A stunning cottage and as secluded as it gets.
True peace and quiet. The stars have never looked as bright as they do at Corrafeckloch Cottage. The cottage is beautiful. Everything has been thought of. The restoration of the cottage could not possibly be improved. What an amazing job the owners have done. The snug between the upstairs bedrooms especially a highlight for me. A place to read a book, sip a cuppa, and look out into true wilderness. Bliss. We had visits from many chaffinches, woodpeckers, red squirrels and pine martens! My family saw many of these animals for the first time, from the comfort of the cottage. The other thing I'd like to call out? The cottage is pristinely clean. Clearly, a lot of attention to detail and love has been paid to this cottage, and it has truly paid off. We didn't want to leave! Really nice things to do nearby are to visit the Crafty Distillery, which is a great if you're into your gins. We really enjoyed that. Also, Heads of Ayr Farm Park is a brilliant day out.

This was our second time to Corrafeckloch, last year we went for our honeymoon and loved it so much we booked to return for our 1st year anniversary and we weren't disappointed with even more pine martens visiting!
We were worried about the building work as we knew it should have been completed but it really didn't affect us. The builders are lovely and appreciate a cuppa! There was no radio blaring or shouting. When sat inside without the TV or radio on you couldn't see or hear the work going on, so it doesn't affect the stunning views. The only time you might hear it would be if you were sunbathing in the Scottish sunshine on the front lawn! There are lots of places you can go and sit around the property grounds so easy to get peace and quiet if you want to sit outside. We shall be back for a third time as we love it! The wildlife is amazing and lots of walks and cycling from the door. The cottage is very spacious, we took my mum, step dad and aunt along too this time and I think they will be coming back with us as they loved it as much as we do! Corrafeckloch is a very special place.

As at 23rd August 2024, this property is a working building site.
The external photos of the house that were listed up to this date are not an accurate representation. There is an extension being built on the barn that approximately doubles its footprint and extends significantly in front of the house. There are builders on site Monday to Friday, using power tools, and there are materials and amenities associated with a building site (skip, portaloo, etc.). There were two deliveries of building supplies during our week long stay. Otherwise, the house itself is as shown and is comfortable and well appointed. The grounds are extensive and offer pleasant trails for wandering. There is an abundance of wildlife when it is quiet outside. If the listing photos do not show the new building alongside and in front of the original house, you can look at our Google review for pictures.

We had a wonderful post Christmas break at Ptarmigan Cottage.
The village of Garlieston is exceptionally beautiful, with lovely coastal paths and a cosy pub within five minutes walk of the cottage. The property has great views of the sea from both sides. We also got out to Whithorn and the Isle of Whithorn which are both worth a visit - and to Scotland's booktown Wigtown, full of second hand book shops and an excellent antique shop. Inside the cottage is immaculately fitted out, warm and stylish. There was a welcome bottle of wine awaiting us, as well as chocolates and all the store cupboard condiments you might need. Phil our host was super friendly, flexible about arrival and departure times, and instantly posted on a pair of shoes I had left behind. We can't wait to come again.

Lovely cottage in absolute stunning scenery.
The drive through Galloway forest was also spectacular. Cottage was very clean, comfortable & warm. Would suggest that guests bring a lot of bird seed or buy lots whilst there. They ate a bag a day. We arenât familiar with birds but there were some stunning ones to look at. Expect a daily red squirrel visitor. Christine, one of the owners, is lovely & happy to help with any queries. The only negative is that WiFi isnât very good but we were pre-warned about this so canât complain. Would highly recommend this cottage to those in need of peace, relaxation & requiring stunning views. Great place to go to escape people & covid.
