Irene is a superb host.
Her attention to detail combined with some beautiful touches makes Lakeside Cottage a true home a way from home. The hamper we received was so generous and thoughtful for our arrival and there was plenty of wood there to keep the fires going. The house is so comfortable and inviting and the chrome cast available meant we could watch Netflix and our favourite movies. The cottage is located in a very peaceful and tranquil place with lovely views at sunrise and sunset. If you want some quality rest and recuperation I couldnât recommend anywhere more suitable. A lovely 6km walk around the lake was so invigorating and many more walks to do. Roscommon was never on our list of places to go but after this visit itâs now one of the hidden gems especially with the beautiful surroundings and sense of serenity and solitude. Carrick on Shannon is 20 mins drive and we had a very friendly taxi driver who was inexpensive. Boyle is also nearby with some nice places to visit. Everyone we met on our walks were so friendly and we canât wait to return sometime soon. Ed and Callum

The owners were away, as the wife had recently suffered a stroke.
We were disappointed by the quality of the towels and the general wear and tear on the apartment. There was no bath mat for the shower room, but in all fairness we didn't mention this to the owner's daughter. The shower gave one of us an electric shock and the daughter arranged for it to be replaced the same day. The apartment is divided from the main house by a "corridor" which was almost flooded by the heavy rain the day after we arrived. The apartment then smelt musty and damp for the rest of our stay, even though we used the electric heaters provided. The views are beautiful, but were marred by a camper van parked at the front of the house!

Everything about this property has the feeling of being well considered, which makes it feel like a home from home.
Perhaps even better! The host, Irene, had left a little welcome hamper, which was greatly appreciated and unexpected. There was also tea, coffee, some spices etc in the cupboard, so lovely. There was plenty of wood available for the stoves, which was again, so welcome, as the weather when we stayed was dreadful. However, the cottage was so comfortable that we only noticed the terrible weather when we looked out the windows. During our stay we discovered lots of attractions which were a delight to visit. We have NO hesitation in recommending this property and when time allows, we hope to return.

A beautifully equipped and comfortable cottage in a superb location overlooking the Lake.
Every assistance, facility and provision you can think of is provided along with that special sense of local hospitality and welcome which makes a holiday in Ireland so delightful. The coast and beaches at Sligo are in easy reach and the sights and features of the Shannon River and its towns most interesting. Good and relatively easy coarse fishing on the Shannon, more challenging on the lakes. We enjoyed the splendid variety of the Waterfront restaurant at Cootehall and the different kind of charm of the local pub! Wonderful holiday with many thanks to Irene for her kindness and hospitality.

Excellent property.
The owners are amazing...very friendly, interesting, caring and totally professional. They make one feel very welcome. The cottage is located in very peaceful surroundings with delightful fields of frolicking lambs adjacent. Hearing the cuckoo was an added bonus! The cottage is so well laid out for a wheelchair user...without seeming in any way clinical. The owners' good taste in respecting vernacular architecture and in fitting out the cottage so tastefully is to be admired. It was hard to leave such comfort and welcome! And Bella the golden retriever visited us for a few treats!!
