What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ucilla - Verified booking

Heatherbank is a lovely property and immaculately clean.

Firstly the inside: good size living area with internet tv which includes Netflix and Prime. The kitchen area is well equipped with a large fridge freezer, hob & oven, toaster kettle, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and air fryer and plenty of cups, plates etc. there was also basic supplies of oil, salt, pepper, kitchen towels, tinfoil etc. Bedrooms were all of a good size as were the shower rooms. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of towels supplied. Outside was a large seating area with gas fire pit on the table. On upper area which has lovely views, was a large hot tub (newly installed the day before we arrived) beside which was a further table and chairs, just below this area is a large stone built BBQ. The owner Dougie is very friendly and attentive and took time to explain how everything worked. He is doing a copious amount of work in the garden which doesn’t infringe on present guests and when finished will included a large decked area further up the garden and even a golf practise area, would love to come back and see the finished product ! Had no negatives with this property and even the short rough track is perfectly accessible if driven slowly. If walking to the village it takes approx 12-15min and there is a good taxi service if you prefer. Had a lovely meal in The Anchor hotel and delicious carry out from the Chinese which sadly is closing end of September. Would definitely recommend this cottage .

Last year when we were searching properties for our next sojourn north of the border we stumbled across 'Gaidrew'.

It was a little bit more than our budget allows but it was in an area of Scotland that we hadn't explored before. When reading through the previous reviews, I must admit we thought, "Really? The cottage can't be THAT good!" Nevertheless, we decided to give it a go. To say that it it is as good as the previous reviews would be be doing Fiona, Gill and Crawford, aka 'The A Team', an injustice. If Venice Simplon-Orient Express, Cunard, or for that matter Carlsberg did holiday cottages, 'Gaidrew' would be up there with them. The quality of the furnishings, the equipment, the fittings and the attention to detail is simply outstanding. Not to mention the most comfortable bed we have had the pleasure to sleep in away from home, ever! To stay in a place like this with 90 acres of farmland where you can wander freely with 400 sheep for company is heaven. There is even a little nature area set up by a burn that feeds into Endrick Water, the river that runs through the farm, where you can sit quietly soaking in the peace and tranquillity with the company of the deer. There are plenty of walks either from the cottage or a short drive away to take in the breath taking scenery. An unforgettable holiday, thank you.

      The Pirie Family.

15th - 29 July,22. We were excited to return to this property for a second time. Boy did it not let us down.Everything was exactly as we remembered on our first visit.Absolutely faultless & 5 star plus.An avid cottage rental family,Gaidrew Cottage is still up there at the top.Fiona,Gill & Crawford (The A Team) are amazing hosts. They are all very approachable at any time,if you need to. They all go that extra mile for the guests. Nothing is too much trouble. I can even go as far as to say,it felt like our home from home,on returning to the cottage. The cottage & area all felt familiar.Loads to do & see in the area.We were there for two weeks & still would need longer to stay at the cottage. The weather this time was absolutely amazing ,like all areas. The patio, brolley & furniture were never out of use.We spent more time at the cottage, outside than inside. The views are logged in our memories,as is the cottage. We miss the home bakes, now we’re home, with the fruit etc.It was a lovely welcoming treat for us on arrival. We would love to return to the cottage at some point. We would like to thank The A team (Fiona,Gill & Crawford),who all made our stay a most welcome & restfull break.

We booked Gaidrew Cottage because we wanted somewhere we could relax.

What a great choice, we were made to feel so welcome when we were met at the cottage and given a quick tour, everything was immaculate and the owners have clearly taken a lot of time to consider the decoration of the cottage, the furniture is comfortable and the overall ambience of the property is wonderful. The beds and bedding are something else, comfortable, warm and tasteful. Cleanliness is obviously important to the owners and the cottage is spotless without being clinical, a home from home for us. Everything you need is at the cottage and the owners provide things you never even considered. As a base to explore Loch, Lomond, Loch Katrine and The Trossachs the cottage is ideally placed and Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling are within easy reach. The village of Drymen is really close by and the Spar there is well stocked, there is also a bakery/deli, two pubs, The Clachan is well worth a visit. But back to the cottage, if you are considering booking then go for it, we cannot recommend it highly enough and we doubt you will be disappointed. We certainly were not and at some point we will be returning. Beautiful.

      A wonderful week

Thank you for the wonderful joy of a week in your beautiful home. We had a really special time in your fascinating house and loved every moment. We admired the art work and tapestries and were particularly taken with the beautiful stained glass windows in the music room. We did not notice the bad weather as we just so enjoyed a change of scenery and the beautiful walks around Loch Lomond. I would definitely recommend hiking up Conic Hill as it is not too long although fairly steep. It takes about 1,5 hours and the views of the region are spectacular. We enjoyed a few more local walks from just above Hill House and along the Loch which were nice options on rainy days. We spent a day in Glasgow and so enjoyed the vintage shops and botanical gardens and my husband John was thrilled to spend a couple of afternoons fishing in the reservoir up the road. All in all we had a fabulous stay with so much to do and plenty of time for relaxing at home, reading, playing games and eating delicious meals cooked on the Aga. Many thanks for a wonderful week in a home that oozes charm and feels like a castle.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

Glassy waters surrounded by forest and snow-capped mountains make Loch Lomond one of the most beautiful destinations in Scotland. Situated along the fault that separates the Lowlands from the Highlands, the largest lake in Great Britain offers breathtaking views. Then delve deeper into Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to discover crumpled hills, welcoming villages and yet more stunning views. Take a tranquil boat ride across the sparkling lake and you’ll surely come across a selection of pubs and restaurants.

    Ben A'an

The prominent pointed peak of Ben A'an is a recognisable feature of the Trossachs landscape. The Gaelic word "the little, pointy peak" is where its name actually originates. The car park is at the base of the mountain, which offers panoramic views of Loch Achray in itself, while the views from the summit extend as far as the Arrochar Alps on the western coast of Loch Lomond. There are several different walking routes to the summit.

    Loch Lomond Shores

A stunning visitor location, Loch Lomond offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. As well as breathtaking scenery, there's an aquarium, watersports, shopping and pop-up events. Parking is available and most of the park is accessible for those with mobility issues. Dogs are welcome.
