. The living room is comfortable and the heating is easy to adjust. The bedrooms are decorated well and the beds are comfortable. The upstairs toilet was a bonus so you were not having to come downstairs during the night to use the bathroom. All in all the property has 5 out of 5 for homeliness and comfort. The area now. Roseland is about a 20 minute walk from the center of Ludlow. We found a couple of different routes in and had a pleasant walk there with the dog several times. On the opposite side of the main road in there was a large field for dog walking however at this time of the year was a bit muddy and once the sun had gone down very dark so great for looking at the stars. Also towards the petrol station at the top of the road there was a walk to a field at the back of the estate that Roseland is on for walks. Again at night it was very dark on here and due to the time of year a bit muddy but this is to be expected. Ludlow itself was very pretty. We had a walk around and lunch in Ludlow Church on our first morning. It was very nice but on the expensive side for lunch. The town was full of stunning historic properties and had quite a few little local shops. During the week there were a couple of stalls on the little market but on Saturday when we walked to Ludlow to visit the castle the market stalls were all full. The castle was lovely (it is only open weekends during winter months, check the website for opening times / days) It is in very good condition and lots of information markers around explaining what you were looking at and when it had been built / knocked down and rebuilt / converted etc. It was well worth a visit. To sum up I would recommend a visit to Ludlow and would recommend Roseland for anyone wanting to visit.

The cottage was well decorated and very clean.

The wrap around garden is lovely and would be stunning in the Spring/Summer. The house is in a lovely quiet spot with plenty of space to park on the drive. Our dogs were secure in the garden but it would have been nice to be able to keep them confined to the rear of the property, thereby keeping them in view and away from the front gate and making it easier to clear up behind them. Once the back door was open, they each ran in different directions…. maybe gates could be added to the sides of the house in the long term? I created temporary barriers using wheelie bins and the garden table. Unfortunately we found the sofa very uncomfortable, , not so good for older backs…. and the fridge far too small, we tended to eat in which meant shopping every day as we couldn’t store much.

Kingfisher cottage is a delightful, cosy cottage in a gorgeous riverside location.

We enjoyed eating outside overlooking the river. It's a very peaceful spot in a lovely town. There were no problems at all parking in the neighbouring streets, and it was so smooth organising the parking permit with the owner. The bedroom and bathroom are a good size - but taller people take care as the bedroom doorway is quite low! The kitchen is small but is good for cooking - there's no room for a washing machine, so take enough clothes (we're glad we read the listing in advance). We had a delightful stay with our dog in Ludlow, and would totally recommend this charming property.
