    Sawrey Holiday Cottages

Sawrey is made up of two charming villages in the Lake District, known as Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey. It is just a stone's throw away from stunning Lake Windemere: the largest natural lake in all of England. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy a day's sailing or canoeing, and it also makes the perfect spot for a picnic or lakeside stroll.

Sawrey was once praised by the beloved children's author Beatrix Potter as one of the most perfect places she had ever lived in. Indeed, no visit to Sawrey would be complete without a tour of Hill Top, the author's former home.

At Snaptrip, we provide our customers with thousands of properties, backed by our best price guarantee, making booking your dream holiday cottage in Sawrey easy. With Snaptrip's filter option, you can search everything from room capacity and parking facilities to games rooms, hot tubs and wood-burning fires. Plenty of holiday cottages are suitable for families and some will welcome your four-legged friend. If you need any further help - perhaps a request for a travel cot or accessibility queries - simply email our friendly customer service team.

What our customers say about their holidays

We enjoyed our time at Wykefield.

We think it's important to highlight that some pictures of the outside of the property on the website are misleading. You see the whole house structure, but half of the building is the "Esk Wyke Country House Hotel". The windows facing out the downstairs 'nook', the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom all overlook the hotel car park. People are coming and going from there at all hours. You should be aware of that prior to booking. The main attraction of the house is the extension with the elongated dining room and kitchen which is lovely. The extra fridge-freezer in the garage is not mentioned in the description and would have been really useful to have known about when planning food to take. The tennis table in the garage is not very nice and bendy, so wasn't useable. The beds were comfortable. Despite the water being non-mains supplied, the pressure was great and reliable. The appliances all worked well and we liked the utilities. There's lots of board games, DVDs, maps, interesting books and a well-equipped kitchen. As pleasant, well equipped and thought out as the house is, we feel it's expensive for what you get. There's no proper games room or other facilities that for £2,500/week you should be getting at this range. This is a nice house, and a really great stay, but not at this cost. Especially with the hotel at peak season next door, with their suite windows overlooking the garden you're relaxing in. It's a well-placed location with several walks, towns and facilities nearby. It's of note that Beatrix Potter stayed in this house (prior to it being half hotel) and decided she wanted to live in the Lakes because of it! Esthwaite Water, which the garden overlooks, is privately owned and inaccessible so it's for view only. Overall, this is a good stay but pricey for what you get.

We had a wonderful stay at your gorgeous property and we definitely book again next year.

It was really perfect for our family and we just loved the location. You have done it up so beautifully - what a lovely home. We did have a couple of points to mention: Washing Machine: I went to use the machine and opened the door and it really smelt of damp. I opened the soap drawer and it was black with mould and really smelt. I also checked round the rubber rim and it was all mouldy. I cleaned it all out and got it sorted so that I could use it. I think it needs a deeper clean though as our clothes came out smelly of damp. Linen: The linen on the Master Bed smelt of damp - maybe they have been washed in the machine? We had to remove the pillow cases and sleep on towels. Master Bed Shower: We used this once and immediately noticed water dripping through the wooden beam by the dining table. We stopped the shower straight away and mopped up the water downstairs. We tried ringing Sykes to report this issues but we held on for 38mins, requested a call back and never got anywhere with them. We didn't use the shower again - but this needs sorting ASAP. None of the above prevented us from having a wonderful stay and as I say - we will be back! Thank you so much

We have recently returned from a wonderful 8 night holiday based in High Cunsey Farm.

High Cunsey Farm is a gem of a place to stay! This sympathetically restored, beautifully decorated and well equipped Lakeland farmhouse has well maintained grounds that stretch to the shore of Windermere. Recently commented upon problems with the shower in the main bedroom en-suite have been resolved. The digitally-controlled electric Aga has good instructions for use in the house hand-book. The 2 low wooden beams across the main bedroom and the adjacent landing of this traditional style Lakeland farmhouse are approximately 173cm (5ft 8in) above the floor. For the taller members of our family who weren't used to low beams a thin, soft, bright piece of cloth (we used ties) hung over each beam was a good reminder to duck. The house agents, Sykes Cottages/Lakelovers did take ages to answer the phone, having replied neither to some messages left on their website nor emails. However when we did eventually get through to the agents a couple of days before the start of our stay, the agents were efficient, effective and able to action and resolve all of our queries, for which many thanks!

We really loved our stay here and appreciate in particular all of the luxury, homely touches.

The location was so good that it was practically shown in the World of Beatrix Potter museum (well the view was). Everything felt thought of, and made our stay just perfect. We have stayed in a lot of Airbnbs and Sykes Cottages but this was our favourite so far and would love to return. Unfortunately we parked in the neighbour's space (it seemed empty and unkept so assumed it was available) next to our garden, if you could maybe be a bit more explicit on where we can park that would be great - as he seemed fine with us pulling up alongside the garage in the courtyard instead. There is space for 2 cars by the front door but a bit trickier for a 3rd. We can't unfortunately return during the summer months as the garden is not suitable for children (the sheer drops are even more severe than I realised at booking). There's a park on your doorstep to take the kids out for a run around! Thanks again and hope to book again!

An Excellent property to thank whole family on my Retirement so wanted something 'special' which this lived up to fully, with very little found wanting.

All facilities used to the full including hot tub modern kitchen (as we ate in most days) but also did eat at Cuckoo Brow Inn a short walk away on a couple of nights, which we would also recommend. Host did provide a 'Meet and greet' on our Arrival, which was most welcome and overall would highly recommend (especially for a special occasion) Great views towards Windermere to front and Coniston Falls to rear giving instant 'weather update' We did benefit from great weather most of the week we were there, but accommodation would suit any weather. Property very pieceful whcih was ideal (Windermere area OK but the quiet was just what we were after) and little traffic even though close to Ferry road Close to Hill Top and other attractions with many 'Walk' options also nearby
