    Holiday Cottages in Derbyshire

Derbyshire is one of the most beautiful parts the UK, boasting some incredible scenery, notably the Peak District. It's also home to some picturesque towns and villages such as Bakewell and Chesterfield, and has a long heritage and charming character all of its own. If you're looking for something larger for a group or family trip then there is plenty of choice. If you if you need a pet friendly option for you and your pampered pooch you're bound to find what you're looking for in Derbyshire.

Things to do on a Derbyshire cottage holiday

Predominantly a rural region, Derbyshire encompasses a large part of the Peak District, a stunning National Park that's characterised by rugged uplands and moorland, such as Kinder Scout. The area feels very remote and is the ideal spot for an adventure. There are lots of ways to explore the Peak District hiking, cycling and even on horseback. Stay in one of many pet-friendly holiday cottages in Derbyshire and your favourite friend can even come along with you.

Scattered throughout Derbyshire's rolling hills, you'll find lots of historic and picturesque towns and villages. Bakewell, for instance, is considered to be one of the finest towns in England and, yes, it is the birthplace of the Bakewell tart! If you're looking for something livelier, the city of Derby lies along the river Derwent and is awash with museums, galleries, and a magnificent Gothic cathedral.

Derbyshire is less touristy than somewhere like Cornwall or the nearby Lake District. But it's definitely worth exploring if you want a holiday to remember. The sheer number and quality of holiday cottages in Derbyshire makes this pretty part of the UK ideal for unforgettable family trips or romantic getaways.

Encompassing swathes of the Peak District, Derbyshire is a top place to stay. With luxury cottages on offer you can enjoy your next staycation in style. Whether it's as a romantic retreat or a family getaway, there will be a place for you in this lovely county.

The Peak District is, of course, a popular place to go in this county. With plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling, as well as stunning views; it's easy to see why. However, this isn't the only attraction of Derbyshire. Both in and out of the National park there are numerous pretty towns and villages in which to enjoy a luxury cottage holiday. It's just the place to unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sjak - Verified booking

Unfortunately we do not recommend a stay at Appletree Cottage.

The main reason for this is the beds. The double bed has a foam mattress. Only this is so sturdy that it literally feels like you're lying on a board. We therefore moved to the other bedroom halfway through the first night. However, the mattresses in this room are not much better. High in the middle because of the springs, only a few centimeters thick on the sides. So every time you turn over you practically roll out of bed. As a result, you don't really get a good night's sleep. The cottage itself has been refurbished and decorated with much love and attention. Yet you notice that the owner himself has never camped there for a week, because there are quite a few points that could be improved. • There is a smart TV in the living room, but it will not connect to the WiFi in any way. So watching Netflix is not an option. • The central heating is off in the summer. But that also means that the towel rail in the bathroom is off, so towels don't dry and you have to dry off with wet towels. • There are not enough plates, so you actually have to run the dishwasher every day because you keep getting wrong, especially on plates. The cylinder of the front door is loose and the closing mechanism of the front door does not feel very reliable.

Positives:- owners left me to it after the initial welcome which i prefer, not a fan of owners checking in all the time.

they left a welcome pack with homemade marmalade which was tasty, some shortbread , different types of tea and coffee. fresh milk in the fridge. bed was comfy and nice thick duvet that kept warm but doesnt make you sweat. had all the amenities you would want, lots of cutterly,plates,salt/pepper/spices etc great views and peaceful issues: Heating is controlled by the owner so if you are cold you would need to ask them to turn it up etc, which just feels like im complaining so i never did and just wore more things. there is no curtains at the front of the conservatory and only netted ones around the sides. the front faces the owners wall with a window in it(they dont ever seem to use this room) which doesnt feel very private at night where you cant see out but they can see in. It's a shared garden which wraps around the house with gates that have lots of space for any sized dog to get through. i broke a knob on a cupboard door moving the spare chairs around to make room, sorry about this. overall it was a good experience that could of been made great with the above issues addressed. 4.4/5 stars

I needed to stay in the Castleton/Hope area for a charity walk for work. After leaving it a bit late to book accommodation, I found this pub at a reasonable price for two nights. We arrived at 7pm, it was easy to find and check in was super easy. The pub was not too busy. Our room (room 3) was suitable for the stay and was as described. The host provided us with additional pillows, milk, and loo roll. We could hear the noise of the people in the pub and outside until about 11pm and then it died down. We had dinner at the pub and the food was absolutely amazing, although it took an hour to arrive at the table after chasing it up. Check out was easy Sunday morning. The pub seemed very quiet and we decided to go for breakfast elsewhere. Overall a satisfactory stay, and perfectly fine for the overnight stay we needed for a walk in the Peak District.

My wife and I had a four night stay in Ash Cottage in May 2018.

It was perfect for our needs. The cottage is located in a very quiet area of Baslow, well away from the main roads and yet within easy walking distance of the village shop, pubs and restaurants. It made an excellent base for hiking in this lovely part of the Peak District and is a gentle, pleasant walk away from the Chatsworth estate. The house itself has been renovated and refurbished in a modern style and to a very high standard. The house comes with all the facilities and conveniences that one would hope to find in a holiday let, including a utility room (in the basement), WiFi and a smart TV with a wide range of channels on offer. The owner made it very easy for us to pick up and drop off the key and was very helpful in answering our questions about the house and the local area. We would be very happy to stay here again.
