Staying in Worcestershire

If you want to learn something new Worcestershire has plenty of museums. The Salt museum and the George Marshall Medical Museum are especially good. Worcestershire Sauce may be the first thing to spring to mind when thinking of Worcestershire and food, but this county has a lot more to offer. With many cafes, pubs and restaurants using locally sourced produce to create both traditional and new meals there is plenty to choose from. No matter where your interests lie, Snaptrip has a brilliant selection of late availability self catering accommodation for your trip.

"This was a large and comfortable house; well equipped and very clean. In terms of value for money it was excellent - but this was probably because of the location, which really was the middle of nowhere.Although the house itself was good, there were some downsides. In particular the complete lack of a welcome or introduction to the owners. When we arrived a lady on horseback told us that the house was open - and indeed it was, once we had found it. There was no welcome pack with useful information such as nearest pub, shop, good walks etc - and the brochures claim to be within walking distance of a pub was completely untrue according to a local dog walker who laughed at us when we said we were walking to the pub.The electrics cut out frequently, plunging one of our party into total darkness in the middle of a shower in the en-suite. The boiler failed completely and all of us had an ice cold shower that morning. IF we had been given a name, contact number or had any clue where the owners lived we could have done something .... but sadly this was not the case. After a couple of hours of fiddling we worked out how to re-start the boiler ourselves. For me, a warm welcome and an introduction to the property is essential. I got the impression that the house was a sideline to the stables that nobody really wanted to take responsibility for."

"A rambling cottage that's much bigger than first thought. Situated right in the countryside and in the riding stables grounds, so good idea to like horses and dogs! Wellies are essential! Very clean and well equipped kitchen, plenty of room for the adults to relax and kids to play. Friendly welcome from owners. No mobile signal or wifi which is good for a complete break but would have been good to know beforehand. However there were a few niggles, that having read the visitor's book were a problem for previous visitors as well: no cleaning materials including washing up liquid, one toilet roll between 10 and no spares, couple of lights not working, no spare bedding, which was needed as cottage was cold at night and no stair gate. Shame really as these are very fixable problems that would mean more stars in the review."

"The cottage was excellent. It was in a great location, if a little more remote than expected! The lack of any mobile signal was an absolute blessing but it would have been nice to have been informed of this in the extra information about the property in case it had been important to us. The only minor gripe was that there were no cleaning materials in the kitchen at all. A couple of dishwasher tabs, some washing up liquid and surface cleaner would have been good as it was quite a drive to the nearest shop to get these! I also thought the bathroom towels were a little threadbare and not in keeping with the general quality of the property. Overall though, a very pleasant stay in a very spacious and well kept cottage. I would recommend."

"Poor attention to detail when being cleaned (bathroom bin was fall of waste, old newspapers behind sofa and no light bulb in lamp). This was rectified by Sara. On arrival had to go to neighbour for help to find way in. Welcome pack was meanest we have ever had in all our many years of cottage holidays. Under floor heating was hit and miss which you have no control over. It needs additional heating. Hot water was very good but one evening there was no hot water for either of us to have a bath. Rodents could be heard scratting and gnarring in the cavity above living room, when we reported this to Robin we were told that rats have to live somewhere and that because we were townies and this was the countryside, we didn't understand!"

"I wanted a change of scene for a couple of days with the dog and this was perfect. Sara was very friendly and welcoming and the cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Very comfortable bed! Great for the dog with an enclosed garden and some walks from the door. The only minor issue is that there is no proper shower, just an attachment on the bath which was fine for a couple of days. The cottage is part of a range of accommodation offered and it is near to caravans/campers but you cannot really see them from the cottage and it was no issue for me. Overall it was perfectly comfortable and really good I would definitely recommend it!"
