The property is private and tranquil, with thoughtful details throughout, and the owners are helpful yet unobtrusive. While the location is remote with no shops or pubs within walking distance, most guests find this adds to the charm. Occasional minor suggestions include a firmer mattress or additional amenities, but overall experiences are overwhelmingly positive.

Cleanliness is repeatedly highlighted as exceptional, with numerous guests describing the cottage as spotlessly clean, immaculate, and maintained to a very high standard. No negative comments were found regarding cleanliness.

The cottage's peaceful, secluded setting is widely appreciated, offering tranquillity and privacy. While some mention the lack of nearby shops or pubs as a minor drawback, most guests enjoy the rural location and proximity to scenic walks and attractions.

Just back from a 4 night break at Little Glencrest. Immaculately kept and lovely welcome pack on arrival with doggy treats. Ideal garden for any one with dogs of the Steve McQueen variety, there was no escape for our two terriers :) garden is completely secure for the dogs. The garden also provides full privacy. The local area of the Durham Downs and Teesdales is often overlooked in favour of the Lakes but is a gem worth exploring. Check out Country Canines abut 15 mins away at Eggleston, secure park with lots of fun for the dogs. The cottage is central for Hamsterley Forest for dog walks, cycling, there is a co-op in Cockfield 5 minutes away. Barnard Castle and Raby Castle worth a visit. Owners Catherine and Jeff are on hand for any issues, the house is toasty with the log burner and there is also underfloor heating. There is a large log fired size hot tub, instructions are provided but if you are not 100% about it just ask the owners as they are most helpful. Highly recommend, we will be back :)

We had a lovely few days in Little Glencrest. It was clean and tidy with everything required for 4 nights stay. The hot tub was an added bonus, although as in previous reviews it does take a while to heat up from cold. We experienced all seasons in one week but it was lovely and cosy. The welcome pack for us and our little dog was a lovely touch. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at Little Glencrest. The handwritten note and welcome tray for us and our dogs was very much appreciated. Not really any local amenities but we were aware of this time of booking so went well prepared. There is a Lidl & Home Bargains less than 15 mins drive away. Lots of info in the cottage for places to visit & eat. The hot tub was lovely once heated up. It took a very long time but once hot it stayed that way for the duration of our stay, only needing a short amount of time to heat up again. Lovely comfy bed and very clean, well equipped cottage. We prefer a bath sheet, if you’re the same then I’d suggest taking your own towels. And I’d have preferred a larger comfier sofa but that’s just a tiny thing as we thought the cottage was lovely. Thankyou.
