"S80862 is a welcoming little place that is very clean and to the point. In many ways it was ideal for the purpose in which I was visiting. There were, however, a couple small issues that I feel to mention and one larger one. 1) The front door has no curtain over a very clear glass window; albeit that window is not very big, the path just outside the door is very busy with walkers, school kids and the likes. I became very aware that anyone could look straight in. This also meant on an evening while sitting on the sofa, the property across the street could see straight in from their upstairs window to where I was sitting - there is no way of closing off other's view through the front door and that privacy became important to me due to the surroundings.2) I personally found a similar issue with the upstairs bathroom. While the windows are patterned, that pattern includes very clear areas which allowed me to see straight out into the pub's beer garden. The curtains on the window were netted which again, gave me a sense of compromised privacy. I became aware when I had wanted to shower at night that I would have preferred solid curtains across the window for that COMPLETE reassurance of privacy. In hindsight and upon reflection, I have come to realise that the whole issue of "privacy" felt quite compromised there at S80862. For this reason, I would probably be hesitant to stay there again. 3) Part of my stay in Cartmel was to do some personal business, so finding that S80862 had secure wifi was an added bonus ... or so I thought. I was, however, greatly disappointed to discover that on the last day of my stay, it appears that someone "hacked" into my email account which meant that several personal emails of a sensitive nature had not gone through to the person for which they were intended. It is only this morning - the day after I left S80862 - that the full realisation of what happened came and I have had to deal with the issue from this end. For this reason, I would think twice about revisiting S80862. If I was simply walking the area and relaxing, I would perhaps re-consider ... but sadly, this final event has left a little bit of a cloud over what had been quite a lovely stay.I could look past the first two issues to a degree, but after the 3rd issue I am afraid it is a case of "3 strikes and you're out!" It is such a shame because the place itself is just so lovely and holds such character. R.D.County Durham"

"Plenty of room for a big party. Bedrooms and bathrooms very good. Position on the main road was a little unfortunate as cars were parked outside the windows and door most of the weekend. Parking for three cars was tight,as rubble and building materials in the drive entrance made parking on the property difficult. Parking opposite in the public car park was OK but we were anxious all weekend because a notice there restricts parking to 1hour. The playground opposite and the convenience of the baker and small grocery store were a big advantage for a group with small children. Our weekend was slightly spoilt by the unavailability of the BBQ promised on the list. As the weather was so good, we planned to eat outside and BBQ twice. We had to buy a portable BBQ twice during our stay. The outside area was altogether disappointing. It was neglected, dirty and un welcoming. There was builders'rubble around and not a pleasant place to eat. There were no proper chairs or tables, as advertised in the photos and nowhere to relax as there were two dirty picnic tables only. There is no garden at all, only a dirty yard. It was a nice property internally but disappointing outside."

"Firstly, the cottage is in a fab location and that and the village is just what my husband and I were hoping for and without doubt our stay there was comfortable and very pleasant. I was very pleased it was so close to the sticky toffee pudding shop, I polished off two in two days! I was pleased to find the place clean throughout. Bedding and towels were clean and of good quality, and the beds were comfy. The kitchen had everything needed for my husband to cook as he normally does and was very happy to try cooking in the range, a nice touch. The decor was lovely and the pretty little nic nacks made it feel homely. I loved the downstairs bathroom! Great bath. The owners communication had been appreciated a lot, a good direction for beginning our holiday and the instructions we had gave us no hiccups. I wanted to convey my appreciation for such a lovely stay in Cartmel, and to the owner especially for returning my precious running shoes that I left behind!"

"Whilst the accommodation is located only 5 mins from the main A590 it is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Its location is brilliant for the South Lakes being only 10 mins from the likes of Grange over Sands and Cartmel and about 20 mins from Bowness and Windermere. So many places to see, walks that can be taken right from the front door and for the more adventurous Scafell Pike was about 1hr 15 mins. Loads of leaflets of things to do at the house as well which was really helpful.Accommodation was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The only tiny thing that could be improved upon would be that there was only 1 washing machine tablet, 2 dishwasher tablets, 1 piece of tin foil etc. When you are away for a week the last thing you want is to have to take things like this with you so a few more would have been helpful.Overall though a great property, great location and would recommend strongly."

"Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the cottage. On arrival we were greeted with some very ugly damp on the hallway walls - it resulted in a terrible first impression. The cottage is located next to a school playground that was noisy and resulted in footballs regularly coming over the wall. There was scaffolding at all windows due to the work taking place next door which spoilt all the best views from the cottage. There was a lot of noise resulting from the renovation/building work being carried out next door. There were locks on the windows without a key so we couldn't open them to get any fresh air. There was brick dust in the bathroom due to some work that had been carried out on the extractor fan. On our last day after some heavy rain the ceiling in the lounge was leaking. I have photographic evidence which I can send to you."
