We loved this cottage.
I was coming from Oxfordshire and my friend from Inverness! Not seen each other since before covid so was looking forward to a few days together catching up. We travelled to the property in Moffat the day storm Arwen hit the uk! Arrived at the house on the Saturday afternoon and it was just perfect, a little way out of the village of Moffat but close enough to walk in. (We took a walk on the Sunday into Moffat) It was clean and tidy on arrival lots of logs for the fire in the log store and the home was warm. Just what we needed after a long drive in stormy weather. My friend and I settled in as did the dogs, they loved the log fires once weâd got them going. A little gift of wine and biscuits left on the kitchen table for us was a Lovely touch. The home was clean and lots of space. No upstairs bathroom but not a problem. Garden was enclosed although our little pooches could get under the gate, so always had to go out with them in case they escaped! Sadly due to Storm Arwen we woke up to no power on the Sunday! The property is all electric with the 2 log fires, so had no heating and about 3-4 inches of snow outside!! We got the fires going to warm the property, put a pan on top to boil some water to make a cup of tea. Phoned the pub (using mobiles which thankfully had signal) when open to make sure they had power and went to the pub for Sunday lunch. (The Black Bull in Moffat was great, friendly staff, log fires to warm ourselves by and dog friendly) was a leisurely 45 min walk to town from the property through the snow. By the time we got back home thankfully the power was back on. This was by no means the properties fault at all and we dealt with it as best we could. My friend and I had lots of giggles throughout the day. Thereâs lots of cafes and places to eat in Moffat. We went on a lovely woodland walk which we got to from town. Edinburgh 1 1/2 hours drive away, We took a trip to the Christmas markets. The house has everything you would need, large garden, comfy beds, great bathroom although took a while to fill the bath! Plus a well equipped kitchen. I would definitely recommend this lovely little cottage. Reminded me of the cottage in the movie The Holiday. Especially when we were lucky enough to wake up to snow on our first morning. Would love to visit again.

We all had a great holiday in a lovely clean, bright + roomy bungalow in a very peaceful setting. Very well appointed. Being such a bright house, would perhaps recommend an eye mask, (if very early morning light bothers you) as the window blinds in the bedrooms aren't enough to fully darken the room on sunny mornings. Having had lovely weather, the spacious decking at the front made for a very comfortable + relaxing space, with beautiful views. We took advantage of the inclusive golfing offer at the nearby Colvend Golf Club. A very well maintained course, with pleasant challenges + amazing views. As mentioned in previous reviews, the entrance gate is a little narrow. We had a Hyundai Tuscon + had about 2-3 inches clear either side. Rockcliffe is a lovely little village, with scenic walks, including one to the nearby village of Kippford, where there are a couple of eateries and coffee shop. Would definitely recommend Firpoint as a holiday rental, we will certainly be back.

Third visit to this house and reserved again for the same November period next year. The house is nicely located in a quiet area but with sea views. It has all the necessary facilities and has a good heating system which is good for the winter period. Beds are comfy with decent linen and new towels throughout. The house is not “posh” but comfortable , spacious and homely. There 2 of of plus a small dog but with space for few more guests. This part of Scotland is gorgeous but seemingly largely overlooked by tourists, ( we have been in the summer and it was not overly busy then) in in truth a lot of the touristy things are closed in winter but we don’t mind it that way. Cleve House and Gardens (National Trust) is a must as is another NT property Broughton House in Kirkcudbright which is quirky but interesting There are splendid walks from the house but you do to use a car as supermarkets and shops are within a reasonable driving commute

This is a really nice property in a magnificent location. Sufficiently so that we have already booked for the winter The house was very clean with good beds, bed linen and towels. The decor and furnishings were also clean and functional. The bunks in the smaller bedroom we’re unused and would I suggest might have been a challenge for my “more mature “ self but kids would love them. The house is on one level and spacious.. Every thing we need was provided The driveway was adequate for one car but there appeared to be masses of street parking outside. The rear garden is secure , mature and pet friendly, there are though steps to reach it. We had a minor issue with a missing garage key on arrival but I spoke to the owner Mr Hitchens who was extremely apologetic and we coped without access for the week. Strongly recommend this property in a wonderful and maybe overlooked part of Scotland

Fantastic comfy dog friendly cottage.
Situated just out of Moffatt town centre which gives you a real rural feel break without being too far away from shops & amentities. The cottage is extremely well equipped, a real home from home and within an hour we felt comfy & settled. Nice to have a TV free froom too ( we made this our reading/quiet room) - don't worry there's a fab TV in the other lounge and both have woodburners for those cosy nights! The garden is a fantastic space for all the family with sheep, rabbits and plenty of birds to watch during the day. Easy access to lovely local walks and close to the road network if you want to explore further afield. ...........Lovely thoughtful owners who have thought of everything to make your stay so welconming & comfortable. The property was very clean, beds & bedding fresh & comfy and lovely shower & bath. We loved it so much we've already booked for next year !
