"The best cottage we have ever stayed in. Alison was the perfect host who made you feel welcome and at home. The cottage is very spacious, 3 good sized bedrooms, fantastic fully fitted kitchen with plenty of crockery and utensils, there was even tea, coffee, milk, a bowl of fruit, 2 bottles of wine, orange juice and other essentials provided by Alison . Large wetroom with many toiletries provided. Beautiful lounge with extremely large sofas. Very tastefully decorated. Excellent quiet location. Cottage was spotlessly clean. we feel that there is nothing that Alison can do to better this cottage she should be proud of her 5 star cottage. Special thanks to Alison for Davids birthday card and cake, and for the apples from the trees We will not hesitate to return or recommend anybody to book this cottage. "

"Rands Retreat is in an excellent location for exploring the area. It is central for exploring Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Ely. The cottage facilities in some respects are excellent but we would suggest a number of small improvements, which we normally find at other holiday cottages.A block of sharp knives, a bread bin, a upright drainer for washing plates and rubbish bins in each room. Not everyone uses a shower, preferring a bath, in this case it would be useful to have a shower connected to the bath taps for washing your hair. This does not detract from an excellent holiday cottage with attentive hosts living next door. I would recommend improving the quality of the towels which saw fluffiness some time ago."

"The cottage has huge potential but needs a lot of refurbishment to get it up to standard. Beds were clean but uncomfortable. There were only 6 usable dining chairs as 3 were dangerously broken. The lead to the dvd player was missing . There was mould and peeling paint in the bathrooms. The upstairs windows were dirty and ill fitting. The carpet was soiled. The cottage backs onto the farmyard of a beef farm with an open cattle shed directly behind the property so inevitably there were flies. There were holes in the plaster and unrepaired cracks. The location is great for Duxford, Wimpole Hall and Cambridge . There was plenty of kitchen equipment and constant hot water."

"We had a wonderful time at The Stables. The property is situated in an idyllic location which is only a few miles from the nearest town, but, at the same time, is remote enough to give you that sense of ruralness. The property was immaculately clean and there were plenty of 'extras' that one would not normally find in a holiday cottage - both in terms of things to do (the children loved the exercise bike!), and in terms of the consumables like having plenty of tea bags and toilet paper. And our hosts were friendly but respectful of our privacy.Best thing about the cottage - the sunsets. They were amazing!"

"The stables was an ideal base and reasonably clean and comfortable. The shower in the wet room had very poor drainage and this made it difficult if more than one person had a shower. In addition we were not told that the owner ran a business next door. The sound travelled between the connecting door which made us feel uncomfortable when she had a client as we felt that we should not speak. While we were there the owners had a joiner fit some sound proofing but did not warn us of the event which was very noisy for one afternoon. We are not convinced that the sound proofing will make too much difference."
