What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kerry - Verified booking

Blown away by how quaint this cottage was on the outside and in.

Fresh roses, chocs, cheese and crackers, with beer and bubbles upon arrival- what a lovely gesture, thank you! The birdies were a pleasant time stealer while having breakfast. Log fire and unlimited logs with kindle was wonderful and so well organised - again thank you. The cottage was so warm. Books, games and literature was beneficial and the TV was brilliant. The deep bath and mood lighting was very romantic and great for sole relaxation with the beautiful views of the the trees through the windows. The huge bed was amazing and so comfortable. We have slept really well. The stairs are grand and manageable. Down stairs toilet was very handy. Kitchen was well equipped - better than our own. This cottage was clean, modern, comfortable, spectacular and very private. Landlords at the end of the phone should one need assistance - thanks. Local walks are a must- the views are spectacularly picturesque, that will remain in our heart and minds forever. Can't wait to revisit. Thanks Kerry and Ben Date of experience: 29 December 2022 -5th January 2023.

Despite the photograph of the cottage it was not a secluded cottage in a private garden but attached to a bigger house belonging to the owners.

The rooms were both extremely dark with very little day light getting into the building, we had to have the lights on all the time and it still was difficult to read. The sofa and chair were very uncomfortable and the only eating space was the breakfast bar which is not suitable for a relaxing evening meal. The stairs are extremely steep and require a second hand rail on the right hand side to provide a safer journey up and down. There was no wardrobe in which to hang clothes; only a few pegs at the top of the stairs outside the bedroom door. No doubt the owners thought the cottage quirky but it could have been so much nicer if it had been designed by someone with experienced. Considering the size and inadequate furnishings, the dingy interior and the odd collection of aging vehicles parked in the grounds I consider this property to be very over priced and definitely not worth the money you charged for it. Yours somewhat disappointed Norma C M Adam

Along a tree lined lane, beautiful as the sun shone through, at the edge of Newton Stewart through a pair of gates lay this wonderful cottage.

On entering we found a very nice welcome pack, comforting after our five hour car journey. We settled in before heading to the Crown Hotel for dinner. A wonderful night’s sleep in a most comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, something we haven’t always had at other stays. Nice easy to use walk in shower set us up every morning for the day ahead. The well appointed kitchen are had everything we needed. The location was great for visiting the area and we had some great days out. Favourite trip was to the Mull of Galloway and Logan Gardens. We did take a long day out to visit the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. Well worth the miles. Overall a fabulous week helped by the excellent weather.

The location could not be bettered. However, the cottage, although well-equipped, had a musty smell which never quite left. The downstairs bed was so uncomfortable that I had to move into a twin room upstairs. The general decoration needs renewing as there were many water marks on the ceilings and walls. It seemed a little run down since we visited 9 years ago. Our main issue was the wifi, or lack of it, which also affected the television. The very poor signal, (often no signal at all) should be mentioned in the cottage description. On the plus side, the wood burner was the best we've come across in over 40 years of self-catering in Scotland.

We had a wonderful week staying at the Coach House.

It is the most relaxing, beautiful place to stay. It’s warm, spotless and has everything you need for a lovely holiday. Plenty of walks on the doorstep as well as all the shops you need for a self catering break. The bed was so comfortable, we slept in late most days & the bathroom is a joy with a huge tub and great walk in shower, my personal favourite spot was the window seat in the bedroom for peaceful reading. Lovely welcome gifts were left including fresh flowers which was a lovely welcoming touch. We are already planning a return visit for next year!
