What our customers say about their holidays

    • Bev - Verified booking

We are regular visitors to Fairbourne but this was our first stay.

We are so pleased that we chose Sealyons , the bungalow is just beautiful, such attention to detail a real holiday by the sea home . It is comfortable , warm and well equipped with everything you might use at home. We cooked meals , enjoyed eating at the lovely dining table with superb views and then relaxing in the living room in the evenings . We weren’t expecting great weather staying in April however we managed to get out and about every day but the bungalow was perfect to come back to and just relax. It made a difference travelling with children to have really good wifi in the bungalow! The views are stunning, watching the sun rise over the surrounding mountains in the morning. We enjoyed watching the ponies, bunnies and ducks in the field behind the cottage and the little train going back and forth throughout the day. The beach, shops , chip shop are just a short walk. We found the locals incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is a little laundrette where you can easily dry any washing . The Welsh sunsets are something else to watch especially if you get lucky and time with the high tide . We used the train most days, easily travelling to Barmouth, Aberdovey, Tywyn and Pwllheli. The train service is cheap, reliable and very enjoyable you can’t beat the views from the train. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. We would definitely return to Sealyons , it was such a lovely week thank you.

This was a really lovely stay and we thoroughly enjoyed Sealyons as a base for getting heaps of fresh air amid a beautiful part of Wales.

The accommodation was so well furnished with everything provided we could possibly need. It was also cleaned to a very high standard and we even had a super welcome pack that deserves a big thank you. Surrounded by mountains and minutes from a vast beach that was almost private due to so few people. Awesome. Fairbourne is very level too which is great for walking steadily if it’s not one’s strong point. We loved sitting on the decking in the evening listening to a cuckoo in the woods, seeing the wild rabbits who even visited and on one occasion chickens in the roadway outside, what’s not too like? Great quality T.V. C.D, Radio all enhanced our week’s stay. We will have lasting memories of the sun rising over the mountains and even the early mists and low cloud all giving the landscape unique character. Super stuff. On a constructive note we found the double bed perhaps needs a ‘topper’ and it is quite low ( one of us has knee problems), the bathroom transom window cannot be closed in a locked position and the back gate latch needs attention. This is minor stuff though, and nothing will detract from how much we enjoyed our stay, which was very much indeed. Thank you to the owner, your lovely property has set the benchmark we feel, it is that nice, light, and airy. It flows beautifully, a pleasure to be staying there.

Bungalow is in a great location just 5 minutes walk from the train station and bus stop.

Parking for one car in the drive and a quiet location without noise at night. It is also a flat easy walk to the beach. It is spacious and has good facilities and also has a lovely view of surrounding mountains and the fields which had horses in them during our visit. There are a number of issues which I think should be addressed before the next holiday season. The double bed is ok but has an additional mattress on top of the original and the second mattress moves during the night needing adjustment most days. Unfortunately the heating is very sparse- none in the bathroom and a wall mounted device in the main bedroom which doesn’t work. A tiny oil filled electric radiator was too small to heat the main bedroom. The paint has rusted on the bathroom rail which is therefore difficult to keep clean and the water pressure is very poor. Showers were challenging. There is mould around the shower end of the bath at multiple locations. We were unable to obtain hot water for hand washing or washing dishes in the bathroom or kitchen sink respectively and again the pressure is too low. Finally , there weren’t any instructions on how to use appliances and we had to try several internet networks to guess which one matched the Wi-Fi code.

The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning views.

Parking is off road, on a steep hill, but ok to access. It’s comfortable and relatively clean. Extremely quiet. Unfortunately little things like Cobwebs in upper corners and dead flys on the windowsills let it down. Lots of feathers from the living room cushions on the floor and sofa. Not sure how long it had been since the cleaners had been in. Bathroom wasn’t particularly clean. Bedroom lamp missing a bulb. Disappointed not to have a welcome pack, especially after reading positive reviews on the essential items previously left for guests. What added insult to injury was the half finished pint of milk left in the fridge! And no bags in the bins! Appreciate it’s a self catering cottage, but you would expect essential basic items such as bin bags in the bins, especially the kitchen. Only had food waste bags in the cupboard. Not essential, but WiFi was poor, constantly dropping connection. Not great when trying to entertain a youngster on wet days. A deep clean and a refresh of some of the furniture would really boost the place.

This place is a jewel, in a gorgeous setting with absolutely magnificent views, and a lovely garden.

We spent many happy hours just looking out of the full height window at the estuary and mountains, and walking from the property. It is comfortably and tastefully furnished, with everything you need. There is plenty of space for two people, though four adults might find it a little crowded. The double bed is very comfortable but as often the case the single beds are less so. It was clean when we arrived, however there were a few frustrating things: in spite of being told there would be fire making materials for the wood burning stove, none were provided;1 toilet roll only was supplied, a tiny bit of washing up liquid, and just enough dishwashing tablets. There was a bulb missing in one of the bedside lights and the battery was flat on the kitchen clock. Looking at previous feedback in the comments book there seem to be a long list of minor housekeeping quibbles. It's a shame to dwell on such minor things, but they need fixing to make this a totally five star experience.
