What our customers say about their holidays

    • Karri - Verified booking

Brilliant holiday home, ideal for multiple families and great set up for both kids and adults.

There are 10 adults and 7 children in our group and we have been holidaying together in Scotland for 5 years and this was the best house we have stayed in. John was great and very attentive if needed. The heating and water systems are great which lend to a ideal drying room for clothes. The gardens are gorgeous and the kids play area a real plus. The bedrooms mostly had ensuites which was great and those that did not had bathrooms very close. The kitchens were well kitted out with everything we needed and the dining room was lovely. The log cabin was lovely and was a great addition to the holiday. The house has a lot of history which made for some really interesting reading. The fixtures and fittings were all high quality, comfy sofas and beds and well decorated. Things for improvement were that the house was clean but could have been cleaner, it was obvious there had been dogs in the house previous to us and with a few people with allergies - that wasn't ideal. Also the feather bedding was an issue for us as again there were a few people with allergies but we understand many guests will think feather duvets are a plus point. There was dirty underwear under one of the beds in the MacGillvray room (not ours as only two 7 year old boys staying in that room) and lots of wrappers/papers behind the bed in the MacDonald room. The internet wasn't great and we often could not get connected - could use some wifi extenders or a boost to allow more people to join the network at once (we all live rurally so are used to these issues). We also felt the list of duties for tenants to do at the end of the holiday was quite extensive - the most we have been asked to do in the 5 years of renting big houses for holiday. On the whole - an amazing place to stay to explore the local area. Thanks! * Happy for the top part of the review to be published with the second part omitted as it was more to let the owners know of some improvements which could be made.

      This cottage was absolutely fabulous.

Everything as described and more. There is also a washer dryer which was not stated on the website so this was a bonus as I travelled very light with just a cabin bag. Extra items in the cupboards-some clothes washing liquid, washing up liquid, salt.oil-little extras that possibly others left behind. We did the same-it always help the next person staying. Towels and tea towels provided and also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. hoover and mop etc too so no excuse not to clean up. The cooker took a bit of figuring out so we phoned the owner who is extremely helpful. I'm used to gas rather than electric so it took too much figuring out. Bottle of wine and some milk on our arrival along with a bunch of flowers. Tea and coffee had been left so we could have a much needed cuppa. Back garden very secluded and has washing line. Big pile of leaflets and maps in the lounge. We used Jacobite tours for Loch Ness and Happy Tours for a day to Glencoe There is a Wetherspoons in town and a few places with nightly music. I would definitely recommend this accomodation. It was a 15 minute walk into town for an average walker and 20 mins for me as I am a slow plodder. Lidl just up the road-5 mins walk-Aldi on the way to town-10 mins walk Property is easy to find on walking back from town-we walked everywhere. A bit noisy in the front bedroom on a Friday night but that is to be expected in the city. Nothing too bad. Do follow the River Ness on the side of the castle up to the "islands"-it is absolutely beautiful up there. (The sports centre and ice rink in same direction) Bus station in centre of town-costs £4.50 to get from airport to town. We booked a taxi for our return though-£25-just in case that helps anyone.

      Had a wonderful vacation.

This home is absolutely beautiful. Perfect for a large family or several families to share. The area and views from the home are just breathtaking. In the countryside yet only 15 minutes to the city of Inverness. Great base for a vacation. This home is so clean and well stocked. I believe the home is only three years old. Loved the design of the house!! Superior rental property. More than worth the price. Jane the housekeeper is so nice and went out of her way to make sure we had everything needed. Truly did not expect this caliber of a rental home. The bedrooms are set up with 3 upstairs on one side of the home, and 6 on the other. 3 upstairs, 3 downstairs. Perfect set-up if families wanted to share the house. Offered lots of privacy within a wing. Kitchen is a cooks dream. I was worried that the house would be too far out but we were only 15 minutes from the airport and the city of Inverness which was beautiful. We did a lot of day trips from the house. Biggest downside of this home is that once your there you just want to spend time at the house. We had 3 wonderful dinners at the house, 1 being an outdoor barbecue. Highly recommend this home.(ps. we were worried about midges which we were told were up in Inverness in the summer. None at the house. We sat outside till late in the evening enjoying the views. Kids loved the snooker, table tennis, games, tennis court etc. Truly a Scottish Gem.

      Tolle, gut ausgestattete Wohnung, zentrumsnah!

Great, well-equipped apartment, close to the city center! The apartment is bright, well equipped and contemporary and offers enough space for a family of four. In the immediate vicinity are various shops (Coop, Lidl, Aldi, B & M), the CIty Center can be reached on foot in just under 15 minutes. In the bedroom with the double bed but should be taken to ensure that only a large (in the UK typical) blanket is available - for Germans rather getting to used! Small drawback: the shower or the fitting of the shower squeaks very loud (it literally shouts), so that everyone in the house notices, if someone takes a shower - could possibly be fixed by the landlord! All in all, the apartment is highly recommended.

A week in Inverness with Witchelm House as our base.

A light and airy house, almost everything you could need. Clean and bright. Comfortable beds. We used the house as a base to travel out from, so didn't spend much time in it, eating out for the most part. Close to the pretty river walks and a pleasant 5 to 15 minute walk to the city centre where most restaurants are situated. A word of warning: if you want to eat out, book your restaurants well ahead of your arrival. All decent restaurants get booked up well ahead. We'd booked well ahead all but 2 nights and we had problems finding somewhere suitable to eat on the 2 unbooked nights. The house is in a built up area close to main roads, but we had almost no noise problems. Parking immediately outside is time limited but a few yards down the road 24hr parking is very easy. 2 large white vans parked illegally outside the house for most of the week, so I don't think parking wardens appear very often! The blinds in the bedrooms were our only issue. I can't sleep unless it's dark. I always bring an eye mask when we go away, just in case, and I was glad I did. If you don't mind a very light bedroom through the night you've no problem. Personally, I'd prefer blackout blinds, but that's just a personal observation. I would recommend this property unreservedly. Thank you!
