About this property

Eastfield Farm is a charming house situated on a working farm near the River Tees in Mickleton, Durham. With off-road parking for three cars, a toasty woodburning stove, hot tub and proximity to the North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales, this rural retreat is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a countryside escape. Surrounded by sweeping fields and framed by a handsome stone-brick exterior, Eastfield Farm welcomes guests with a sense of peace and timelessness. Its neat lawn and enclosed garden offer a first glimpse of the calm that awaits within, making it an ideal base for those looking to reconnect with nature and each other. Step into the handmade kitchen, where rustic textures meet thoughtful design—exposed brickwork, wooden beams, and wooden flooring set the tone. A Belfast sink sits opposite a sleek black range cooker, while stylish pendant lights hang above the breakfast bar, inviting slow mornings and shared conversations.

Step into the handmade kitchen, where rustic textures meet thoughtful design—exposed brickwork, wooden beams, and wooden flooring set the tone. A Belfast sink sits opposite a sleek black range cooker, while stylish pendant lights hang above the breakfast bar, inviting slow mornings and shared conversations. After dinner, retreat to the sitting room where a plush grey sofa beckons beside a woodburning stove, and framed pictures glow gently on the walls, setting the mood for relaxed evenings with a mounted TV close at hand. A glass-covered entrance to the cellar glows softly at night, adding a touch of intrigue to the space. Upstairs, the oak handrails reach the carpeted landing, which overlooks the dining room and leads to two thoughtfully arranged bedrooms. The double room features a charming fireplace and a small walk-in wardrobe, while the twin room offers a peaceful space to unwind after days spent exploring the surrounding countryside. The shower room is a refreshing space, with glossy tiles and exposed beams adding texture and warmth. A separate cloakroom on the first floor, adorned with vibrant pink wallpaper, provides added convenience and a splash of personality. Outside, the garden invites quiet moments and slow afternoons. Sink into the hot tub as dusk settles over the fields, or wander across the lawn and admire the charming old well, and take in the fresh country air, with the surrounding landscape stretching out in every direction. Beyond the farm’s peaceful boundaries, the landscape opens up to a world of discovery. Pack your walking boots and follow winding trails through the North Pennines, where heather-clad hills and hidden waterfalls reward every step. Uncover the industrial past at Locomotion, where steam engines hiss and clatter through time, or lose yourself in the grandeur of The Bowes Museum, its French-inspired façade sheltering treasures from across the centuries. For those drawn to ancient stories, Brough Castle stands proud above the Eden Valley, its weathered stone walls whispering tales of medieval life and borderland battles. Wherever your compass points, Eastfield Farm offers a place to return to—a warm, grounding retreat where the fire crackles, the stars shine, and the countryside waits just beyond the door.

The small hamlet of Mickleton is situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale, close to the villages of Romaldkirk and Middleton in Teesdale and within a few miles of the market town of Barnard Castle. Mickleton itself consists of a cluster of stone houses along a single street and offers one pub along with a petrol station/garage. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep with The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, The River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force all close by. There are also excellent cycling facilities in The Dale and Hamsterley Forest.
