"We stayed at Mini Cottage for 3 nights, and overall our experience was not very good. Mini Cottage is the annex to a larger cottage down at the bottom of a narrow lane to the south of Denver. It is a perfect English country cottage location and setting, with a large garden area, although the noise from the nearby A10 is always present. When we arrived there was no one there to greet us and hand us our key, but then we discovered that the key was in the door so we let ourselves in. There was a plate of cakes left out which was a nice touch. Mini Cottage is very well named - it is even smaller than the pictures would suggest - downstairs there is a lounge/kitchen/diner with a small toilet/shower room off it. There kitchen is adequate - there is a microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle and two ring hob and a tiny sink. The shower room is again adequate with a toilet, sink and shower, albeit that you need to shut the door to get into the shower. The lounge/diner area has a sofa, table for two and tiny TV/DVD player. Whilst it is small the facilities are perfectly adequate for a couple to spend a few days. Upstairs (very narrow stairs at that) is the bedroom - this has a pitched ceiling which is around 6 feet (1.8m) at the apex and drops to floor level at the sides - the bed is ok, but is basically little more than a mattress on the floor. To get into the bed you literally have to crawl along the floor on you hands and knees, watching not to catch yourself on the exposed roof beams. We are both tall people, so this room was a major challenge but there is no way that even average sized people could get dressed upstairs. It was also hot weather when we stayed, and the only window in the bedroom is a tiny Velux rooflight, which provides little ventilation and the small room is very stuffy indeed.PROBLEMS:-Mini cottage is advertised as having free wi-fi, but we couldn't find a router to log onto. It is advertised that there is free range of the garden area (so long as you pick up pet litter), but our experience is that this is not the case, with dogs having to be on leads at all times. The owners keep chickens and we were woken up at about 4am by the cockerel crowing.Another issue with Mini Cottage is communication with the owners - it became apparent to us that the owners son was completely unaware that there was anyone staying in the cottage following an irritable exchange. Thereafter he promised his mother would phone us, and when my partner eventually managed to get her on the phone (around a week after we got home!) she told us that she couldn't speak with us and that we'd need to contact Cottages.com customer care.HOWEVER, the biggest problem with Mini Cottage is the cleanliness. When you first go in there is a strong smell of dampness/mustiness - we aired the place extensively whilst we were there but the smell never went away. The cottage is quaint with wooden beams, but these are utterly infested with cobwebs and clearly haven't been cleaned for a long time. The tiles in the shower are blackened between the joints, and the shower head is secured to the wall with a couple of cable ties. Generally, the whole cottage just isn't properly clean which doesn't make for a comfortable stay. Also, whilst it is a large and potentially lovely garden, it isn't well maintained which takes away from it.Overall, Mini Cottage has the potential to be a lovely little hideaway to spend a few days in - suspect it is too small to make a longer stay comfortable. However, as it is at present, we feel that we would have been cleaner, better and cheaper checking into the local Premier Inn."

"If you have young grandsons to entertain during the school holiday for Half Term, and have to make sure they are not bored, you might not think a holiday cottage in a Norfolk Village would be the thing to do, especially when you take into account that they come from a village in Suffolk!! We found it very comfortable, and for some reason, the boys liked to keep their room tidy??The cottage was lovely and clean and welcoming, as were the Owners, and couldn't do enough for us. We went for local walks and saw cattle and Llamas, and all kinds of wildlife. We drove for days out to Alderburgh, and all seaside places within an hours drive, like Southwold, and Gt Yarmouth to see the magnificent Sea Life Centre which was well worth a visit, and kept the boys amused, together with all the fish and chips and lovely fresh sea food wherever we went, plus we bought some and took it back for tea, with bread all fresh from the little shop in an adjoining village on the way home. There is no light pollution at the cottage at night, and the sound of the owl as I stood outside the back door and looked up at the stars one night was lovely. The stars were so beautiful, you could see the Milky Way, and the whole time spent there which I think was Sunday night to Thurs night of Half Term was so relaxing , even with young men who were never bored at any point. They had to be home by Friday as it was Halloween, and they were going to a Party, so we dropped them off, and, as I listened to them talking to their parents, who seemed a lot more relaxed for having had some time to themselves, and hearing them recount all they had done, and showing off photos they had taken, plus seeing them laugh and laugh at the tricks they played on their granddad, I realised it had been more fun for them than I had anticipated it would have been when I booked it. We live 2 hours drive away from them, and so, it was a pleasure to have them all to ourselves, and the cottage had a great deal to do with that. It provided for all our needs. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, old, young, whatever your needs, if you want a nice relaxing stay, in peace and quiet with lots of fresh air, and sea air only a drive away, go and stay there. My only gripe was that the satnav took us home a few times the "country roads way ", until we got our bearings and took a more direct route, but that is the problem of the satnav, not the cottage."

"This accommodation could be lovely , but we were told it would be deep cleaned before we arrived and as we didn't arrive until 6pm this should have been no problem , this was not deep cleaned there were cobwebs everywhere I am sorry to say but a cleaner is needed ASAP. The gentleman was very nice but there was no second bathroom or sauna and we were told the Wi Fi was bad in the area and was not given a code to use this we feel is a basic need for any accommodation in the 21century . There was no welcome pack and we had to ask a lady at the local garage for suggestions for where to eat locally, the foldsgate Inn was excellent and a must of you visit the area, lots of knick knacks about which I think we're a bit over the top and personal to the owner , and there was a sign to say anything broken you must pay for but in a house so cluttered this could easily happen and not really be anybody's fault, over priced i would say as not clean and not everything in the write up was offered as it should have been."

"This is a real gem of a cottage. The owners of the B&B; attached were extremely helpful and friendly, and real characters with a passion for their business. The cottage is characterful and immaculately clean, with comfortable beds and crisp white sheets. The price we paid was a typical self-catering price but the service was that of a hotel. A delicious breakfast was provided in the cost in the beautiful B&B; next door (fabulous choice, well cooked, beautifully presented). Our sheets were refreshed and made daily. The bathroom and shower room were immaculately clean with plentiful soft white towels, and shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/shower caps were provided. The kitchen has double doors onto the patio and garden, coffee/tea sachets provided, biscuits and a large carton of milk in the fridge. Our daughter accidentally left her 'box of treasures' in the cottage, which was carefully wrapped and posted back to us within the week. We enjoyed our stay greatly. Thankyou Chris and audrey!"
