What our customers say about their holidays

    • Colin - Verified booking

A bit of a Tardis, compact but surprisingly spacious inside for a couple.

Comfortably furnished to a high standard we spent a very pleasant week there in September. It is ideally placed to tour Herefordshire and Shropshire and the numerous National Trust properties there. Yarpole itself is a small, friendly community with the advantage of a small community store for last minute essentials and associated cafe that had excellent cakes. The local pub, just over the road, was unfortunately closed during our stay due to illness so we couldn't try that out. The host was perfect, he gave us a quick tour on our arrival and was helpful when we had a small issue (of our own making). There is limited outside space, which didn't worry us, the parking is directly outside the cottage and helped me practice my parallel parking, but did easily take my fairly large SUV. We would definitely stay there again if visiting in the area.

Great location in a vibrant village.

The accommodation was really comfortable so we were able to settle in very quickly. The owners were very thoughtful and had left us a gift of wine and chocolates. The coffee machine had coffee available to drink. The utensils and crockery were very good. The bedding and towels were excellent quality. The WiFi and TV all worked really well. The village shop and gallery cafe were brilliant and we were able to shop everyday there except Sunday. The cafe was outstanding for the menu but also the friendliness of the locals and voluntary staff. The church itself with its bell tower and the cemetery across the road is well worth a visit. We were able to walk to Croft Castle for a visit. We spent a very pleasant evening in The Bell for a meal and to listen to the folk musicians.

    • Cliff and Susan - Verified booking

      Absolutely superlative.

Perfect if you really want to be away from it all. The roads are narrow, but largely without traffic, Pubs and Shops are a car drive away. Kington about 8 minutes away has fresh fish, veg and a delicatessen, All brilliant and The Swan Inn and The Boat good Pub Grub. Brilliant walks everywhere and really recommend Westonbury Water Garden. Ludlow and Ha-on-Wye well worth a visit. But the Mill itself is comfortable and extremely well appointed, first place we have ever been where we didn't have to buy a cork screw, it even had a toast rack! The hospitality extended by Grace and Dick was exemplary, But all this is crowned by the abundance of wildlife on the bank of the river right outside the door! You must go to belief it.

The cottage was lovely, it had everything you could need to have a cosy stay.

All cutlery supplies, tea towels, comfy sofas (with lazy boy seats!), blankets, wood burner, smart TV - the works! We (5 adults) had a lovely stay and although Clun is small, it's got a lot to offer - both an ideal base for exploring the Shropshire countryside as well as local walks right from your doorstep. It's a picturesque place to be, with some very friendly local pubs and several useful local shops for supplies within walking distance. Oh, and the postcard cafe was a treat! Also had great communication from Lorraine (the owner), with all the details we needed for our stay. Thank you so much, we'd love to return for a longer stay next time!

My wife, daughter and I (and our little Jack Russell) had a really lovely time at George Cottage.

We stayed for most of a week out of season (well, June but before the school holidays) and we were very satisfied with the price. The cottage was well-appointed with everything we needed and the owner and cleaner were very helpful. Clun is a very quiet little place but the locals were friendly and there were several options for eating out, which is surprising given how small Clun is. The peacefulness of Clun was just what we needed. Our little dog had a great time playing in the river and running around the castle grounds with other dogs. There were plenty of places to walk him including places we could let him run free.
