What our customers say about their holidays

    • Paula - Verified booking

Family of 7 from 11years to 88years old.

This house was amazing, we had a really relaxing holiday. It was like home from home in terms of feeling comfortable. The views were wonderful, my mum spend most of the week sat outside appreciating them. There is plenty of space to spread out, and haveing two lounges in our case was great for children to have their own lounge/TV. Internet connection was very good, another bonus for the children. Well equipped kitchen and nice large table for the family to sit comfortably at for meals. Beds and pillows are very comfortable with lovely crisp white bedding. We had a day out at Carsington Water Centre (8 mins drive) which has lots of water sports, bike hire, walk etc and well worth a visit. Shops are only a short drive away and some chippy/pubs did delivery which was great if you wanted a night off from cooking. I did not feel the house was suitable for anyone with mobility problems. My mum walks with a stick and is not very good getting up stairs. Sadly the walk- in shower was upstairs and she was unable to use the stairs. The downstairs bathroom is very small and unless you can climb into the bath (difficult) to use the over bath shower you are without a shower for the week.

We were a group of 9, aged 10 to 92 and had a lovely Christmas and 80th birthday in Highcroft.

Thank you for the festive Christmas decorations Jo! Much appreciated. The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone; the quiet location with curious deer was a great pleasure despite the relentless fog spoiling the view; the beds and sofas were wonderful; the kitchen was very well equipped, the dining table and dining chairs were an excellent feature and the thoughtful layout suited our age range with a second sitting room upstairs. We would have appreciated some wall hooks in the bathrooms and the main bedroom provided only hanging space when some drawers would have been useful. The house was impeccably clean and the early maintenance problem was dealt with promptly by Rob. Thank you to both Jo and Rob for providing a memorable location for our special holiday. Felicity

We had an amazing time in a gorgeous property.

Such a beautiful place to stay and amazingly comfy beds and bedding. Would say that the cleaning of areas like kitchen oven/kitchen items and baby highchair could have been better. Some items were missing/light bulbs out when we arrived which would have been better if checked before we arrived but Jo was amazing in sorting for us v quickly. The kitchen table also needs reviewing as chairs are definitely too low for it and felt like a child sitting at the table. The larder also not the easiest layout as when dishwasher open impossible to put dishes etc away. If it was my house would have kitchen reshuffled and to make better use of the island but would not discourage another stay. Thanks for letting us stay we had a lovely break

We had a lovely week at Chevinsode cottage.

The views around the cottage were idyllic and although the owner lives next door it doesn't feel like your been over looked as at other places I've stayed and my daughter loved the horses in the field adjacent. The owners were friendly and helpful but not in any way intrusive and we were left mostly alone to enjoy our stay. The cottage was very cold when we arrived but I think this was more down to the cottage being empty for a few days prior to our arrival and the very cold weather at the time and It took a couple of days to get it warm again and then it was fine and there was plenty on wood for the fire to keep us going. The cottage was clean and we enjoyed sitting in the lounge with the fire going in the dark evenings

Was concerned about the deer as I have quite an inquisitive dog, but the fencing was good (chicken wire with wooden fence).

Good quality beds and bedding, 6 singles and 2 doubles. In terms of electronics there were plenty of good modern TVs but bring your own HDMI cables. Outdoors there was a decent sized BBQ. Kitchen was moderately equipped, enough pots and pans but nothing for baking, storage space was slightly lacking. Lots of fridge and freezer space, plenty of glassware, crockery and general utensils. Not quite as secluded as I'd like, with another smaller adjoining rental property, but for most this won't be a concern. Parking was a little awkward but plenty of space. Instructions and materials provided are very useful and accurate. Cleanliness was second to none. Overall one of the best holiday homes I've stayed at.
