What our customers say about their holidays

We fell in love with The Mountains house the second I saw the photos online but was reluctant to book as no reviews. We decided to take the risk and so pleased we did as just returned from the most incredible week away. The cottage views are spectacular, I spent so many hours sat in the cosy sun room watching the mountains, was heaven. The cottage is warm and beautifully decorated with a huge fireplace in the lounge which we used every night. All the beds were comfortable and we all slept so well. The en-suite shower and bath always had hot water and good pressure. The kitchen was very well equipped and I loved all the little extras like soaps, washing up liquids and sponges makes it a real home from home. The hot tub was used twice a day and always required temperature. We loved the fact it was very private and could be used in all weathers with roof and lights. Views once again stunning. Games room the teenagers loved and we spent many hours playing pool/ darts together as a family. The area around cottage is so peaceful and secluded but also very well placed as you can easily walk into village which has shops, cafes and great places to eat/ grap a takeaway. Parking for 2 cars in safe little lay-by less then 30 seconds walk from cottage. The owner is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. Call day before to provide helpful information and once again on arrival to check we were happy. We had a couple of questions during the week and owner was very responsive and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and he clearly cares about his guests. This holiday was meant to be a one off BUT we will definitely be returning as we all had such a great time. We would 100 percent recommend this to everyone.

      Beautiful holiday cottage.

Exceptionally clean with everything you need. The views from the bedroom window are stunning and all you can hear outside are the sheep and running water from the hillside. Bed is huge and very comfortable. Log burner (wood, kindling, firelighters provided) is lovely for cosy evenings in. Hot tub is amazing with lights changing the water different colours and has waterfall feature. Was so wonderfully relaxing just looking up at the stars. There was a lovely welcome pack and message from Angela the owner (who had messaged us previously to see if we wanted Christmas decorations left up or took down which was nice of her to ask us).Kitchen very well equipped, bathroom lovely too. Obviously being so rural there are no takeaways that deliver that we could find, so just bear that in mind if you are hoping to call for a takeaway to be delivered but they are not far in the car to collect as was the big co-op and Spar. We took our little dog and there was a bed provided, poo bags, bowls, and treats etc we had brought our own but we didn't need to (you could tell the owners are dog lovers) . Rightly so dogs are not allowed on the bed. We took our dog out with us the whole time (so many places allow dogs) but if you have a dog who sneaks on the bed when you go out you would need to shut them in the kitchen as there is no way else of stopping them getting upstairs. We had the most amazing stay here, we slept better than we had in years and we really didn't want to leave. Feel totally recharged and would come back again in a heart beat.

We had a 4 night stay in this beautiful, quiet, renovated cottage in the first week of October and were fortunate enough to have good weather.

The owner had thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and warm, especially on chilly nights (wood burner was excellent). The views of the mountains are fantastic especially from the bedroom windows. We chose this cottage as it was where my husband visited and stayed with his grandparents when he was a child. It brought back many happy memories and one of them was of waiting for the milkman to come with a churn to fill a jug with milk. What he loved was having a modern bathroom with all its conveniences instead of having to go outside to a shed where the privy was! We can hole heartedly recommend staying at Ael y Bryn not only for an exceptional cottage but for its situation and the easy access to places like Portmadog, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Portmeirion, the steam train, slate mines and even a trip on the train to Llandudno.

This place is an incredible find.

Just on the outskirts of Llan Ffestiniog, this is located far enough out that it feels remote and private, but close enough to be able to walk to the local shops and pub. It's easy to reach Porthmadog in about 15 mins as well. As soon as we stepped in, it felt like home. It was cosy with homely touches everywhere. You can tell the owner really cares. There was a book left with all the useful information and where to find certain things, a FULLY equipped kitchen, a little goody box too. The bed was amazing and some of the best sleep I've had in a while. We've been in touch with the owner since we've left, but she is easily reachable should you need anything during your stay. We will definitely be booking to come back.

The Cottage was in a lovely location and contained everything you could possibly need.

It was exceptionally clean and we arrived to a lovely welcome hamper which was very well appreciated. It was a surprising large cottage but previously it had been two cottages. The owner left us a very informative manual about the history of the cottage and places to visit in the area. We had no problem with parking using the carpark further down the road on the left in front of the playground. Using the parking space near the cottage at Weekends to unload and load the car. WiFi wasn’t the best but to be expected in the local area . Would definitely recommend this well kept cottage to anyone wishing to stay in this area.
