Snaptrip says

Kooky Cottage in Brecon is a charming and cosy property with a wood burning stove, praised for its cleanliness, character, and quiet location within walking distance to local amenities. The steep stairs add to its quirkiness, though may not suit everyone. Guests have enjoyed peaceful stays and recommend the cottage for its comfort and proximity to lovely walks.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the cottage very clean with fresh linens and towels, although there was an isolated incident of the property not being clean upon arrival which seems to have been promptly addressed.

The location is highly praised for being quiet, close to the town centre, and within easy walking distance to amenities and local walks, making it an ideal base for exploring Brecon.

The cottage is generally considered comfortable and cosy, especially with the log burner. However, the steep and uneven stairs have been noted as a potential discomfort for some guests.

Facilities are well-regarded with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy living areas. Some guests mentioned issues with the boiler and dampness in the kitchen, and the steep stairs could be a maintenance concern.

While guests have mentioned the provision of useful information and a well-equipped cottage, there are no specific references to gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

Situated in the bustling and historic market town of Brecon, on the edge of the scenic Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park), lies this Grade II, end-of-terrace cottage. Set over three floors, Kooky Cottage is a charming escape for couples seeking exploration of South Wales. After a day of rambles, look forward to relaxing in the sitting room, offering a traditional décor with exposed stone work and sash windows, while the woodburning stove provides a cosy ambiance. When you’re not dining at a fine restaurant in the town, enjoy whipping up home-cooked meals within the kitchen/diner, appointed with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine, handy for when your walks take off on a muddier route! Climb to the first floor to discover the double bedroom with a hanging area and chest of drawers for storing clothes, while across the landing is the bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can decide how best to prepare for the day. The market town of Brecon has plenty to offer in the form of history, from its 11th century modest cathedral with stunning stained glass, to the Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh, showcasing military history and exhibits. Soak up culture within the Y Gaer Museum, Art Gallery & Library housed in a Greek revival building dating back to 1842 with many fascinating exhibits to discover, or for those seeking a little more adventure, explore the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park), where you can enjoy a host of outdoor activities at the Llangorse Multi Activity Centre, offering rock climbing and horse riding, or visit Llangorse Lake for boat hire and fishing. With all this, plus the towns of Abergavenny to the South and Builth Wells to the north, Kooky Cottage provides an excellent touring base, all-year-round.

Brecon is the market town which sits at the top of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons National Park), serving as a gateway for walkers, cyclists and adventurers to head into the delights of the beautiful Mid-Wales landscape. The fire was lovely too. The only thing i could mention would be never having a reception to watch tv that said it didn't bother us really because we was never in but i could imagine some would like to have that especially if they had been out all day and fancied a quiet night in.

The only problem is the stairs, especially to the kitchen, the location is very convenient, close to the center.

  • Julie

Lovely and clean. We knew the stairs would be tricky from previous reviews so we were aware.
