"First and foremost this cottage was in an ideal location being within a short distance of Llanberis/Bangor/Carnarfon. The welcome pack was excellent and the cottage was comfortable and warm. The advert said wi-fi was available but although we were able to access and confirm the correct password on 3 different devices all gave the message "no internet connection" Accessing the internet via 3/4G was hopeless with only 1 device able to pick up a weak signal and it proved impossible to download anything. As we are walkers wi-fi is a priority to download walks etc. There are a few other simple matters that could be addressed to increase our rating- Coat hangars on the back of the front door for wet clothing, the ones in the bathroom were not appropriate. Not having a picture of the cottage when we arrived we were not sure which was Seion out of the two small cottages- a name plate would be helpful. Finally every cottage we have been to over the past 30 years has always had an information folder giving details of local services i.e. doctor/vet/ re-cycling etc etc along with recommended local restaurants and instructions on operating the appliances and the all important wi-fi password. We found a large folder under the television but this seemed to contain nothing but masses of out of date "local attraction" leaflets and they were repeated in the top drawer of the lounge cabinet-some re-cycling wanted here!! Addressing these matters would be helpful and put the icing on the cake for this property."

"We loved staying at Smithy Barn! The hosts have an amazing array of animals: dogs, horses, chickens and a cat called Nettles. All the animals were safe and friendly, so my children loved playing with them. The barn itself was a good size with everything that we needed. My only negative, which is more constructive criticism than a complaint, was that the beds do need the mattresses and slates replacing on the double beds and the hot tub needs the jets replacing, as only two had any strength to them. Towels are provided, but I'd bring extra when we go back so we can keep the provided ones for hot tub use.We would definitely go back to the farm as it was central to everything that we wanted to do and everywhere we wanted to go. Thank you so much, especially to Jeff who really made us feel like we were at home. If you are lucky enough to book a barn at the farm then you will not regret it!"

"This was a comfortable house to stay in but we found the mattresses uncomfortable and the lighting throughout inadequate. My son's room had no bedside table or bedside light. The fridge was only partly equipped with no shelving on the door so we had to take trays out to put bottles in. There was no welcome pack so we had to call up for the wifi code. On the second day the wifi stopped working altogether. The bedrooms could use a chair to put clothes on, and the kitchen could do with some wooden spoons as we cooked in. Most importantly, the directions given to get to the cottage weren't specific enough. There is no name on the property at all, and we arrived at night. The contact was nice enough to come out and guide us in! Nice house, just a few points to work on."

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Owners were immediately helpful. Location is perfect for visiting a wide range of fabulous places. Only minor improvements, same as others have mentioned: it was a bit peculiar not to have a house plaque to be sure you were in the right place or any welcome information - although the place is distinctive so you can be pretty confident. A couple of improvements needed such as missing bathroom lock (which leaves large peephole), missing half of toilet flush and room doors were stiff/very noisy so no chance of sneaking to the loo in the night or getting up without waking anyone unless you leave doors open. But on the whole, it was lovely, very clean and had everything you'd need for a short stay; I'd definitely re-book."

"Whilst the cottage was small it is adequate for two people. The shower was very poor not much pressure at all. The seating wasn’t very comfortable but the bed was very comfy. The welcome pack was lovely and the log burner and wood supplied would be lovely in the winter. We took a very small dog with us and she struggled with the steps down to the back garden as these were quite big. The cottage is surrounded by other cottages which is very deceiving from the photos on the website. The WiFi was very poor and there was no router in the property. We also noticed there were no central heating controls so assuming during the winter this must be controlled from the owners house which is adjoining."
