"The barn is in a lovely quiet countryside position. Only minutes away from Hastings Beware though as not stated in the description there are the owners Geese/Chickens and Rabbits running free outside the fence to the barn. If we had known beforehand we would not of booked as we have a Jack Russell so had to keep an eye on him. The barn is well furnished, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is big and well equipped. Good to have the downstairs bedroom for parents who struggle with stairs but the shower is very small. Our mattress was a bit springy and pinged when you turn over. Would of been nice to have tea making facilities handy on arrival after a long journey. We had food delivered as many takeaways in Hastings of different kinds who deliver. Good walks close by for the dogs. In all we had a very good weeks stay. Weather was good to us too."

"We stayed at waterside house in September 2015 for 7 nights. We used this amazing property for a family reunion and everyone had a great time. From the minute we drove down the long driveway and saw this very private and huge house on the banks of the reservoir we knew the property was special. All the rooms are huge with ensuites, so everyone had the chance to relax and the many entertaining areas also meant plenty of space for all the family members and kids. The table tennis and croquet sets were a hit with the kids and adults alike! The area is fantastic with lots of activities including quad bike riding, boating, go ape & fishing right out the front door. There are also lots of great pubs with great food in the area, our favourite was the Bull which is a very old pub less than 10 minutes away. We will definitely be back!"

"Overall very pleased with the accomodation and location. It was very well equipped and clean although the mattresses on the beds are a little tired. The snooker table is a welcome asset although it is most definitely not a full size table as stated in the description! Also, please be aware that although it states in the description that the property is dog friendly and the garden is enclosed, the fence is very low and the owners have 6 geese and about a dozen chickens running free just outside the fenced area, not to mention the hoards of wild rabbits! None of this was mentioned in the brochure description but had it been I would not have chosen this property as my dog is a German Pointer and they do not mix well with farmyard animals! A more honest description would be better for everyone! A nice break though."

"Scrag Oak Oast is a fabulous property in a stunning location and picturesque area and we were lucky enough to have the fabulous May Bank Holiday sunshine. However, please be warned the comings and goings of a young family with 4 boys and 2 dogs intruded on our privacy and tranquillity. The front door of the property opens directly onto a gravel drive. When cars come up the drive the noise is incredible. (In good weather the door needs to be open to get some air flow)Neither the paddock or the garden are secure. Coupled with the fact that the single track lane, directly in front of the property, was surprisingly busy meant that dogs had to be very closely supervised at all times. We hope this review is helpful to those for whom the points we have made would have been a problem."

"We went to Waterside House for a reunion weekend which is something we do every year but this was definitely our favourite of the places we have stayed in. It has an unbeatable location on Bewl water, is secluded but not cut off, there are wonderful walks around the lake and even a pub you can walk to. The house itself has everything you could wish for, the bedrooms are large and beautifully decorated and there is plenty of space throughout to relax, get together and have fun (the hot tub was very popular, even in October). The owner was very welcoming and helpful and gave us lots of useful information about walks, local facilities and also provided us with details for a caterer. We will definitely come back and look forward to our next visit."
