"This lodge isn't really large enough for six people. The bunk room is barely large enough to get the bunk in. The living area was only just adequate for six people to be in. The provision of crockery, cutlery and glasses wasn't sufficient for six people - most people have more than one drink and one meal in a day, so exactly six large plates and six glasses isn't enough. Cooking equipment seemed a bit random and missing items such as baking trays too.The lodge is very close to other lodges and the fencing between the lodges is quite "industrial" in nature. We were fortunate in that most of the other lodges weren't occupied for most of the week but it was inevitably quite noisy when they were, and also meant we were conscious of not disturbing other guests. The pool was good, but it seemed a bit early to close it at 7pm (why so early?) and the rules for its use are quite restrictive. The games room was too hot to enjoy although was well equipped. Most disappointing was the wifi/internet provision. Whilst we accept that rural internet speeds can be low, the internet access was so slow as to be unusable. This would be bad enough, but to be charged an additional £20 for the privilege seems like rubbing salt into the wound. Not unreasonably, we expected that the £20 charge was to enable a decent connection to be provided. I'd recommend future guests not to use the provided wifi but to bring their own 4G wireless access point instead."

"We have stayed in quite a few cottages through Snaptrip as we know they are of very high quality. We chose the above cottage for a family break over the new year and were not disappointed, the standard of accommodation was excellent, fantastic upstairs living room area that had so much space for everyone including a tiny 18 month old who loved being able to run up and down, stair gates provided and locks on cupboards meant Mum could relax and leave him to it. So much is provided from the lovely hamper in the kitchen to the toys and games for kids and adults and with an endless supply of logs you had to tear yourself away from the cosy lounge. Despite the awful weather we managed to have some great walks and visit lovely villages on Dartmoor, our location meant we were close to everything Dartmoor has to offer. Louise 'the owner' was very helpful with suggestions for local pubs and even gave us a takeaway menu for a curry house that would deliver ( amazed they got through with all the local flooding). We will definitely return to S44796, maybe a springtime visit. Thanks for a great stay!"

"A spacious, comfortable, single storey cottage with a modern well equipped kitchen, and excellent Mira showers in both the main and ensuite bathrooms. Spectacular well-planned gardens, with grassed areas, arbours, beautiful trees and shrubs, and well-placed bird tables and bird baths to admire the variety of visitors.. The thoughtful owners had even left a variety of bird food for us to purchase. The cottage was in a very remote location, which although was a bit of a challenge to locate initially, nonetheless was very well suited to our party and our two dogs. All of our party are city dwellers, therefore it was so enjoyable to get away from the noise and lights of the city, with no traffic noise and to enjoy the night sky, without the pollution from street lighting. Lots of information on the cottage itself and the various attractions in the area, plus maps and walks. The owners seemed to go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. Variety of good walks, beaches and restaurants in the vicinity."

"We stayed at S44796 at the start of April. The house was fabulous for us - me, my husband and our 4 children (7yrs, 6yrs, 3yrs and 1yr). It was immaculately presented on arrival, including the delicious Victoria Sponge we had read about in previous reviews!! There were plenty of towels, lovely White Company toiletries, a welcome hamper with lots of very helpful items, tissues in most of the rooms and incredibly comfortable beds! Our children loved playing in the garden and our baby was kept busy and entertained with the toy basket. The owner had checked with us prior to arrival whether we needed stairgates and they were up for us when we got there. The highchair and cot were both in very good, clean condition as well. Everything was clean and beautifully presented! The owner was absolutely lovely as well. We loved the location - very pretty area and we did a lot of exploring each day.Such a great holiday and we would definitely stay again - and would certainly recommend a stay at S44796!"

"The cottage was beautiful, full or character and charm with a lovely log burner (for which logs were supplied) and a fabulous garden, the owners couldn't have done more for us, they offered to be there for a grocery home delivery shop and put it away for us, home made scones, jam and clotted cream together with elderflower cordial awaited out arrival. They were both very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the cottage. Nothing was too much trouble and we only had to ask if we needed anything. Very peaceful location with only a field of cows across the road, within a short distance of Newton Abbott, Torquay and Paignton. The Round Robin which is a trip on a steam train and ferry up or down the river Dart is well worth it along with Paignton Zoo and Babbacombe Model Village. A brilliant time had by us all, something for all ages, would definitely recommend this property."
