What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jolene - Verified booking

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Dutch barn.

It is beautifully decorated, well thought-out and equipped with everything you could need. The hot tub is a great addition and enabled us to keep the boys busy on rainy days. The hot tub robes were also a nice touch. The accommodation is very comfortable with quality furnishings. The barn is on a working farm but we were not disturbed once. The owners live close by but respect your privacy but were equally very responsive and helpful if needed. We really enjoyed exploring the local area. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to castles and historic buildings. We particularly enjoyed Hereford Cathedral, the chain library and the Mappa Mundi are a must see. The cafe was also really good. Homemade quiches and fresh salads. We thoroughly enjoyed Ludlow castle (a well preserved ruin which seems a bit of contradiction) . We also paid a visit to Croft Castle which is more of a stately home and there’s not as much to do there on a wet day but we did enjoy the tour of the house. Not as great in terms of value for money as Ludlow or Hereford cathedral. For something different and despite not being cider drinkers we did the Weston’s Cider factory tour which was fab. Surprisingly Family friendly too. Nice cafe there. Finally we went to Monkland Dairy. We didn’t do the tour but the lady in the shop was lovely, let us sample their 6 cheeses and the cheese makers both came out and had a chat to our boys. They watched the machinery through a little viewing window . The cheeses are delicious! Great holiday, lovely setting and plenty of things to do.

Fiddles Green is a wonderfully comfy, cosy, and exceptionally clean time capsule, it is like staying at my Nan's when I was younger!

It has everything you could want in a home from home. Wonderful garden (although due to the wet weather we were not really able to appreciate it fully) Bucknell itself is a beautiful, friendly village, a walk around the river is recommended, as is a visit to the Sitwell Arms, where a friendly welcome is assured by Steve the landlord and the locals, can definitely recommend the fish, chips and pint night! A visit to Rita's Tea Rooms at Eardisland, a very pretty black and white buildings village, is also a must. The Lion at Leintwardine although a little pricey is well worth a visit in its picturesque setting on the river and Ludlow is amazing, visit the Green Cafe by Dinham bridge and go for a walk along the river Teme, watch out for the Heron and kingfisher, lots of lovely little independent shops inc a lovely handmade chocolate shop called the Chocolate Box tucked away down a little alley called Attorneys Walk...heaven! The deli, with freshly ground coffee and loose teas! And the castle rounded off a very nice day. Wigmore castle is also a wonderful ruin to visit. As you drive through Brampton Bryan do stop to look at the amazing yew hedges. Although the weather was against us we had an amazing holiday and cannot recommend Fiddlers Green, Bucknell and Sykes Cottages enough.

This was our 4th holiday at Fiddler's Green, but of course our first one during the pandemic so we weren't sure whether to expect anything different.

The house was spotlessly clean, and we felt completely reassured that everything would be fine. The only slight difference was that we could access the house from 5pm rather than 2pm, but it didn't bother us at all. There needs to be a longer cleaning window between guests. This cottage is superbly situated for peace and quiet, yet in a lovely village which is so interesting to walk around. There's a fantastic gastro-inn within walking distance too, The Baron, which we went to three times in a fortnight! The food and service there is superb, but remember to book. The cottage has a spacious, restful garden with a perfect place to sit on the top terrace, and comfy garden chairs. We take our own pillows, as quite a lot of the bedding is filled with down, but there's one double quilt which is anti-allergenic. We particularly enjoyed having use of the piano too, but took our own board games this year. The owner is easy to communicate with, and very helpful. A super place to stay.

Fiddler's Green is such a lovely cottage, which has a certain 'period-charm' that reminds me of visiting my grand parents when I was much younger.

There is plenty of space and it was sufficiently equipped although it would have been more beneficial to us if it had a tumble drier, but that didn't stop us drying our wet cycling gear on a daily basis. It was the perfect base for cycling and exploring the Shropshire/Herefordshire/Powys countryside as well as enjoying some peace and tranquillity. There are also some lovely walks in the area and plenty of information in the cottage of what to do and where to go with maps of local walks of varying distances. It has a beautiful, sheltered garden that is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the serene surroundings in privacy from the neighbouring properties. The locals were friendly and welcoming wherever we went especially in the local pub. There is a local shop and a large Co-op in the next village just a 5-mile drive away or Tesco Superstore in Ludlow, which is about a 30-minute drive. I would highly recommend a stay at Fiddler's Green!

We had a splendid week at Bullfinch cottage, Kingsland.

It was easy to find, even though we weren’t familiar with the district, especially with its own sign at the end of the road. The parking space in front of the property was good. The cottage was delightful, immaculate, comfortable and with everything we needed to make us feel this was the place for us. The kitchen was well equipped, the dining area excellent and we enjoyed relaxing in front of the smart TV before repairing to the excellent bedrooms. It was really peaceful to be in the quiet depth of the countryside, while within easy reach of shops and towns. Every day we were able to visit a place of interest including Eastnor Castle and Brockhampton Estate and the jewel of the holiday, the Mappa Mundi in Hereford Cathedral. We can recommend Bullfinch as a tranquil haven as well as an excellent base to explore the region. Oh yes we want to return!!! Maureen
