About this property

A charming cottage situated in the seaside resort of Dornoch, accommodating up to six people, within easy walking distance of the sandy beach, shops and *excellent* restaurants, and only 350 metres from the first tee at Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Perfect for families, travellers or golfers looking for a relaxing break, this cottage is an ideal base to return to regardless of the season. Upon entering you will arrive into a generous hall way, with space to leave your coats and belongings on arrival. You will also find a downstairs shower room and loo. A nearby sitting room is homely and inviting with sofas and arm chairs where you can enjoy some peace and quiet. After the sun sets, why not gather everyone together in the dining room for an evening meal to discuss your adventures and those to come. The kitchen is close by, home to all of the appliances you may need throughout your stay, and a splash of colour to complete the layout. After preparing breakfast or dinner, you may want to relax in the sun room overlooking the garden, and the small table is a nice extra to the room. Take the round staircase up to the next floor, and you will find a well-appointed family bathroom containing a bath and a handheld shower. The king-size double bedroom hosts two bedside tables and promises a peaceful nights sleep with its calming neutral effect. A front-facing single bedroom is ideal for a child, and if you are bringing extra guests, the triple room sleeps up to three people. The enclosed garden is a lovely place to rest with a refreshing drink, particularly the gravelled seating area. Dornoch has so much to do with a good range of restaurants, bars and shops to go around and enjoy at your leisure. For those keen golfers, the Royal Dornoch golf course is not to be missed. It's timeless setting offers much appeal, an absolutely beautiful course engulfed by wild landscape scenery, with a pure white, sandy beach dividing the links from the Dornoch Firth. The town is also famed for its imposing cathedral and the coast is a favourite for wildlife spotting. The Scottish Highlands are simply breathtaking! They combine awe inspiring landscapes, vast skies and superb local produce. Find yourselves next to some of the most beautiful lochs and upon majestic mountains, explore the islands and stroll along a wonderful stretch of coastline. A perfect set up for a memorable holiday. Dornoch is home to a 13th century Cathedral and a majestic castle and has a golf course that was voted the 5th best outside of the U.S. Aside from the beauty and history, Dornoch has so much to do with a good range of pubs, bars and shops to go around and enjoy at your leisure. Of course you cannot forget the beautiful sandy Dornoch beach.

The south facing conservatory was really useful with sunshine from breakfast to evening. Our surprise discovery was the Tarbat Discovery Centre at Portmahomack (which I only wanted to visit because I love the name Portmahomack!). The centre is an ancient Church with a history to rival that of Iona which the trust has unearthed through meticulous archaeology over many years. The building and the Pictish exhibits are well worth a visit.

The house is comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The conservatory was our favourite place for reading and watching a pheasant at the bottom of the garden. We have always liked visiting Dornoch and have stayed at hotels. Self catering made our week's stay more flexible and relaxing. Thoroughly recommend Kerrisdale and we are definitely booking again in the future.
