"We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Pendre Isaf on the Hafod Estate. The location was just what we needed (a complete break for the week). There was NO mobile phone reception, but there was a payphone in the house though and internet connection (be aware that wi-fi call did not work for us - vodafone but may of others) albeit only about 6mb.Enough of the technology. The property was well equiped and although it was looking a little tired (the property next door that sleeps six looked like it had been renovated recently), it was a lovely hideaway for two and we would go back again in a shot. This is a holiday property for those interested in getting out and exploring the the walks and trails in the area. There are many well maintained tracks and paths on the estate. If you are looking for eating places, then the hotel at Devil's Bridge is certainly a place to head to.We had our dog with us and he loved the walks, water and chilling on the the terrace outside. One suggestion for the owners/website information is to supply a GPS location to the house as it is alittle confusing following the signs. Also, be aware that you access the cottage via a forest track and it is not suitable for "low slung" vehicles. Ordinary vehicles can negotiate the tracks but with care."

"The inside of the property was good with adequate provisions. The property had part decking on the outside. This should have provided a very pleasant view of the valley. However, the outside was badly in need of gardening maintenance. The view was blocked by overgrown trees/shrubs, wildflowers, grass and brambles. The bedroom window view was up close and personal with brambles. The shrubs/bushes within the boundary were very untidy with a lot of weeds around the sitting area. There were even some brambles creeping up through the decking. The track leading to the property, apart from being bumpy and very uneven, was impeded by large brambles protruding onto the track. The photo used to advertise the property is somewhat misleading as the front door shown is not usable and the bushes shown either side of the door have now grown to very nearly obscure the door."

"We used the cottage as a base to attend our daughter's graduation from Aberystwyth university. The Hafod estate is stunning and walker's dream. The estate is about 30mins from Aberystwyth and pretty remote which we wanted. The Elan Valley is also easy to get to over the mountain road and great for walking and mountain biking. The barn was very comfortable and owner very friendly. It's well equipped and is spacious for two people. The owner allows dogs in the property and as none dog owners we could tell without being told. To be fair to the owner it clearly states dogs are allowed and its ideal for dog walking. Even with the telltale signs dogs had been in the property, it didn't spoil our stay.If you like remote, stunning scenery and walks, peace and quiet and a well equipped holiday let. This is a great property."

"Such a beautiful and cosy cottage. We had the most amazing time on our weekend stay. The garden was picturesque, honestly it would be impossible not to feel calmed and happy sitting there in the sunshine. Our dogs absolutely loved the garden and Denzil Our chocolate lab was thrilled about having his own stream to play in! Lovely walks close by! Make sure you arrive well stocked with all you need (milk, tea/coffee, sugar, shower gels, toothpaste etc.) As the nearest shop is a good distance away. Also we struggled on a Sunday evening to find any pubs that were open and serving food. The only one was the LLanarch Arms which was brill but a good drive away. Overall we had a brilliant time and would highly recommend!"

"Location literally on the A483 which is a 60 mile an hour road, not the busiest but can be noisy and a concern with a child and a dog. The cottage felt a bit damp but next to a river in Wales, I guess cannot be helped. There was a problem with the shower going cold and stopping if taps were on downstairs. Peter, the owner, was unable to fix it but was very apologetic. The kitchen was well equipped and cottage clean and tidy. Overall, Peter was very helpful and being next to the river was very pretty, we saw Kingfishers everyday, but the cottage is in need of a bit of a makeover."
