"The downstairs of the property is dark & dingy. No welcome pack to advise how to use heating or lighting. The cooker is so old that the numbers have disappeared for saying which ring you are using and the temperature. Stairs between kitchen & lounge have rounded chunks of wood over them making them slidy & a trip hazard. You have to walk through dark lounge to locate the light switch, many switches on the panel which do not seem to be connected to anything. Only one light fixture on stairs then you have to walk through upper lounge to bedroom to get a side light at bed as no bulb or switch for ceiling fitting. Low ceiling height upstairs, I am only 5ft 4 & bumped into ceiling. Lamp on deck hanging off wall. No hot/cold indicator on any of the taps. Bath hot tap would not turn, plumber had to be called. Only a two seater sofa in lounge which is ancient. Only a two seater chair on deck - this property is advertised for 3. Garden grounds not kept, over run with weeds. Downstairs full of dusty junk, dark rope put around everything, the ceiling, shelving even the toilet roll holder - dust catchers everywhere!!! Lounge windows not cleaned. The best part was the view and the open access to the beautiful clean beach - the locals were so friendly & helpful. Many lovely walks from the door."

"We instantly fell in love with S37433. The upstairs living room was the clincher, and we were mesmerised looking out at the Moray Firth in all of its lights and moods. Don't forget your camera and binoculars. Those darned dolphins/porpoises proved to be elusive, though. Still, we had a friendly seal who popped up to say hello. S37433 feels/is much bigger than it looks on arrival. We were perfectly comfortable - easy to make yourself at home (not all holiday cottages have that feeling). The complimentary bottle of wine and shortbread added a friendly touch. The local Spar shop is quite well stocked. A short-ish drive into Tain will give you Asda and Tesco. We recommend a visit to Sunflowers café on Tain main street (there's a second Sunflowers place up a side street, too). Hilton village is well situated if you want to explore this area - Inverness, Loch Ness (monster and all), Culloden battlefield, Nairn, Dunrobin Castle, etc. If you are into history, this is Highland Clearances country. Our longest trip was up the east coast route to John o'Groats. Would we book S37433 again? This week we shall be booking our second visit for 2019."

"This upside down house is a very smart place for ten to eat and sleep. Sadly steep and slippery stairs make it less than comfortable as the only decent seats are upstairs. We stayed as a couple and being elderly like to have a cuppa in comfort but it was difficult to navigate the steps with hot tea in our hands. There is a good view from the lounge windows but only if you stand up all the time.A lot of money has gone into linen and anodised cookware but it is a shame that some TLC could be used in other areas. A hair dryer, bread knife, patio furniture, b/b/q set and general repairs to toilet seats and broken fridge shelves, a brush and pan set would finish off what has been obviously a generous refurbishment.Would we stay again? I doubt it, we did not begrudge the rental cost but have stayed in far cosier cottages. But then we are pretty ancient and prefer comfort over design. As I have said it is an excellent pad for a large busy family who are out and about all day, but in our opinion not as a comfy, lazy getaway for two."

"Our family had a brilliant stay at S45071. Lovely house with a fantastic view from the sitting room window. Great kitchen well equipped, great bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Good for using as a base as we traveled all over visiting different places during our weeks stay. Sadly we didnt spot any dolphins from the sitting room window but we did see dolphins from the shore at Portmahomack and Chanonry Point. The local people were all very friendly, every time we were outside anyone passing by chatted to us. The local Spar shop was very well stocked and the shop assistants were also very helpful and friendly. The Balintore Inn is a lovely pub and the owner sat talking to us for ages when we popped in for a drink. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and our family would highly recommend S45071 for a holiday stay. Oh yes, and our 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed their holiday at S45071 as well. Hope to visit again in the future."

"Booked for a week over New Year with 6 adults, a toddler and a dog. Balintore is a very small village right on the coast, little local amenity, however well placed for day trips to a number of places of interest. Price reflects this. Local pub does basic food, very friendly. Cottage appears to have been recently refurbished, very clean, decent room sizes, adequate number of bathrooms, decent beds, good cooker, enclosed garden. Good central heating and hot water - we never used the log burner! 10 adults in the house might be a bit of a squeeze however. You can fit 3 cars in the parking space, but no more. On the downside, kitchen equipment is a bit basic. If you plan to do any cooking beyond what could be done on the stove top in a pan or in the microwave suggest you bring your own casserole dishes, additional large pots and your favourite knives etc. That being said we enjoyed our stay, and would return again."
