What our customers say about their holidays

    • Peter - Verified booking

Lovely bungalow on a residential street.

Wonderfully comfortable beds and bedding, great kitchen and fabulous sofa. Really liked the open plan living and dining area. We had a few interactions with the local duck and her ducklings, she got stuck between the bungalow and the fence so my Dad had to move some old fence panels that were in the gap and were stopping her escaping. Unfortunately a couple of negative comments. I wouldn't usually say anything but as a family we felt it significant. The bathroom really needs some attention, thick dust on the back of the doors & skirting boards and limescale on both sets of taps. The storage for clothes is frustrating, why is there a wardrobe in the single room but no clothes rail inside? The twin room only has under bed drawers. The double room is huge, with fabulous storage but we were 2 households so I didn't want to use that wardrobe in someone else's room. The garden really needs tidying, the grass hadn't been cut for a while and that made it hard to do a pick up after the dog. There were alot of weeds and it just made using the garden less welcoming. For someone with mobility issues, navigating these was just a little awkward. The next door bungalow, which initially we thought was being refurbished, really is a sight for sore eyes and let down the whole relaxed feel you want from a holiday let. When the temperature gets higher I would imagine the unpleasant odour will get worse. It does look like some of the decorating hasn't been completed, for instance there are nails in walls but no pictures. Be aware, if taking a dog, that access to the garden is through the double bedroom. We had a pleasant week but I'm afraid we wouldn't go back.

We all had the most amazing time, from the min we opened the door & saw how clean & spacious it was then to see the huge bed which looks brand new, was brilliant.

Absolutely everything you could want it provided. ( I always take fairy lights to light up garden to see where dogs ‘go’ but these weren’t needed as there’s 2 lots of outside lights )We stay in cottages a lot with our dogs & this is one of the best. The weather was wonderful too ( again we always pack for the worst weather but big coats weren’t needed ) The beaches are walkable however a cut through across the road then through the cemetery leads to a decent size Tesco with friendly staff & a bus stop so you can get one to Old Hunstanton which is fab with Le Strange arms hotel / bar that do a brill 2 courses for £15 , have to sit outside with dogs is only downside but again staff were brill & made sure our plates were really hot. You can then walk through to the most stunning beach & it goes on for miles & miles. I saw a few negative comments re the grass not being cut, I’d say , have a look in the little shed & do it if it bothers you that much, (we stay in cottages because it’s like being at home as opposed to a hotel , & things always need doing in a home ) Also we never saw any rats & our 2 dogs would have searched them out ! I wish I could post photos as we were lucky enough to see the northern lights & of course the wonderful red cliffs . A final mention to Lou who was brill, a welcome message to say it was ready early was great & she was available for any help . Literally can’t wait to come to come back ( love Hunstanton if you couldn’t tell ! )

We had no WiFi all week, in spite of being mentioned in the comments book.

On arrival, the bulbs in the ceiling lights in the Living Room had all blown and there were no spares in the cupboard. We were informed on arrival that the toilet seat was broken and would be replaced later that day, but didn’t actually happen until a few days later. On arrival there were several weeds in the courtyard which straightaway gives a wrong impression. On entering the cottage, it was clear to see that it was exceptionally tired and in need of refurbishment. The pictures of the cottage interior on the website bear no resemblance to the actual cottage. This has clearly changed since the photos were uploaded to the website and should be updated to reflect present day. It is such a shame, this cottage could be a wonderful place, if only it was repaired and refurbished as required. The cottage is in a wonderful location, which makes it even more of a shame that we will not be booking again. This review gives us no pleasure but feel that it is only correct that future guests are aware of what it is now and not according to the photos in the website, which was the strength on which we booked it. We consider this review to be fair and reasonable.

This property is in need of complete revamp, it's general state is that of complete neglect.

I read many of the reviews by other guests and we must have stayed in a different place, or our expectations and standards are much higher than that given by this property. The sofas are tired and need replacing, why have winceyette sheets on the bed in summertime?, bathroom plug broken, don't push it down too hard or it will get stuck. Mold in the main bedroom wardrobe, no extractor in the kitchen, no grill pan, tired non stick frypans. Worst of all was the back garden which we could not use, the grass had not been cut for weeks and the overflowing compost bin attracted RATS, yes RATS were seen in the back garden so we band our dog and ourselves from going outside just as well as we would have needed a machete to get the the green mold covered table and chairs. Sykes should delist this property until improvements are made.

We booked this bungalow to have a break away during the Easter Holidays.

The bungalow was very clean, fully equipped and well presented and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the outside space due to the wet weather. It would have been helpful to have had the instructions readily available for the oven and dishwasher at the beginning of our stay. We found these on our last day in the side board draw in the lounge! We felt the single bed mattresses could do with replacing they were very springy, squeaky and not that comfortable. To aid with recycling, another bin in kitchen would have been useful to separate general waste from recyclable waste. Apart from these, we enjoyed our stay, the property was well located for visiting attractions in the local area and we would stay again and recommend this property to others.
