First time at St Marks School house and it was amazing!

Nestled just on the edge of Elan Valley, St Marks sits surrounded by hills with views for miles direct from the window. On arrival the property was clean, tidy and felt really homely. The central heating was on and warm but also the log fire was prepared ready for lighting if needed. Essentials like cake, milk, teabags and coffee was on hand in order to make a brew after the long drive down, great little touch I thought. This little house is full of character, from its timber beams to its original slate worktops reclaimed from when the house used to be a school. There is fantastic dog walks right from the doorstep, with a forest less than fifty metres away which felt like you had to yourself due to the lack of people there. Great if you have a reactive dog like I do. The owners was fantastic, with great communication. They even went as far as leaving a guide book with tips and hints about heating, recycling, emergency numbers, where to eat when out etc. Also walks to take, plus if you have a dog then which walks will require your dog to be leashed (or not) in order not to scare livestock. All in all, this place is great for a couple or a single person (with two dogs) like myself wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Would I recommend - Absolutely! Will I be back - Most definitely!!!

We had to pay extra for electricity units we had used during our stay, I cannot find anywhere in my booking emails that electricity was not included in the price we paid so was shocked to read this in the welcome pack at the property. You market this as a dog friendly cottage but we were told when we arrived it was a good job our dog was 6 months old as they do not accept dogs any younger, again this needs to be highlighted when booking, not sure what would have happened if he had been 5 months old? We obviously would not take a none house trained dog on holiday anyway. Stunning location made even better by a week of sunshine, hosts welcoming on arrival. Cottage very dark inside and dated needs upgrading and it would be perfect.

What an absolute gem of a cottage, beautifully designed and decorated.

The kitchen/diner is very large inside equipped with all the essentials, the dishwasher was out of order minor issue. Lounge very cosy and relaxing, bedroom large in size with a really comfortable bed, minor issue the bed is very low. David our host was extremely welcoming and informative about the cottage and surrounding area. The welcome pack of chocolates and cake was a lovely gesture thank you for the treats. We have never stayed in such a relaxing, peaceful and quiet accommodation. You can hear the bees buzzing the birds singing. You could never tire of the beautiful panoramic surroundings, the views are simply breath taking. Returned home feeling extremely relaxed and recharged, we will definitely be returning.

We found this gorgeous little hidden gem after coming across an advert on tiktok.

It was our first visit to Wales and we will definitely be back. The rooms were immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable, freshly washed sheets and amazing pillows. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub. The photos do not do this place justice, the living room and open plan kitchen are very spacious. Both televisions had Netflix on them so we logged in and caught up on our favourite shows when we were ready for bed. The remains of a beautiful castle are right on the door step and we were a few minutes from the town centre. We spent one day at the beach which is 10 minutes by car then went back again at midnight to watch the meteor shower. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back.

We loved our week in this beautiful cottage.

The position and views were outstanding, and on the one day the weather blew hard we stayed in and enjoyed the warmth and security of the barn. Very friendly locals and walked to pub ( 25 MINS) and booked Sun lunch. Visited most of Snowdonia from coast to mountain and a perfect base just off the beaten track. Modern, smart , and would return. Sat nav ok to pub and small local caravan site ( signposted ) then up road and left at no through junction, past indicated left turn and look for gate. with sign on left. We had stunning views and sunsets and on two nights the stars were magnificent and lying in bed could see the plough through roof light close enough to reach out to.
